Your wish has come true!

Found this in the DD Deals thread:

$17. Registers on Steam.

Oh shit, thanks mate.

I will wait until tomorrow just incase it goes on sale in the next daily deal, if not, I will definitely grab it. For those wondering, it is on sale for the next 23hours. Cheers.

One purchase, £59.99 (2K pack), card blocked for suspicious activity. Fuck my bank.

Also, what's this noise about playing the games we buy? How much spare time do you think I've got?

Do banks in the UK not attempt to contact you before blocking the card? Steam has never raised a red flag with my bank (which is why I've never bothered to make use of the Wallet), but one afternoon, about a year ago, I did buy an Astraweb data block and received a call barely 30 seconds later. This wasn't the first such purchase, which made it seem a little strange that it'd prompt a call, but good on 'em for being on the ball.

God the Toki Toki achievement was so much effort. 1-7 hard one is a bitch. If the controls were tighter it would be fine, but jesus rewind like 20+ times for that one.

Bit.trip Runner! And I promised myself I would be celibate this year. Sigh. Oh well. The floodgates have opened, drown me and take my lunch money, Valve. Here you go.

Has anybody played the Sega Genesis games that are up on Steam? That Sega Genesis Classics Pack 4 looks mighty tempting at $5.02 but how well does it work? Is it Xbox 360 controller enabled out of the box?

Yes. You can configure it however you like. Also, I might add, playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles on Steam has been a rare treat. I'm really fond of the Steam Mega Drive/Genesis stuff.

xbox 360 controller works but you have to set it up manually on the settings.

The emulator is decent, giving you options like scanlines and sai filtering, aspect ratio correction, etc. You can save the games at any time too (savestate)

I recall all 4 classics pack is on sale a few months ago for about $10 though so you may want to wait until the last day, just in case.

For once, I do not feel bad about giving my money to this guy.

I'm tempted to buy the Witcher 2. I've read good things about it in the OT.

However, I just recently tried out DA:O and hated it, which also had some positive buzz. Guess I have 8 hours to decide :/

Great, I'm on a crappy pc during this weekend and toki tori keeps crashing with an "unknown error" as soon as I enter the main menu :/

I REALLY hope those sunglasses will still be there on monday :(

Nah, they contacted me afterwards then released the funds on my say-so. It's infuriating, I buy from Steam all the time and yet the bank just don't seem to learn. If they block my card once more in the next ten days, I'm moving my account elsewhere.

I wish they'd blocked me from buying Borderlands GoTY. I should've known I'd crack and buy the 2K pack afterwards. £7.50 thrown away :(

Chances of Civ 5 going cheaper than that during the sale.. small?

That's a Steam key too, yeah?

This is my problem. I loaded all my funds into the Steam Wallet and don't have any more room on my CC for purchases of $11....

The Witcher 2 is actually fun. I enjoyed DA:O for the time sink that it was but it barely satisfied me in the way The Witcher 2 did.

I played that shit 3 times in a row. 3!

Yeah, I just bought it from the UK site with PayPal (~$11) and activated it on Steam, downloading right now.

There's no way it's gonna go cheaper than $11 on the Steam sale, that's an almost 80% discount. On Steam right now it's 33% off, I could see maybe 50 or 66% off if a daily deal.

Two questions:

1) Can the Civ 5 from Gamersgate be activated on Steam?

2)for games other than the daily deals (such as Just Cause 2), will it remain at the XX% off until July 10?

Can you give money in your Steam wallet? If not and you really wanted it, I'd be happy to buy it, give you the code and you can gift me something I want of equal value in return.

If want it, though... if you'd rather save your money, that's cool too.

Yes.
Yes. (P.S. I'm 99% sure Just Cause 2 is gonna go on daily deal sometime during the sale.)

Is TDU2 worth the asking price?

I don't recall it being too popular at launch...

The launch was a bit of a disaster in terms of server stability and bugs but things are a lot better in that department now. I think the default control settings hurt peoples opinion of the game too. If you can tweak them to your liking then there's certainly a lot there for your money.

I've put 64 hours in it personally and would say it's worth the gamble if you're interested in the game.

