Can anyone recommend the Deluxe Edition of Mafia II over the regular? I don't care about the art book/soundtrack, but the extra DLC sounds like it could be good.
Oh man the game is so bad. I got it in one of the indie packs during winter and I praise you for holding on for 5 minutes.Stumpokapow said:Just played about 5 minutes of Doc Clock and the Toasted Sandwich of Time. Do not recommend it, even for $1.25
It works as a standalone game story wise.TomcatTheLion said:SC Conviction is tempting but I haven't played any of the previous SC games. How dependent is Conviction on past games as far as story?

It is not a game. It is just . . . well, a universe sandbox. If you want to put a few planets in orbit and watch them go ahead. But there is not much to do after 15 minutes or so.gravitybear said:has anyone tried universe sandbox? seems unique. I'm a huge sci fi nerd too. Looking for gaf approval before purchase

I switch characters, but it never activates.
Deluxe edition doesn't give you the extra DLC. It just gives you the art book & soundtrack. Buy the Vanilla & Joes Adventure. Buy Jimmy if you want more missions. The other DLC are just suits & cars. The Broken Ska Record said:Can anyone recommend the Deluxe Edition of Mafia II over the regular? I played for about 10 minutes wanting to get the ticket. But I got stuck at a point and didn't care enough to figure it out. I wasn't feeling it.MNC said:Oh man the game is so bad. I got it in one of the indie packs during winter and I praise you for holding on for 5 minutes.

I just purchased Amnesia: The Dark Descent
But man do I get a RE1 & RE2 vibe from those trailers.

Agreed. I think I had it from a previous sale's indie pack but I attempted to play some of it and it was putting me to sleep :/Stumpokapow said:Just played about 5 minutes of Doc Clock and the Toasted Sandwich of Time. Do not recommend it, even for $1.25

It's completely lacking anything "gamey" which might even slightly break your immersion, because all of your interactions with the world are physics-based manipulation of objects and the hud elements are extremely sparse. And of course, you have no weapons.
Easily the scariest game ever imo.

Was gonna wait until I can confirm that Alpha protocol shows up on the last day before I start my constant begging.
Plus I do like the idea of being able to do it 'whenever'.
Come the last day and alpha's on, you will see how a grown man can plead

Made Man Pack: Free access to in-game downloadable pack that lets players get behind the wheel of two different luxury automobiles modeled after classic cars from the period. In addition, Vito will look the part with two new made man suits, including a vintage tux.
I was hoping someone would pop up with worthwhile impressions for this title. Thank you!!Drek said:The Empire/Napoleon pair is ok, but nothing to write home about compared to the previous and newest entry in the series in my opinion. Gun based combat makes it a bit more dull in battle, and moving away from the lineage system to a personnel promotion system is unique but doesn't give you quite the same connection as seeing the grandson of your first ruler step in when his father is assassinated/dies in battle before his time and at the tender age of 20 leads your people to a golden age. They added naval battles which are really cool though.
My personal recommendation if you're looking to get into a new Total War game would be either Medieval II or Shogun II. The later of which is a strong candidate for the end of sale recap day (if they do one). It was $30 earlier in the week. The former's Gold edition is on sale all week at $6.69. Both would be a better picking up point than the Empire/Napoleon set.
Unless you really like the time period though. That is the ultimate caveat with all Total War games. If you like a time period especially well you'll likely find yourself preferring that game.

Yeah, now it's recognized it after running and installing the drivers, but it won't let me change profiles for some damned reason... :\GuiltybyAssociation said:Did you click on Driver Manager (at the top)? Install that? Then go back to Profiles, highlight Xbox 360 Controller Emulator, then click on enable below that. Should hear a little chime or something.
That works for me.

* I generally hate bosses anyways. So maybe if you love bosses, YMMV significantly.
Restarting it a couple of times seemed to fix it. I never noticed it actually stayed on the item bar, so I guess it didn't actually restart last time. :|GuiltybyAssociation said:Try reinstalling the driver again. Make sure it goes through. Then restart the program, see what happens. That's about all I can think of, sorry.

If so, how and how long did it take? I have a ticket with Steam Support, but not too hopeful about my chances there.
