Stellar Blade Rated 18+ For Nudity and 'Excessive Violence' in South Korea

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
It was recently revealed that Stellar Blade, the upcoming post-apocalyptic saucy slasher, was given Korea’s most mature rating by the Game Management Committee. It’s yet to be rated by the likes of PEGI or the ESRB, but it’s assumed that it’ll receive 18+ and Mature ratings in those markets, too. The document posted by Korea’s Game Management Committee stated that the driving criteria for this rating was the presence of nudity and excessive violence in the game.
In the report published by the Game Management Committee in Korea, it was stated that Stellar Blade exhibits excessive violence – including decapitation and mutilation – and that the ‘female character’ is ‘appearing naked in her costumes’. The term used by the GMC to describe this was ‘explicit expression of body exposure’.

Reason for the high age rating:

- 직접적인 선정적인 표현 ( Direct sexual expression )

- 과도한 폭력표현 ( Excessive violence )

Ok, fine, pre-ordered

(its 18 rated in the UK also, weird, we aren't usually that prudish/squeamish, does that mean I get to hear Richard Wells saying 'Pegi 18' every time I fire the game up? (I was just reading that thread))

It’s strange to me that Asian games get scrutinize heavily over characters showing skin while some western games feature full nudity and actual sex and get nothing.

I even remember when Catherine coming out people keep calling “porn“ game even tho it has zero nudity and only applied that characters slept together without showing actual sex.

its little unfair…don’t you think?

awesome, so costume tear from injury could be a reality!
including decapitation and mutilation, so possible very detailed and sexy death animation too!

It's strange for those who believe in their fake moral excuses.

This is a campaign against creators who don't bend the knee. It's all about power. Nobody really cares for nudity or any other "controversial" stuff.

I've a theory for this. They were using ugly characters that's why average people could relate and considered it "normal"

Amazing how not Ellie, not even Dina, but fkn Abby got to show a nipple. That is almost a direct attack to people who likes girl-like girls.
Like, "we know you may like Ellie or Dina, but since we know you wont like Abby, here's her sex scene. Deal with it. We wont offer guys something they might like in our game."

Fuck you Druckmann.

UK uses the Europe-wide system, not its own, and there are plenty of similar games which are PEGI 18 so I'm not sure why you're surprised.
