Great beta that I sadly couldn't put real time into due to real life. Whoever thought being a teacher meant lots of free time was mistaken. Grading all damn weekend. Still, Mika is awesome, Karin I need to come to grips with and I lost more than I won, but it's fine. I never felt blown out in my losses save for a few. Lots of them were close and just a matter of getting more playtime/practice.

capcom should just follow dota 2's model and let people play the game now till release imo
That will kill casual sales.

You have to get that "trade and grade" going.

Guys, remember there still might be stress tests here and there like Combo mentioned in his blog. Expect the beta to go up and down randomly in the coming weeks.

I also can't praise Ryu's animations enough. SO GOOD.

You can feel every punch, I love this. I'll miss his st. MP and c. HP going back to Ultra.

But I also miss his far HP from IV in this game. It would look incredible. I don't care if it's bad, that animation is godlike.

They kinda gave it to Ken, but it's lame, just like Ken.

Right, but I get more confused about the meter. I know the health is full when round 2 starts, so I only check the bars, and I usually then have to check the health bar as well to see if the portrait reflects my character.

Then, if it's a mirror match, I'm fucked.

But maybe it's just me and everyone else had no problem adjusting.
Don't let the flowchart get to your head man, it's ok to ask for a hug '-)

Are the graphics options in the PC version not fully implemented yet? The system requirements listed by Capcom greatly exceed my own. Yet I'm running the game at the highest settings with 0 drop in FPS. I get a smooth 60 FPS on every stage except for the Waterfall stage, and the FPS only drops when im in the right corner of the screen during command grab animations and nothing else. I'm running a GTX 760 2GB and AMD Phenom 965. I shouldn't be getting anywhere close to 60 FPS on the recommended settings.

That I'll give you tho. The meters at times, I also be unaware that I'm looking at my opponent's meter when sides have switched.

The game is not demanding. I have a gaming rig from 2009 and I'm running it smoothly.

So how was the cross-play feature, and can you select to use PC only if you want? The thing that kills online the most is when people are using their systems via wi-fi. While this might no longer be as exclusive to consoles, it's still going to exist more on that platform than PC.

yeah, not a fan of the switch between rounds, guess we'll get used to it though.

Also, the old announcer was more hyped, this due is all cool all the time.

Good, because the old announcer didn't know when to shut the hell up. It got so obnoxious that it would actually talk over its own phrases.

All hidden, never knew if you were fighting a PS4 or PC person, unless their name clued you in somehow.

Couldn't figure out a good way to use meter with Rashid. The one is a decent GTFO move, but I didn't get what the other ones would be good for.

Ex tornado kicks all day since you can vskill cancel for pressure. Especially when they're in the corner.

Man, every game is boring. I want SFV back. :(

Right!??? It's crazy. I love 3rd Strike, have Fightcade, can't go back right now. SF4 might as well not even exist either though that one was already off the radar. Now it's properly dead and buried for me.

I don't think I've ever liked a SF game as much as I've liked this one. I think Capcom is doing a great job. As the game gets older I know that Capcom will fix whatever problems that arise from it but the game runs beautifully. I just hope they improve the netcode. In my experience the pc had a much better connection than my ps4 did and both are wired. Also the pc version seemed to run smoother which probably is much more because of the monitor I was using vs the family tv.

Ken's actually pretty cool in this game. Reminiscent of the alpha games whereas I find some fun in using him again and some worthy acknowledgement even when fighting against him. A factor of that is also heavily due to capcom actually hitting it on all cylinders with V for the most part, as I find myself doing more head nods than head shakes for what they've been doing with V so far and am desiring of at least casual usage of like 75-80% of the roster as is.

Having said that, I still agree with duke about Ken being lame, as it's still fuck Ken season, 4 seasons a year tho. I know he your boy and all, but...

Yeah, EX tornado kicks lead to big stun combos, like EX kicks > cr hp, st mp > whatever (mp uppercut into ex uppercut if in corner, or you can cancel mp into v trigger and finish with hp uppercut or super, or you can regular dash kick, or you can ex dash kick and juggle after ... see below).

Also, his EX dash kick works well out of V trigger, you can juggle them with uppercut, ex uppercut or super after.

I felt like deleting USF4 a few hours ago. If I needed space at all on my PS4 I would have. You know you want some fightcade action though! Last Blade 2 is where it's at.

Finally got a chance to play the PC beta. It runs VERY well for me. Only had one laggy match. My only gripe was the lack of stick support. I couldn't use my stick that's has a dual shock 4 pad hack and had to settle using a pad, which I can't use well except for Third Strike.

Did you try JoytoKey?

I'm at work, but I miss the beta already.

Birdie is my spirit animal.

I thought that too, but then R Mika, and now Birdie might have to take a seat.

It was great, though. My final match was against a Ryu, and I forgot all his moves for some reason. I scored a narrow victory and then remembered all of his goofy shit, and went hard. He's a fucking monster still.

On that point, I really don't feel like any singular character is outright bad or has to work too hard for their wins compared to others. Once the game actually drops, we will see, but I hope it continues the pretty balanced feeling it's contained so far.

No way man. Rashid is totally mega OP and Ken is dogshit!! Also the game is way too easy and Evo won't be hype because SF4 pros have already totally mastered the game and there's just nothing left to figure out

I wish everyone had that kind of animation where the attack stops at the block and then retreats, instead of just pausing and continuing.

Those 09ers know their Street Fighter, if they say the game is too easy Capcom should totally add "difficulty" in the form of combo extenders, crouch techs and jab spam. Also throw in the plinks, option selects, invincible backdashes, vortexes and whatever else they specifically require to cope with said difficulties, otherwise no hype. Can you imagine if Evo had new players? Nobody would want to watch!

On a serious note, I noticed many characters didn't have unique neutral jump normals. Wonder if that's by design. Also, the main menu mentioned something about replaying a tutorial, so I'm hoping Capcom has an in-depth tutorial this time around, but without Dan.

Am I crazy in thinking the game performs better on PC during the actual matches than during training mode? I particularly notice a slight frame drop during Chun's Super but only while training, this doesn't happen when I'm facing other characters.

Also, is there a PC performance thread? We had one for MKX... but then it was MKX :x

EDIT: Whoops, this is not the beta thread :[
Not crazy, match making causes slowdowns while searching for an opponent.

I have withdrawal from the beta now :(

I suspect the original plan was July, October, January , July got bumped to august after the initial stress test bomb went poorly but Octobers just finished and now I figure we'll have one mid January which will also be 6-8 weeks before release.

That last beta release might well test out the final version of the game too - Launch it with the 4 characters we haven't had in a beta yet and then make the other 12 unlockable for 500-5000 fight money (put ken and ryu under the 5000 fee). Put in every revealed stage but make half of them cost 2000 a piece and then, on top of that give players 5000 fight money each day of the beta after the first so that people who don't have as much time to play can still unlock stuff to make sure the content delivery system works properly. The last 4 hours of this final beta , everything could be unlocked for everyone all at once to just stress the hell out of the servers. Hell, maybe even make that final beta test an open beta for everyone world wide too !

Really though I just want to play more SF5 :(

Capcom will be dumb to put stages behind a Fight Money paywall, because no one would buy them.

I think only costumes and characters should be a paying thing.

Like it should have two currencies, fight money for big stuff and ingame money for shit like artworks etc..

Also, remember they said they will turn the beta on and off randomly from now on, so that's cool.
