WTH just happened. My screen just decided to go completly black in round 2 of a game. Like the game went on - I was just not able to see anything until the match was over. Needless to say I lost because of that. That seems to be some pretty serious bug.

Had a feeling the netcode was on some GGPO/Fightcade shit. lol
His pokes are worse than Sf4 but so are everyone else's lol
Everyone feels so stubby, making the buttons that aren't feel amazing

Sure it wasn't your tv?

My basic ass Karin has pulled off some wins. Just spacing and punishes/easy combos. Can't even think about anything remotely advanced right now. Haven't even explored V Trigger really since I get matches so fast.

Man I want to cancel st.MK with Karin again. =/ it's always so successful to poke and I can use the payout. lol

Note that you CAN cancel into her V-Trigger from it. So there is some (very damaging) cancel potential for it.

Otherwise, I find St.HP and MP to be enough for mixup-heavy gameplay. They might not be max-range awesome pokes, but they definitely get the job done (and Heavies are preferable for crush counters anywho.)

2 hours without a matchup now...

wtf is happening? Nobody else is having this problem.

restarted the game twice now. My ping to google DNS is 14ms.

I don't want to play training mode anymore T_T

I love using heavies, but I get in my Alpha3 mentalities when it comes to my rushdown with her. Once I hit the jump in to mk, I just wanna finesse lol.

Claw is so different from all his previous incarnations he is basically a new character that shares one special move with old Claw.

It has to be lag because it can't be possible that I get hit with every random poke people throw out there with every character every time I block and try to punish.. especially with mika player pressing buttons non stop then to see the characters warp and me in a grapple...

Necalli's command grab is probably the worst move in the beta.
No range, no damage, , no type of invincibility, horrible recovery and on top of that, 8 FRAMES OF STARTUP.
Absolute trash.

so it's not just me then.

I was pretty hyped for the character until I actually tried to use him in a match. Now I just want Bison back...

Go through the frame data. Trying to guess what's punishable and what's not off visuals alone is going to be an exercise in frustration.

Even with my laptop barely handling the PC Beta, I'm having funm mostly losing my matches because I had no training time to learn any of the characters so far. Ken seems okay to good. Karin is great, and I feel after I learn Mika, she will be amazing. Haven't tried Rashid yet.

Someone tell me why Karin's "mixup" followups aren't mostly garbola

They're good against people you've conditioned, but against mashy people, they lose to weak attacks and such all the time. You really have to know what they're doing, or have a good read on it, for them to work. They look like OP crazy when opponents have no idea how to defend, but horrible when they catch on. They'd be very bad if that's all she had, but thankfully she has solid, full combo enders that lead to damage and knockdown.

Yeah, I can understand that, haha. Thankfully, enough years of other fighters taught me "Cr.MK is the real cancel tool!" and that's pretty much how I think here, with a side of "Heavies are awesome too, though!"

I love her ender variety, though. I like that I have some things that I can risk the timing on, to try to get more V gauge or something, and others I can just reliably do the damage and such, and start thinking about the next play. If her ONLY tool was QCF+K, P after stuff for followups, I'd be annoyed that my best followup was tied to JUST attack timing ALL THE TIME, y'know?

Freaks me out still that she can get QCB+K off standing light kick, lol. I keep thinking it'd never have the hitstun.

Why do most Nicali's not pop vtrigger when they get it?

Is there an actual use to keeping it outside of V-reversal?

Oh yea I had same thing happen.

How does the stage get chosen? Is it the stage Player 1 selected?

Literally every match I've had in this beta has been on the waterfall.

Every single one.

They are trash and will be basically useless once people know them. But she will still be very strong because of her buttons.

Yeah that's the impression I get too.

Her mixups seem like they depend purely on conditioning and knowing your opponent since most of them aren't blockstrings at all.

Condition them for what? Seems like there's an optimal way to react just about every time.

Funny how much finding the utility of a single button can redeem a character. Necalli finally starting to click. I still think he's the most in need of work. His command grab needs more range. The startup is whatever to me, but the range could use a boost. Also I feel like his stomps should lead to more combos for some reason. And def more variation for his V-Trigger. Blue V-Trigger Necalli looks straight up dope though.

I love the normalization of pokes in this game. Curious how that will pan out with Sim. Definitely maining Sim or Bison at launch. If Akuma is launch DLC, I might get him. My short list of probable mains that I expect to be playable in the next year are Bison, Sim, Akuma, and Juri.

It locks out V-Reversals, but honestly they probably just forget.

People just forget.

The two really good uses for it are combo extension, or using the freeze frame to give you time to charge or input the super.

Playing as Mika not sure how to beat Ken spacing with Hadouken and Shoryuken, :(

Charged HK with the correct spacing and timing goes through fireballs and hits Ken. You can also jump over them and use down+mp to body splash to the ground to avoid always jumping into a DP.

Well at close range you can followup after M stomps, and you can followup H stomps with EX stomps, EX srk, or super. But i agree his command grab sucks currently.

F+HK(Hold) for the thunder kick. Releasing early gets you the step/thunder kick feint.

I set R. Mika to crouch guard everything and tried all of ken's moves, including thunderkick... and nothing went through... the only thing i could do to hit her was a throw. Not sure why, but I thought it should be an overhead, but it didn't work when I tried it (along with the inazuma kick too).

Crouch mp into mp, hp tc xx derpryuken

I assume you mean c.mp > b.mp > hp > srk?

I do rekka into backdash option to bait reversal. I keep doing it. Opponent notices this and decides to not do anything to not get baited. I now go for a crossup, overheard, etc.
Karin's options having glaring weakness and I think that they definitely won't be that strong in the future, but they'll still have their uses when it comes to making hard reads.

Also note her cr.MK will go under the fireball, and hit him, at poking ranges. You can even use it or slide to go under them at full screen, but this is somewhat trickier.

Pretty much this. This mix-up is more from knockdown than hopscotch.

During some rushdowns I would pressure using hopscotch from cr.LPs. Basic as fuck but it works. But I might start integrating V-Trigger activation after st.MK just for Guren, although even that doesn't feel as strong as it used to be.

Feels so good having the ken mirror match.. I condition the opposing ken player with C.lp into tick throw and then they wake up smash DP some habits from 4 don't die I guess..