Your offer intrigues me... I will gladly take you up on this offer. Are you sure there is something around the $17-$20 value that you are going to want?

Well, I guess that for today I can buy another ~3€ game ... Swords & Soldiers o AaAaAA ?
Damn tickets...

I own both of these games.

S&S is fun and...dare I say cute? And genuinely humorous.

But AaAaAA isn't just genuinely humorous, it's fucking hilarious and completely unique. That would be my recommendation if you held a gun to my head but they're both great games. Steam sale games of the past that I have actually put some real time into, that's saying something. ;p

ARRRRGH. Civ V! Why!? WHY!? I want to save my money for the Steam Sale...

Someone's gonna have to sell this one to me! I only played Civ 2 back in the day on a buddy's Mac, but I loved it. Not played one since. Am I going to drown in it?

Awesome sales and awesome, I hope you don't mind me stealing some parts of it :3 (to share the love!).

I'm coming back later to ask about certain games, but let me do my shopping list first.

For one, it's probably the cheapest it will be for many months, if not years.

Not good enough? Civ is great and the value will have repaid itself before you even finish one game. DO IT!

There is a demo on Steam, try it out for yourself. I can almost guarantee that you will love it though, it's my first Civ game and I instantly fell in love with it. It really is the sale of Summer (well Winter here) at the moment.

Alright in all seriousness now:

Its the best way to enter the Civ series. It provides an extensive tutorial wich helps a lot with what might at first seem like a big learning curve, but its not. Easy to grasp but hard to master, like the best games. They cut some of the fat from Civ IV on this one, making it a bit more streamlined and a lot more accesible. Its the best Civ IMO and ive been playing a lot of civ since II.

Cant recommend it enough.

Im sorry but i highly recommend it specially for you Stupacabra :p, since its a better way to come back to Civ than Civ IV.

I snagged Oblivion, Lead and Gold and Recettear. Recettear is actually very fun. Really enjoying it so far. Gonna be tough to make the loan payments :S haha.

What's GG?
Also isn't the Borderlands single player worth it? I'm getting either way.

Is it this one

Sid Meier's Civilization® V ?

Edit: Yeah I'm a moron, there's two links at top that say it's this one.

Oh well, I'll just get AaAaAA then ... having 0,36€ more could prove useful in the coming days.

Thanks!

DoW Retribution purchased. Goddamn i need to finish Chaos Rising, but I can't wait to get back into some 3v3s and try the IG. The atmosphere in these games is incredible, even in multiplayer <3.

Gabe seems like a really nice guy to me. Some people are very wealthy, I'd rather that be the good the people.

It's not like he's in it for the cash, he didn't need to ever work again after MS blew up.

There's a practice mode with bots but I haven't tried hosting my own game to see if there was an option to use them in an online match. if you try poking around a few servers you'll eventually find a good game that hopefully goes for a round or two before the host leaves. It's a lot of fun.

It's a really simple team based game. There are four classes to choose from, they each have passive abilities that increase in effectiveness as the player gets a higher score in the match and they've got unique abilities you have to activate. Marking enemy players, tossing dynamite, laying bear traps and rapid fire. It's got a smart respawning system. You can spawn at the dedicated base or mid-field if a friendly player is carrying your teams flag. The flagholder will passively heal all surrounding friendly players. This makes it easier, if somewhat riskier, in completing objectives and gives you a clear target on the enemy team. You want to kill their flagbearer so they have to spawn back at base camp and lose the passive healing. You can revive downed teammates, which nets you experience, which in turn improves your passive abilities making you and your teammates better. You get experience by attempting to and completing objectives. There's a lot of passive, positive reinforcement in the design that encourages team work.

I've played it for nearly two hours, if the community dies tomorrow, I've gotten my 1.50$'s worth. I do hope that people give it a shot though, really fun game. It's fast and kinetic third person shooter. Plus it's pretty badass (and unique) because it's in the wild west.
Actually healing just comes from being around other teammates, not the flag. I think it's a great system. Everything about the game is simple, but very functional, and I hope people will play it beyond the free weekends. They probably won't but I can believe.

First link is from the US store and the second from the UK store. When buying from the UK store you will save some money and only pay about $11.
