I don't see them beating Spurs this year in a series TBH... I feel like they are creating something to shut him down right now.

The mighty Spurs that got beat by the Clippers last year. I dont think the Spurs are athletic and explosive enough to keep up with Golden State, even with the Popovich offensive wizardry.

The Thunder have two of the most explosive players in the league, but theyre poorly coached, their supporting cast isnt good, and they end up having a litany of late game meltdowns because they dont have a third wheel consistently stepping up to the plate.
(And if Im Durant, I get the FUUUUCK outta that no-luxury tax havin' cheapskate franchise in the offseason)

Everyone always posts that .gif of Curry putting CP3 on skates, but Paul has good head to head numbers against Curry and from an eye test point of view, Chris is better than anyone else in the league at making Curry uncomfortable. He's stripping Curry all the time, cutting off his dribble penetration, disrupting his rhythm with all kinds of (borderline illegal) contact.
The Clippers have the roster and personnel to go toe to toe with Warriors, but I doubt Griffin gets himself into top notch physical condition by the time the playoffs role around, so its unlikely we get a 7 game series out of that Matchup.

As for the Cavs, they have the combination of explosive scoring and elite defense that is needed to beat the Warriors, (and healthy Channing Frye+Kyrie is a legit scary weapon for them) but I trust Kerr and the Warriors squad in a pressure situation more than I trust a team with Kevin Love, JR Smith and head coach Tyronne Lue.

Funny things are happening at Harvard. Just ask Kathy Delaney-Smith, who has been head coach of the Crimson's women's team since 1982. In 34 years, she has seen a lot. But this year she's seeing things she has never seen before. She found one of her assistants and several players engrossed in YouTube for an hour, rewinding again and again, breaking down YouTube footage of a one-handed Steph ballhandling series that ended in a crazy tough shot. "I found myself thinking, 'Well if you've got a spare hour, I know some things you could be working on instead,'" Delaney-Smith says.

The disease of Stephitis has spread far beyond the Ivy League. It's so immensely tough to average four made 3-pointers a game over a full season that, just 11 years ago, not one high school boy in the whole country managed to do it, according to Max Preps. This season, 30 players did it.

On Twitter, in March, I asked if people had noticed players outside the NBA "doing Steph Curry things." The replies were immediate and unanimous: Wrote Dan Shanoff: "I coach 4th-graders and all they want to do is shoot extra-long shots (and, when they make them, tap their heart and point up)." Eric Johnson supervises recess at Ashland Elementary in rural New Hampshire. After Curry's big game-winner over the Thunder, recess became all about making that shot. "What surprised me was that they never stopped shooting the shot ... for 40 minutes. They each had to hit it. They talked about the game the whole time."

Stephitis cannot be quarantined. LeBron James may have had his exhausted heart broken by Curry's Warriors in last year's NBA Finals, but LeBron's 8-year-old son, Bryce, still wears No. 30 in honor of Steph.

It's not all that unusual that, with tons of time on the shot clock, Ole Miss guard Stefan Moody recently used a fancy dribble combination into a step-back to score against Mississippi State in the second half. What's a little strange is that he did so at least 8 feet behind the 3-point line.

Mark Jackson was right, Curry is ruining the game of basketball!

I mean if Curry makes half of those this goes from a close Spurs win to a Warriors solid win

And if Spurs don't turn the ball over so much they win comfortably.

Game was what is was, and Spurs won fair and square :)

Also Spurs defense might have something to do with Curry missing a few of those 3 pointers ;-)

Even though the Warriors lost and didn't play like themselves, I felt like they were in control of that game and the Spurs were just hanging on. The Warriors D is nasty.

lol they played good considering but that's ridiculous. Spurs controlled the tempo the whole game.

Yeah I'm not denying the Spurs won, but I'm not going to dump on Curry and the Warriors or say the Spurs should now be favored in the WCFs like some people are saying other places. I said when the game was tied late regardless of who wins you have to feel good that both teams have a chance in the WCFs.

the spurs D went up against a better offense and shut them down so if the warriors D was nasty, what was the spurs D?

They controlled the tempo and needed a few things to go their way to squeak out a win. I'm just impressed at the Warriors tbh. I usually expect these kinds of games to end in blowouts because it's on the second night of a back to back (look at what happened to Cleveland tonight for example). Even when it was positioned for SA to blow the game wide open, the Warriors kept it close because of timely threes and good D.

The Spurs got everything what they wanted and the Warriors were right there ready to steal it. Basically, what's going through my mind right now is that the Warriors can blow the Spurs out. The Spurs can't blow the Warriors out.

I don't know if it means anything come playoff time. But I'm pretty confident in the Warriors right now.

I was really close to betting Spurs moneyline in this game. Fuck.

Yes, should have. you have two more chances but I think GS will win one or both possibly. i am still calling GS not winning the championship.

Spurs put some D on them and really hurt their confidence. I feel it has been the good play plus confidence that has gotten GS to where they are, when you lose that in a game or a few games you do start losing.

This is why it's tough to say if you should put money on the next game, it could really go either way imo

Top defenders at the PG position

CP3
Mike Conley
Ricky Rubio
Patrick Beverley
Marcus Smart
Avery Bradley
John Wall
Kirk Hinrich
Matt Delavadova
Curry

If that's in descending order from best to worst, it's not correct (CP3 is fine at the top...but Curry below Hinrich and Delly?? Come on).

For this season...

According to defensive rating, CP3, Curry and Smart would be tied at the top with 103 points allowed per 100 possessions.

According to defensive win shares, Avery Bradley would be #1 with 4.2 wins, followed by Curry then CP3.

According to difference in FG% (FG% of offensive player - FG% of offensive player when defensive player in question), Curry is top out of those 10 with -3.9% difference (followed by Bradley and Delly). He also defends on average 10 shots a game, which is higher amongst guards (which means teams are attacking him and he still holds up.

Finally from the video, Warriors team defensive rating with Curry on the court is 97.9 vs 107.7 with him off it (skewed a bit considering Draymond but Curry does play significant minutes with the second unit so you can still draw the conclusion that it's a net positive).

And if you want proof that passes the eye test, watch the video.

edit- Is Avery Bradley a 1? Seems like he plays the 2 more than anything.
