I'm not understanding the Mafia II Digital Deluxe version's details. It says:
"Made Man Pack: Free access to in-game downloadable pack that lets players get behind the wheel of two different luxury automobiles modeled after classic cars from the period. In addition, Vito will look the part with two new “made man” suits, including a vintage tux."

So, you get all the DLC for free? Or should I just get the regular edition.

Haha. I actually thought of you the moment I saw it was on sale.

The best version of the game. And in addition to graphics, UI that others are mentioning, I'm pretty sure you also have better control over your teammates than you did on the 360 version. Although it's been a LONG time since I played it on 360 so I could be remembering that wrong.

Now I have all the ticket prizes for everything I own (or see myself owning), I'm trying to figure out what I might eventually pick up from the stuff still left. X3, Fate of the World, Winter Voices, and Dawn of War II are the ones I'm most likely to buy one day. Which would you say are the best of those DLC?

Definitive version..

It's excellent, can run at 60 fps and runs beautifully, no controller support though but K/M controls are better anyway, buy it

AEREC said:
The best version...much improved UI and no performance issues (assuming you have a decent rig).

Looking at some videos (of the game running on highest settings) and the visuals don't look that much different to what I saw on consoles

Man most of these deals are terrible.

Good Games:
Amnesia
Mafia 2
The Last Remnant
Divinity 2 DKS
Dirt 3
Splinter Cell 1 & chaos theory
Mass Effect 1
Empire/Napolean

Meh Games:
Splinter Cell Conviction and double agent
Fallout 3
Worms reloaded
RF:Armageddon
Mass Effect 2
You do realize that by having more games in a good category than a meh category, your statement is false.

The difference is 1080p/60fps vs. 720p/sometimes 30fps/sometimes not even close to 30fps.

lacks controller support...

That's because the UI is designed around kb/m, not controller. And you're aiming at stuff, therefore the console version is ifnerior for lacking kb/m support.

Honestly its not that big a deal if you want to play the game. Just use whatever username/password you usually do, click save, and you never have to mess with it again.

I can understand not wanting to have to be online to play the game, but if the DRM is gone, its not that hard to make a quick account.

EDIT: Last Remnant looks cool and has a great soundtrack, but the demo turned me off as well. Is it just another case of "bad demo" where it just throws you into the middle of the game with not much of an explanation?
I assume the demo would suck cuz the game gradually teaches you how to play the game/battle system. not sure how they can teach you everything in a demo immediately.

Fuck, I already own everything except for Red Faction and Dirt 3, both of which are way too expensive to even consider. Actually, I don't have Universe Sandbox or Worms... I may have to consider those. Also, I have Splinter Cell Conviction only from the Ubisoft store when it was busted and you could buy it for $1. Maybe I'll buy that to have it on Steam... Mafia II DLC is something to consider, as well, although I still haven't finished the main game.

Does anyone remember whether you ARE or AREN'T supposed to level grind in the Last Remnant? I seem to remember some discussion on whether it punishes you for level grinding. It's made by the SaGa team so... insanity reigns!

The demo doesn't really explain things very well... I don't think it's a very good demo overall.
It doesn't explain things at all, but it gives you a taste of the combat system and the world in general. I was already meh after the initial trailers, but I became completely meh after trying out the game.

Woo! The Last Remnant get! :D Even though I shouldn't be spending money haha. Total damage thus far:

SpaceChem -5.09
Atom Zombie Smasher -2.99
The Last Remnant -9.99
TOTAL: 18.07

I doubt I'll be buying anything else as my secondary spending limit was $20 and I highly doubt anything will be on sale for $1.83.

THE LAST REMNANT! MY DAY HAS FINALLY COME!

Not just it, I consider this perhaps the greatest Steam Sale day of all time!

It is much much much much less of an issue in the PC version, but the enemies do scale with your battle rank. I would recommend just playing normally, fighting what you see. Don't grind, but don't worry about avoiding fights.

EDIT: One tip, though: fighting enemies that are way above you (battles that start with the morale gauge entirely in the enemy's favor) give you lots of stat boosts with minimal impact on your battle rank, so if you did want to grind, that's how you'd want to do it.

No gamepad support, the inventory is terrible, threre are loads of bad textures, but it's still undeniably better than the 360 version.

as usual

Damn, wish there was more for me to buy today. :( TLR is gonna take forever @ 12gbs.

Oh well, I'd probably just be playing Terraria either way.

RPG demos are usually shit from my experience.

I was saying they were good games, not good deals.

DKS is a good game but should be $10, and has been close to $10 before instead of $20.
Dirt 3 is a good game but $34 is expensive for impulse buying. Dunno if theres a demo.
Conviction is a bad game but could be persuaded to an impulse buy @ $5 not $8
Fallout 3 is inferior to NV, especially at $10 when NV was on sale for $11 just a week or two ago on D2D.
RF:A is awful if you were expecting Red Faction Guerrilla, and for $34 No way.
Worms reloaded is the poor man's version of Worms Armageddon.

After your last few, I've been wondering if you even played the games.
I've played all of these at least about 5 hours, though some I've played at a friend's place instead of at home, and some I've completed fully.

I loved the Splinter Cell series, but I still had a blast with Conviction. It's just Jack Bauer the game, you feel like a complete badass. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Is the Last Remnant combat system like any other RPGs? I've been waiting for a game to use Grandia 2's battle system for years.

That's not a minus.
holding shift to walk is retarded, and running all the time is equally off putting. third person action games are not better with m/kb because of their binary, unintuitive walk/run system. Play Uncharted 2 for reference. The Witcher 2 was much better with the controller too.

You'll probably like it twice as much. I did, anyway. In the earlier ones I felt like I should start over when I got caught, this one provides a pretty easy way to fix the situation.

Way different. You control ARMIES. So cool.

In The Last Remnant, instead of controlling individual characters in battle, you control unions (parties) of several characters at once. It's kind of hard to explain, but the battles are very large-scale and no it isn't really like anything else out there, and no it isn't like Grandia's at all.

Here's some battle footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvOSZ_hJ6bY

I wish more RPG demos were like Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits or Dragon Quest VIII. Now those were great RPG demos. More or less just let you play the first section (well small part of it) of the game with no extra powerups or anything.

What is better is the few rare ones that let you save and import your data from the demo to the normal game too.

To add to Aeana's post: there are specific enemies later in the game (optional dungeons) that give more stat boosts than other enemies as well. If you do end up wanting to grind you're better off waiting as long as possible to maximize the number of stat gains you can fit into a given battle rank.

This is only if you're REALLY interested in min-maxing however, as the game is certainly completable without going to crazy lengths avoiding fights.

The demo was shit at explaining, but I got a taste of the combat system, the overall world aesthetic and characters and found that they weren't to my liking. I could see why people would like the combat though.

Up to $85 for games I bought for me. This is an important distinction when discussing the total bill with my wife.
Don't forget to remind her that these deals are keeping you home and out of an expensive habit of hookers, motel rooms, and gin.
