Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion Trailer, will have 2nd art story at launch

Are you serious? You are worried about the download size and would rather the game be delayed? You can't just leave the download going over-night? You know there will be big patches and downloads for new characters and stuff anyways...

I own the Witcher 3 on PS4. I'm... well aware of how annoying downloads for patches can be. I'm also aware that Street Fighter V will inevitably go through numerous updates and patches that will take up space on my PS4 and time. I'm excited for the game. I really am. Don't get me wrong.

Who this is?

I hope they make her into a playable character, she seems cool.

Really going that Killer Instinct route huh Capcom.
It's a way better route than having people buy three versions of the game like they've been doing with Street Fighter. If this was Street Fighter IV they probably would have just saved it for Super Street Fighter IV and we'd have to be paying $40+ for it and a roster update.

I don't really play games anymore these days, but SF5 is seriously the hottest thing out there right now. This trailer really put my mind at ease, this is going to be totally worth the purchase.

The trailer playing out like your typical superhero movie just highlighted to me how fucking ridiculous every attempt at "story" has been for this series.

EXT: THE CITY. The sky is filling with some malignant, glowing orb, threatening to consume all it touches, bigger than the saucers from Independence Day

Which means the stretchy-limbed fire-spitting geriatric needs to fight the saucy girl wearing a thong over her pants...

...because the fate of the world depends on it.

CUT TO: A dance routine in a russian wrestling ring.

This shit happens in DC and Marvel every week. Do you have a good point to make?

Do you have a good point to make?

That it's fucking goofy and said goofiness makes me laugh?

Lower your dukes, Scrappy-Doo.

That's not fair, Sim didn't even appear in the trailer
for good reason

I'm gonna pick him up just for this game, actually. Never tried to really learn the man before. I feel like I should give him a fairer shot than I ever have, as some sort of old-fart solidarity gesture.

A Street Fighter story without huge amounts of cheese isn't a Street fighter story.

Seriously though not everything needs to be held to high story telling standards. Typical anime plot is all this needs.

Actually he does... the part where Necalli falls out of the sky there's an old guy with a mustache... almost looks like a military general or something- and Dhalsim steps in to fight Necalli. It all goes by very fast though... kind of like FANG in the intro video.

Yes, that's a non-sequitur.

We don't even need to be like "seriously though," though. Seriously.

Like, my post wasn't even criticism. I didn't ever, at any point, say it was bad. just that it was ridiculous. Of course it's fucking ridiculous. I'm enjoying it.

People just cannot WAIT to be like "hey, c'mon now. Lower your standards a little, guy"

Fitting tag for the "lore expert"

Earlier in this thread I did criticize Capcom for writing down to its community. I feel like Street Fighter is still written like we're all 12. If I could I'd mature it quite a bit.

I liked Best of the Best starring Eric Roberts. Thought that was a pretty good fighting game story.

People don't like to say so - but it's better than Bloodsport, even.

But you can't deny the Van Dammage, I guess. So Best of the Best is consigned to the darkened corners of the mind's old VHS Rental Store, and Bloodsport is like a dirty bomb from which delicious memes rain like fallout.

Some stories based on fighters are more mature than others. I'm a fan of Chubby Boy Films.

Assassin's Fist is also quality.

The Balrog story was the best Live Action street fighter thing ever made.

Nothing can come close to that.

That shit was top tier.

The gambling bit made me lose my shit.

Game should be delayed but they won't cause of Evo etc...

They better nail the netcode with as few issues as possible at launch. I see 8's across the board. Review thread is going to be fun.

Let them put out 8s as much as they want, the lack of story mode won't impact my enjoyment of crushing kens day 1.

Between this and the turtles threads you are increasing making it clear that you have no clue what you are talking about when it comes to fighting/action games.

Nobody who plays these type of games gives a fuck about reviews, outside opinions on dedicated fighting game websites.

Even then, Day one tech doesnt mean shit.

If the review thread is a shitshow it will be because of console warriors throwing mud at each other.

If you have played the betas, you pretty much know what your in for already. Outside of some balance tweaks, you can already form the opinion whether you will like this game or not.

I'm a fan of Billy Blanks' early tournament movies. I'm a fan of The Muscles from Brussels too, but I'm more partial to Kickboxer. I remember Best of the Best, but I was so young when I saw it. I need to see a trailer to help me remember it. I remember it as an action packed film.

Shoryushoryushoryushor K.O. -> Player Disconnected

Happened so many times during the beta. Who rage quits during a beta? Ken players. Only Ken players.

I don't know man. I worry about what some kotaku guy who's reviews I've never read and who I didn't even know existed prior to his review of SFV thinks of the game. His score may invalidate the actual hands on experience I've had with the game across 3 beta phases.

I agree, I mean the characters themselves are ridiculous so as long as there's some good tension and occasional humor it will be good. Just don't go in expecting any Joss Whedon or J.J. Abrams storytelling.

Yup. Ive played more SFV over the 3 beta tests (and multiple stress tests) than I played the retail release of SFIV in the first year. Hell, arguably more than I played third strike when it released too.

Im in day one and the game could get 3s across the board. Dont give a shit. Game is crack.

Bloodsport has hong kong, kowloon walled city, so it wins.
