I am starting to really enjoy it. Feels like a mix of several other games I really enjoyed, such as Nier Automata, Code Vein, and Resonance of Fate. I could be better at combat. I feel like I am doing it wrong half the time. Once you get to Zion it really gets interesting.

Man, the Crimson Wing outfit is just perfection. I keep unlocking new skins but I find it hard to move away from that one.

Are you guys getting occasional crashes? I have about 6 hours in now, and have hard crashed out of the game 3 times.

Yeah the PC version has occasional crashing, not sure cause since my friend only had 1 crash in 10 hours of gameplay, while others are slightly more frequent. This update also caused the PS5 version to sometimes crash when starting photo mode or doing a Nikke DLC quest.

The nikke dlc. Is that for some gatcha game or for stellar blade?

I see people complaining and I dont quite get it.
The Nikke DLC pack is extra content for Stellar Blade, but the CD-Key code ppl are complaining about is for they gacha game Nikke. Ppl are complaing cuz the code only spawns if you buy the complete edition os Stellar Blade, meaning players that bought the game day 1 + all DLC, even having the same content as the complete edition they still dont get the code.

Been on for around 7 hours total, not had one crash yet.

Playing on an rtx 4070, 1440p, no DLSS. Everything up high or higher, GPU hovers at around 87% usage.

I get the very odd occasional stutter, nothing major but I just notice it sometimes turning the camera quick.

Other than that, nothing.

Thanks for the clarification. That sucks!

I had a few "out of memory" Unreal crashes yesterday. Changed some settings on the NVidia control panel after looking it up, and today I've been playing for several hours with no issue. Could have been luck, but it looks good so far.

Zero crashes here after 4 hours . Man this game is freakin awesome , I'm mostly parrying most of the time . How are we PC peeps had to wait 1 year for this T_T

If someone think Stellar Blade combat isn't good , show them this and ask them to gitgud (courtesy of Ongbal my parry idol) This fight reminds me of Vergil DMD x Isshin

Well, I've officially completed photomode because nothing will top this shot.

Do you have a link to the settings you changed? I just had another crash after like an hour of exploring the drained water area in Eidos 7 and lost all of my progress...

vsync is on. FPS cap was at 120, I changed it to Unlimited and things improved by around 15 fps on average, so that's something.
Good. Turn vsync off and keep the limiter unlimited always

Set your fps cap through nvidia control panel and it applies to all games

Yeah so not much of a difference was made actually. Right now even with the changed settings up getting 60-80fps depending on the area. I forgot had messed with the other settings before I turned off v-synce and fps limiter. I set everything back on Very High, and I'm back to the 60-80fps zone.

Right now I'm doing some reading on how to improve performance. I don't have g-snyc, but not sure how much of a difference that would've made.

My 3080 struggles with the game on 1440p Very High unfortunately. Cant consistently stay above 80fps.

On my 5080 the final game also runs noticeably worse compared to the Demo, even in the same areas.

Playing maxed on 4K UHD with DLLA. Demo gave me constant 90-140 FPS with these settings and no noticeable stuttering at all. Final game is running around 80 - 100 FPS all the time, but unfortunately with a constant stutter fest with dips below 20 FPS. Which basically is unplayable. Switching AA from DLAA to Quality luckily eliminates most of the noticeable stuttering while FPS also get a nice boost to 100 - 150 FPS. Which is quite a huge jump. However, of course the impact in terms of picture quality is of course also visible. But the stuttering is more annoying than a softer picture. VRAM, RAM etc. are not an issue. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with shader compilation.

Hope Shift Up can do something, but since UE4 is well known for stuttering I do not expect much. However, seeing the Demo makes me wonder what is causing this massive drop in performance. Sure, later areas in the game are much bigger. But even the Demo area in the final game is suffering from the same problem.

While I'm liking the combat, I'm not a fan on how they structured the parry window. It feels like I have to parry WAY before I get hit, making the game mostly about rote memorization than reaction based gameplay. For this reason parrying does not feel as good as other parry-based games. They should have reduced the parry window by a couple frames but shifted it closer to the "on hit" event.

The dodge is weird... in the sense that it seems to have the same window as a perfect parry. You either use it to gain a bit of distance or to dodge yellow attacks, and that's pretty much it. It would have been cool if the game was designed around weaving parrying and dodging together based on the type of attack the enemy is performing (since they have the same windows, or very similar at least). Instead you are either parrying or dodging. Wasteland Gigas had a hint of this kind of gameplay, and it felt really good.

Anyway I'm only at the beginning, I've only explored a bit of the Wasteland. The soundtrack is pretty good, the story seems interesting thus far and the combat animations are slick. Overall I'm enjoying my time with the game.

NVidia control panel -> 3D config -> 3D shader cache size. This was set to "set by the driver" by default. I changed it to 10GB. Haven't had a crash since then.

I also increased the Windows paging file size, but I suspect it was the shaders, not this. Mentioning it just in case.

Thanks, and great timing, I'm about to jump back in. Crossing my fingers that this fixes it. I appreciate it!

the combat in this is better than in Nier Automata.

there, I said it.

Not very difficult. Combat and bosses in Automata SUCK. A lot. Even Nier Replicant does it better in both departments.

Stellar Blade has amazing battles, some of the best in the genre, specially one in the late game, as tight as the last fight against Vergil in DMC 3, which IMO has not been yet topped.

Ok so it's not just me then. At Xion (especially mid game when there are more NPCs) is where performance is at it's worst. Memory Square in Xion has my FPS dip to 45 fps. Great Desert I hover between 60-80fps. Smaller areas I can stay above 110fps. I've fiddled with some of the settings, but the only thing that makes an actually noticeable difference is setting the Graphics to Low.

So I don't know. I keep hearing from people how amazing this PC port is and how butter smooth it runs. I mean at the end of the day 60+ fps is a good thing, but I feel like my setup should be doing better.

Just spent a few hours playing in VR then switched back to 2D to fight Scarlet (her arena runs like garbage in the current buiild of UEVR) and holy crap I miss the VR already. Really lets you appreciate the scale of the environments and the enemy design. Never really noticed how slimy and nasty some of these creatures are lol

But yeah I've said it before and I'll say it again: EVE in VR is a thing of absolute beauty.

Only problem is I have to turn down a lot of settings to get a comfortable VR framerate (120ish). DLSS also helps of course.
