Of course the majority of players in the Beta are SF hardcore fans...
More casual players at launch so I wouldnt worry too much about this.

Oh I'm not worried, I know there's an abundance of experienced SF players (Only started this week myself) and matchmaking isn't working properly yet (I was rank 16,000 and got matched up 3 times with the same rank 700 Ryu who destroyed me with ease).

Urgh, I hate to ask but can I also get PC beta key if you have a spare? Would really like to see if the beta will run on my computer before purchasing.

Thanks either way!

Anyone know how to test hard knockdowns in training mode? The training options are not exactly intuitive. I thought I had it setup right, but the dummy quick rises every time.

Well, you do want the dummy to quick rise, because if they can do that it means the move you're doing does not cause hard knockdown.

The only thing you'll want to add is to set Counter to On, if you want to look at hard knockdowns caused by CC sweeps or something.

I understand that. Problem is, though, that everything I tried with Cammy resulted in a quick rise. EX, CA, throws, sweeps, etc. Quick rise every time. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

Virtually everything lets you QR in this game, its like SF3. Crush Counters and Supers are the big exceptions, its why CC properties were added to sweeps.

Even CH sweeps? CH sweeps and some CAs are the only thing that cause a hard knockdown in the game, currently.

Aren't hard knockdowns only after critical arts? Or did they change that? Not played current or last beta.

CAs don't result in hard knockdowns as a rule, no. Very few things in this game do. The only global one I know of are counter-hit sweeps, which are now all registered as Crush Counters.

I don't want to turn this thread into a key begging/giving thread, but I have two steam beta gifts in my inventory. Steam ID is the same as my GAF name if anyone wants one.

Can someone give me a quick explanation of crush counters?

from what i know its kinda like a fatal counter in anime games... a secondary counter hit state that is caused by certain heavy buttons and sends the opponent into a kind of reel with a ton of hitstun and time to confirm.

sure someone else got a better explanation.

Certain normals (typically heavy attacks, but not all of them) gain extra properties when they land as a counter hit beyond the couple extra frames of stun. Instead, you typically get a much longer stun animation than normal, which lets you combo things that you normally could not combo off of a normal hit with the same move.

For sweeps (crouching HK), they will always cause an untechable knockdown when they land as a counter hit. This is notable because pretty much nothing else in SF5 causes an untechable knockdown.

A fierce punch or kick that hits your opponent while they're in start up animation of a move... you get big flashy sparks, impossible to miss it. It depends on the character, but usually when hit by a crush counter you'll spin and be open for a free combo. Bison's HK is one of the best, you get a full focus attack style crumple on it.

Also now all sweeps can crush counter and will give you a hard knockdown.

Most DPs can be punished with a free crush counter, along with Cammy's spiral arrow and some other moves.

Cool, thanks guys. So basically it allows you to hit them with a heavy combo after they're stunned. Is this something that a lot of you are fishing for then?

They are great if you have a read on your opponent. Not necessarily something you want to poke with.
