Rashid I am unsure of, turteling Kens however are a real problem for my R Mika so far though.

I've found that most projectile spammy Kens will get impatient if you just start cutting a few promos and absorbing the hadoukens.

IMO, I think Mika's worst matchup in the beta is Vega.
Vega with the claw on just keeps her out of where she wants to be.

Makes sense, I just haven't been fighting too many Vegas (thankfully).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I mained Vega in Early SF4, ST & CVS2. I feel like I know when the chatacter is strong & when he is weak. This Vega feels weaker than Vanilla 4 Vega, who as you know was one of the worst characters in that game.

as a ST and CVS2 Vega player, its hard to adjust to SFV Claw because he's always been a "piercing character" with good normals and can strike through attacks. Being a charge character gave him the added defense necessary for rushing down with good charge partitioning. With the motions as a dp it feels awkward to do Barcelona especially since it can easily be stopped and has no attack on start up besides EX.

Realizing that the game has auto block may help me get adjusted to him. Other than that his targets are nice, and pressing the grab combination to Izuna drop feels clumsy in my opinion compared to god like lever throws, and his escape being a V-Reversal is kinda wack, along with the removal of his flip kick which was his best dp..... ugh. Also the attack at the end of his roll should be an overhead most definitely.

Ken's Shoryu's being that safe is a bad fucking decision. I'm saying it right now.
Shoryu isn't safe at all, but getting hit by it is annoying as fuck, but I've got in the habit of meter watching again.

I certainly wouldn't use my experience with Vega from SVC Chaos to determine how strong he is in this game.[/QUOTE]
People actually select him in that game?

But strength is relative to the other characters in the same game, how strong he was in ST doesn't really matter...

Are you making proper use of both stances?

To be fair, I think It was probably just a lag glitch.

I HOPE it was anyway...

If the tornado is on the screen it accelerates his movements.
If he kicks through the tornado, it pushes him back through the tornado the other way.
If he's using the tornado and just kicking through it repeatedly say thank you to him for being a scrub and wasting his tornado.

Phew, what a day of beta. Super fun.

Really latched onto Rashid, his neutral buttons are pretty great and his pressure into grabs is hilarious. The Cross up V-Trigger is nasty, as are most of his options. Insanely strong zoner too.

Mika is also super fun and not as gimmicky as I thought she would be. Figured out some grab resets with microphone that just gets you 300 damage after a stun, lol.

I cannot figure out what to do with Vega for the life of me. I played him in Vanilla SF4 and he feels just as stiff as that, but with a mode switch that changes him into a slightly more fun character. His poke game is good, but as soon as someone like Karin gets in on your shit, good luck dealing with that!

That being said, oh my god how the hell do I hit Karin. Her normals and close range game are doing me head in, so i usually just try to out range her.

The Ken army ranges from SFIV Ken (easy mode, you can't link lights to mediums/hards you silly billy's) to new Ken (fuck my life he's good and I wish i knew how to fight it).

EDIT: There is ONLY ONE Necalli player in my region and he makes me wish I could use Necalli and not feel like i'm the slowest Street Fighter on earth.

You people saying Vega is bad are nuts. Great normal range, great natural movement, extremely fast specials that unnaturally chain together in such away that actually trying to punish it is a terrible idea...

Vega is SUPER good.

It need better range huh?

Terrible damage and range.

Y'all already know.

Karin's really fucking tough to come to grips with on a Dual Shock. Damn. May move on to Mika for now.
I know that feel. This old ass 360 pad has reached the worn stages of it's life after a 5 year run. Time to get a new fight stick ASAP. Plus I really need to alternate between normals, my thumb is not enough for those button presses.

I think SFV Vega is good overall but It's a bigger challenge for "2D Vega" players to adapt imo. Because I love the bastard, but shit so many habits to curve. But If there's anything to add, I think you can fuck most Vega players up by crouching the Barcelona. CPU did it to me and it threw me off.

Literally one person said it.

Rashid is the Ultimate Marvel 3 Dante of this game. Low damage output, but will attract the stylish players. No wonder Richard Nguyen latched onto him.

Is the roll safer on block while the claw is off?

Is s.HP x Stance Swap heavily positive on block, then?

I feel like the roll loses to a lot of random stuff, and is prone to crush counters. As a punish, I would rather use f.HP or c.HK.

Which claw pokes, if any, are positive on block?

