As a certified garbage king Ken player, which shoryuken should I use? I'd like to practice one and put it into muscle memory for antiair and reversal purposes, but learning all four (lp, mp, hp, EX) and mixing them up depending on the situation is still waaaaay out of my reach. I can barely do a shoryuken on command, let alone on reaction, so let's start simple.

Folks online must be terribad, then, because I was doing c.LP to roll, back into c.LP for pressure. I thought it was positive for frame traps because I was getting so much out of it, lol!

That move kind of sucks, then. Vega already can't cancel anything but lights into a special with the claw up. I admit I am struggling to find a groove with him.

Everyone's playing the game like USF4, which means they're, by default, going too slow.

I feel like it's going to be real tough to people to go backwards to SF4 from 5.

Anyone's fps being cut in half randomly during training and online matches? Happened after winning the first round and then the fps took a shit causing me to lose the game.

Sort of. That happens to me and then the game will stay at the horrible framerate until I either change the graphic settings or exit the game. I've noticed it's more likely to happen the longer my session is.

He's so boring to me, even though he's got a ton of changes which are really cool to differentiate him from Ryu. Rashid and Mika are far more interesting to me.
I feel like rashid is the real noob central. Really easy to play as and will likely be nerfed in more than one way come release.

I *think* it's Medium and EX like SF4 for wake ups, but I'm not sure about that.
You can cancel FP as well and link after both MK and RH if you want a better confirm. Claw up mode is for winning footsies and claw off os for combos and mixups.
Claw off also has faster punches sans st.HP maybe.

Light for random yolo / reversal

Medium for anti-air

Heavy/EX for combos

I still really like Karin.

A lot of the people I'm playing though don't like her at all. They keep beating the shit out of her.

It makes her forget all the shit she was committing to muscle memory in training and panic.

Also, there's something about knowing I can't chip out with really low life that immediately causes me to go "close out. close it out. Jesus can you imagine if you give them an opening with so little life and they put together a run can you imagine wait no you don't have to imagine because YOU'RE NOT CLOSING OUT AND THEY'RE FUCKING DOING IT TO YOU RIGHT NOW YOU ASSHOLE YOU KNOW THEY'RE JUMPING IN why don't you do that anti-air that links to NO WHY DON'T YOU JUST EAT THIS FUCKING FOOT, IDIOT."

Anyone else still finding it takes forever to get into matches? I've had next to no matches in the beta since it takes 10+ minutes to match me up usually. My NAT is open etc. and it doesn't seem to be a problem for any other game I play online, but this one is so inconsistent. It was actually better in the first beta for me :(

MP and EX have i-frames. MP is generally best for anti air purposes. HP/EX for damage.

Vega is bad in this build. That's why I haven't touched him since more characters were unlocked. Waste of time trying to play him.
He seems like the best to me and I haven't lost a match with him yet this beta but I'm both unreasonably biased and playing against people who clearly don't play fighting games so I couldn't say for sure.

That and I haven't had a TON of time with the beta compared to some people.

Mika is just too fun in this, hoping she isn't super popular upon release so I can use her in peace -_-

The way she can combo from normals, links and light strings into her CA reminds me a lot of Clark, except it's easier with her since her CA is QCB instead of HCB.

Only go into roll for punishes and if you hitconfirm cr.lk, cr.lp. Light roll is also a decent poke from far, the last hit goes over lows, and if blocked from a distance it's safe vs everything but Kens ex dp.

Claw Vega controls the game from mid range. Poke people to death and don't let them jump, claw c.hp only loses to a few jump normals. When you get close, poke out back into mid or frametrap into claw off then go ham.

With claw: clk, s.hp xx stance is a really good frametrap. If s.hp hits, combo with s.lk, cmp xx mk roll if its blocked Vega is 0, and in range for lk/mk/ex cmd throw or s.lk, cmp xx mk roll if they jump. If they mash, walk back then whiff punish or use s.lp. Claw off s.lp is 1f faster, hits crouching, and has huge range. Can even do some SFxT jab pressure with it.

I've never played 3S (or any version of SF3 I think) and this is my first exposure to Karin. Man, she is really awesome and is probably my favourite of the characters in the beta right now. Really considering maining her.

EDIT: guess she's from Alpha 3, shows what I know!

What have you been using as her anti-air? For deep jump-ins s.mp has been really good, but when they're right on top of me I've been trying cr.mp and it's just not working at all.

Karin was in Alpha 3.

She's from Alpha 3, not SF3. Still, good to hear someone's clicking at least.

Dear god I am loosing against Kens that pretend to play USF IV. This is getting depressing. I should stop D:

For some reason I thought things were perpetually stuck in training mode for everyone, but I guess people are still finding matches? I haven't found one in at least 30 minutes, though.

So much this. I have been playing USFIV for years and been playing recently also. All these Ken's ranked at level 11, play JUST like this is SFIV.

Wack, I care less that you're ranked at 11 or whatever. Shots fired.

I've had the most matches today than I had in all the other times I've hopped on the beta

I am so bad at this game but improving! Today I was winning couple matches and both ended in disconnect. :D

Although I did notice, I didn't get my fight money after battle. In full game that would suck. I hope they have some system to still give them to player, that was winning or something. Because if I loose my DLC character bucks, because someone can't look losses on his stat page... :p

All in all this is super cool game. I think movement and all feels a lot better than in SF4. I am really looking forward to upcoming betas and full release!

First thing I looked for.

I was SO bummed out during my first Mika match. Couldn't believe they had gone with english VA for her. I expected to see the toggle in the final game, but seeing it the language options in the beta was a cool suprise.

So weird. I was having match after match 2 days ago, but now I literally haven't had a single one in 35-40 minutes straight in training mode. I wonder if they've done something with region/rank filtering.

Is the roll safer on block while the claw is off?

Is s.HP x Stance Swap heavily positive on block, then?

I feel like the roll loses to a lot of random stuff, and is prone to crush counters. As a punish, I would rather use f.HP or c.HK.

Which claw pokes, if any, are positive on block?

Figuring out the frame data of a character is so important for my way of learning. :p

I'm really liking Karin, but I need to learn combos and matchmaking is just giving me matches like every minute. Oh well hopefully I can still play some tomorrow, no time tonight.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I mained Vega in Early SF4, ST & CVS2. I feel like I know when the chatacter is strong & when he is weak. This Vega feels weaker than Vanilla 4 Vega, who as you know was one of the worst characters in that game.

been slaying with Karin but damn that bitch needs work. But then again I'm not confident enough in this busted ass controller to start using qcf+k for my bnb. Rather just rushdown hopscotch all day.

But still, despite the wins, her moveset still has so many glaring weaknesses.
