I'm seeing a lot of talk of rage quits, but are we sure they aren't just legit disconnects? How many button presses and how much time would it actually take to quit the match? Wouldn't their character just be standing there long enough for you to KO them? You think people are yanking out their internet cables to avoid a loss? It takes forever to load back into the game. Why would anyone do that?

All they'd have to do is press the PS button and close the application. I guess my ragequit could have been a simple disconnect, but it was during the game winning super animation, so I assumed it was a ragequit.

We need to do a petition for Capcom to have rankings based on characters. Not overall ranking. If I am destroying everyone with Ken and I am on a high rank. When I want to try out Rashid my rank for Rashid should be low so when I go online I don't get destroyed as I am already on a high rank due to my wins with Ken.

This makes me want to go back to Ken as trying Rashid os effecting my rankings.

Well, on the flipside of that coin, if you're someone who's a good overall player, you're still going to be at a much higher skill level than bad or new players who have the same rank as you, so you'll just be stomping them and taking whatever rank metric they've earned. There's downsides to both methods.

Also, everything is going to be reset prior to release, anyway, so I don't think the current ranks are really anything to be concerned about. Just play what feels best, or what you most want to learn.

I'm not saying fighting game dudes on the internet aren't abrasive, but I feel like einchy's post would have gone over a lot better if he had asked for advice on how to overcome turtling or otherwise shown an interest in improving his game instead of calling his opponent disgusting.

Seriously. His bad attitude was met in kind. It's not an FGC thing.

It's called venting, guys. Everybody goes to The Salt Mines every now and then.

Fair enough. That would certainly be the time to do it. Still makes no sense to me from a time perspective though. Getting into the game from launch takes forever. Not worth it to save a couple points that don't mean anything. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that some people really care about their rank even if it is temporary.

Btw I think you beat me up in ultra on PS4 a while back.

Sure, we all been there. That doesn't mean we all try to talk trash about our opponents because we lost.

FGC experience has told me that that is exactly what happens. :p

That's fine. But if you decide to vent in a public forum, expect to get a response.

Yeah, his post didn't require the sort of response he got at all. But this is derailing.

Everyone should just use Rashid. #SpeedKing #Over9000

Well we could have it the best of both worlds

Lets say. When you first play SFV only your on level 1. You main a character and you progress yourself to level 50.

If you decide to switch characters you start from level 10. Basically what I am saying is you progress up to level 10 with any characters. After that each level up is for that specific character.

This ensures people who are complete noob to the mechanics have up to Level 10 to improve.

Is this not clearly a joke picture to you? I don't think anyone has ever posted the meme in earnest.

It's not venting when you're asking why your opponent didn't go easy on you or let you win. It's entitlement.

Jesus, man. I think some of you guys are taking my post more seriously than I did.

Like BronsonLee said, I was just venting. It's not like I'm here asking for the game to be nerfed and I'm in no means "entitled"

For me it's harder to not take advantage of my opponent being stupid and predictable. It's not "trying hard" if you don't have any ground game and I know the only way you can do anything is by jumping so I'll just wait for it and chill. If I do anything else I'd just chide myself for trying too hard and think "why would I make this more complicated than it is?" I'm comfortable enough in SF4 that I can rush down and end matches vs low-skill players quickly. I can also go really easy on beginners and give them a nice learning experience in that game. I'm not as familiar with SF5 to do that, so you gotta take the slow loss. Be careful what you wish for because I suspect after more familiarity people will blow newbies up and not give them any time to think about what happened.

It's also possible that it's not about the points. The guy may have had a string of bad matches and then just decided to say "to hell with it" and close out the game. Some people get like that.

If we played on PS4, that had to have been a good while ago, so good memory if so! What's your PSN?

Rashid is such a badly designed character why is everything he does plus on block?

What makes you think so? From what i have seen from him everything is negative and a lot are even unsafe. Some are safe on block but definitely not plus.

Same with Claws roll attack. All except EX are unsafe on block. But I have to admit the punish timing feels a little bit weird.

Is there any official word on how stage selection works?

Even though I've got the estate stage unlocked, it never picks it. If it requires both people to have it unlocked, capcom needs to change that shit in the final version

I hope Capcom copies Smash 4 and locks you out for 10 min after a ragequit.

Are you sure that Vega's L roll is unsafe? I have never been punished.

His unmashed spinny move is safe on block. I think that's the big one.

I think it's based on who's "hosting"? If you have Kanzuki Estate as your favorite, then it'll get selected if you're player 1, I believe.

It's cool, dude. We cool.

I do generally try to ease up on new players because I never want to be "that guy" who turned someone off of fighting games, but there are limits to it. If someone is making an earnest effort and are simply having trouble keeping up, I'll deliberately do bad plays to let them at least feel like they're an active participant.

Unless you don't block on wakeup. Then I'll just meaty fierce you over and over until you get the hint.

The game really, really needs in-game frame data. A lot of stuff feels/looks really ambiguous right now.

Yes, it can be dp'd or tagged with fast light. I think it might be -3 or -4.

Timing is really iffy though. I think his last hit actually does very little blockstun so the actual timing is hard to see.

EDIT: Just do dummy recording guard reaction to test.

It is. You can punish with a jab.
Folks online must be terribad, then, because I was doing c.LP to roll, back into c.LP for pressure. I thought it was positive for frame traps because I was getting so much out of it, lol!

That move kind of sucks, then. Vega already can't cancel anything but lights into a special with the claw up. I admit I am struggling to find a groove with him.

I don't think they really suck. But the timing is just weird and needs some muscle memory to learn it. Was the same with chuns legs tbh., possibly even scissor kicks.

Scissor Kick L is definitely safe on block in beta 1. I played at least 200 Bison matches and never had it punished.

Yeah, this is false. For every story like yours, there's probably hundreds where people got turned off from fighting games because instead of helping to learn the game, they got absolutely shit on from a great height from people with a higher skill level.

If he was high level, he'd be good enough to back off the throttle. I know in VF5 I was, and it didn't affect when I would actually play.

I'm not really sure why you're saying what I am saying is false, it doesn't seem to really conflict all that much, it's more a matter of the outlook.

My friend is most definitely high level and was one of the top 5 MVC2 players on the east coast when I met him. The first time we played each other occasionally still comes up, years later he admitted to me that when we first played he honestly thought I had never played before, I don't think most people are getting dumped on from that far of a distance.

I'm going to assume you are a high enough player that you know what you are talking about with toning down the throttle. If what you're saying is true I'm sure he could have (I made the assumption and I'm not that great of a player by my own confession), but ultimately for the most part he chose not to. I'm sure he tried stuff he wouldn't have done in tournaments sitting there playing me in 100+ best 3/5 matches in a sitting at times, but he wasn't really taking it easy on me either.

Anyone's fps being cut in half randomly during training and online matches? Happened after winning the first round and then the fps took a shit causing me to lose the game.

You can cancel FP as well and link after both MK and RH if you want a better confirm. Claw up mode is for winning footsies and claw off is for combos and mixups.