Figuring out the frame data of a character is so important for my way of learning. :p

Yeah unfortunately Vega is the only character without frame data right now so I've had to test it myself.

Lk roll is -3 or -4 in both stances.

S.mk and c.mp are + or neutral. S.mk has the same range as c.mk and is a really good poke vs lows. Claw s.mp is -, but its still his best poke and with Vegas walkspeed, it's the best poke in the game right now.

Both c.lk and S.hp xx stance are 0 on block, but S.hp xx stances leaves you at a really good range(perfect for cmd grab) and Vegas clawless s.lp is the best jab/light atk in the game (imo).

Anyone else still finding it takes forever to get into matches? I've had next to no matches in the beta since it takes 10+ minutes to match me up usually. My NAT is open etc. and it doesn't seem to be a problem for any other game I play online, but this one is so inconsistent. It was actually better in the first beta for me :(

I was getting constant matches this morning. Seriously, I could barely jump in/walk up to the training dummy before I'd get another fight request. Last night I had a fair bit more time in the training room between matches.

From the introductory videos, I though I'd really enjoy Necali and Rashid. I went in thinking that Necali was a faster Hawk, but he turned out to be more like Honda with a nerfed headbutt and E.Ryu's axe kick. Rashid's rushdown game seemed really fun, but I realized that there's no way I'm going to be able to play him well in this beta.

Vega and Karin have been my strongest characters. Vega was the first character I picked up, having mained him (and Bison) in SFIV, but being unable to cancel C.MK/C.MP (with claw on) is really weird and his V-Skill, V-Trigger, and command throw leave a lot to be desired. I wasn't really feeling his Barcelona attack, either. But then I went through the whole cast and back to him and just poked/rolled to victory after victory.

Karin isn't necessarily as technical as I thought she'd be from her introduction. I doubt I'll main her in the actual released game, but it was easy to understand her tools and normals.

I've been on for over an hour and haven't gotten a single matchup.

I even closed the game and started it back up.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm rank 890 if it makes a difference.

Ten Karins in a row, ten wins in a row.

Capcom's been hosting tournaments and simplifying their game to draw new players in, but apparently all they really needed to do was put in some loli chick. Did they post character use information after the previous betas? I'm really interested to see what the breakdown for this stage is.

Necalli's command grab is probably the worst move in the beta.
No range, no damage, , no type of invincibility, horrible recovery and on top of that, 8 FRAMES OF STARTUP.
Absolute trash.

Does it grab people if you cancel into it off a blocked normal like a jab? That might be the utility, kinda like Q in 3s or SF4 Fei Long.

Mika is the hypest character in the whole game, by far. I finally fought someone who used her and saw some awesome moves done on me like I was the scripted loser. Was cheering like a fan by the end. Goooood stuff, Capcom.

Only normal that would be possible to get that off of would be standing MK, which is +2 on block and special cancellable. Not at home to check if it works- but would not be surprised if the S.MK pushes him too far out.

Vega feels like he's got stuff. Stance switch combos, lots of tools, etc. Sure, he isn't a poking powerhouse but it seems he's got more stuff in return. Dive looks kinda eh though at least against Mika. Her cr.mp beats it pretty bad, lol

His EX Dive is nuts though. You can hit down at the apex to speed its decent and stuff all sorts of stuff. I don't really use his non Ex. Version at all though.

Finally unlocked Kanzuki Estate before I go to sleep. Had only short time with it but it's by far my favorite stage so far.

But then I went through the whole cast and back to him and just poked/rolled to victory after victory.

I really do love this game but one thing I have definitely noticed is that repetition is the key to victory at the moment. Experimentation outside of the lab leads to death. That can be said of all fighting games, but its REALLY strong in this game. Mostly due to the rush down focus I assume, but I think the limited options in the movesets also contribute. Even if I don't use V-Trigger as often.

His pokes are worse than Sf4 but so are everyone else's lol

my neighbor who is a casual gamer who loves AC says SFV looks like every other SF with all the characters with the same moves.. :( I was like they changed the characters up...*sigh*

I am disappointed on those sentiments...

Rashid is awesome fun to play...

Weird nitpick, but I wish the win quotes were better. They're pretty boring and lack personality, even though they're apparently all MU dependent.

Yeah I don't think people understand that this is a brand new game and not an update.

WTH just happened. My screen just decided to go completly black in round 2 of a game. Like the game went on - I was just not able to see anything until the match was over. Needless to say I lost because of that. That seems to be some pretty serious bug.
