Street Fighter V Cinematic Story Expansion Trailer, will have 2nd art story at launch

Only 3-5 hours? I buy Street Fighter games for dozens of hours of single-player versus AI. Once in a while I'll play local multiplayer with a friend or coworkers, but most of my play will be single player. I have one friend and one coworker who play similarly.

You can still do this Day 1. Heck, you'll be able to play Arcade Mode, Trials (I'm sure they'll add them, no way they won't), Vs mode against the CPU, Character story mode and probably a couple more things. Seriously, you're arguing about something you have no clue about.

I know a bunch of casual gamers who are looking forward to the story mode.

They are the ones whole buy AC, Uncharted, Madden and other games like that every year.

So yes there is a market for single player mode for SF. It might not be the hardcore gamers here, but there definitely is a place.

If game companies looked only at the hardcore then we would be seeing games like Prince of Persia Warrior Within every year. So yeah.

Nobody is threatened by anything but to say that the competitive scene doesn't matter and that it shouldn't be thought about because there are more casual players is fucking stupid.

We all love SF no such thing as a casual SF lover. You either love it or you don't. You either buy the games or you don't. We are all on the same damn team.

and why can't you do this still?

I never said that casuals didn't love SF but the fact that we got people butthurt about an expansion to the story mode that comes out 4 months later for free is fucking retarded.
It gets annoying that people can't realize that different games have different priorities.

Problem is the "casual" fans don't understand why it's actually a good thing for the game to be released next month while this story expansion is yet to be released. If they understood that point then I'm sure we would all be on the same page.

So now, something can't be an integral part of the game if it hasn't been in the entire series since the beginning? I guess online play isn't an integral part of the game then? Ultras, not integral? 3D polygonal art, not an integral part of the game, eh?

In this case, single player with storyline has been in the game since the first Street Fighter, just not at this level - it has slowly gotten better with each new game. But Capcom *has* been promising that SFV's story sequences would rival the competition's (MKXs.
have they stated this? I thought Capcom just said they would like to improve single player for this entry and are looking at good examples like MK. I have never Ono saying it would rival MK.

Come to think of it...yeah, Ono only said they were looking at the success, not specifically that it would equal it in that area

I wonder if those dudes who complain that the story isn't there would have been fine if SF5 would have released in june instead for everyone. Seriously everyone is winning there.

This is really the Guile I was hoping for.... there's always Tekken x Street Fighter I guess (Akuma looks at his absolute best in Tekken 7)

Yeah, they've NEVER said it would rival the competitions. You read that they noticed what MK was doing and how they would like to do story in SF, and you interpreted it that way.

Unless you have a link where they said it would rival the competition? In which case, I'd gladly admit I'm wrong.

In the modern market, I really don't think it matters too much if a continually updated game spaces out major content.

It is weird for SF, but you're basically buying a "Game pass" to get a lifetime of updates for that $60 Day-one price. Much cheaper than 60~40~30 over years.

Casual gamers aren't "Day One" people anyway. They're "Play the game once I see a big name do something interesting!" people, and they only care about exciting stuff within small intervals.

I really hope the story mode does well enough so that it'll be a yearly expansion type deal. That'd be a marked difference for most JP fighting games, and I'd care much, MUCH more about SF's story than MKs, any day. Even if it's dumb fun, at least it's still FUN, and could give us fun motions, lines, and sub-characters that'll be interesting for years to come.

I don't think SFV should be delayed. If we can wait for the full roster, we can surely wait for extra modes. I would rather the mode not exist if it has to be thrown together. Capcom should take all the time they want.

The only bad thing is people usually strike while the iron is hot and make a purchase while a game is fairly new. Capcom needs to make a marketing push early. The FGC should help sound the damn trumpets.

I think the casual group gets unfairly shit on.

The actual casual group are the peeps who will still buy the game day 1 but eventually drop off...not because they are scrubs persay but because they have moved on to other games. Those dudes still play online, some might actually not be flowchart kings. That group is large but just won't stay by the game as long as the diehards who could legit buy this and never play another game again..until the next one and be okay.

That is the actual "casual" base. The peeps who will only buy this game to play the story mode and thats it....is a lot smaller. I could see the story mode being a reason someone on the fence jumps in but it isn't this massive number of folks.

SFV is going to be big...because it is SF, will get advertised and is one of the biggest games for the next few months (as far as I know..haven't been up on the release schedule..as many games have snuck up on me lol). It was going to do fine even with the struggle story mode we all expected to be it. This is now extra and could potentially attract folks later and keep some of the real casual crowd entertained and hopefully make them apart of the hardcore.

not seeing what the issue is here.

Evo will give it exposure.

I don't understand the complaining. You are not loosing anything. You are getting all the modes sf4 released with. This is extra.

At the end of the day all I know is I'll be there day 1 and the game will do very well. I don't really give a shit where the next person decides to spend their money. If you like it buy it if not move to the next game there are plenty there.

Agreed. I don't mind if they delay the release of the mode if they can polish it more and do more quality control and localization. These butthurt people are going to have to get over it.

I seriously can't wait until February 16.

Me too, that anticipation and excitement when we're less than a month away from a huge fighting game release is pretty much too much hype to handle. Luckily there's Gravity Rush Remastered to tide me over for a couple weeks and then once SF V drops I'll be playing the game nonstop.

Casuals saying the game should be delayed, because the roster is small and to accomadate cinematic scenes.

Am I considered casual because I'm worried the download size for this story thing will be huge? I just want it on the disk as day one, man... I'll prefer a delay with the story on the disk than a huge download for the story in a few months.

one thing that sucks about not having the real story mode day 1 is that reviewers generally have the dumbest possible methods for reviewing fighting games. Played through arcade mode once, boss was cheap and story was thin. 8.5/10

Okay I'm fine with admitting I was WRONG.

Hair is a bit more flared on top... larger forehead, slightly more pointed nose, different ear shape.

Still think his classic costume will be an alt and his default will be something new... but apparently I'm just a big dummy.
I would really like to know if they take the existing SFIV models and tweak it to make a SFV models or start from scratch.

And if they take SFIV models, who was used for each character's base. Like, was Blanka used to make Necalli or Ibuki used to start R. Mika, ect..?

Well they could launch it with on the disc like SFxT DLC... then I'm going to datamine it... and then there's another SFxT backlash... nobody wants that to happen.

People who really play fighting games don't care what reviewers have to say, and casuals who ONLY go by what reviewers say are no big loss to the community. If the game is good and popular among the hardcore, word of mouth will get the job done.

You're right, though, that games like this highlight certain failings of the review process.

Maybe not casual, but definitely selfish. It's absurd to want the whole thing later when you could have some of it now. The download shouldn't be particularly large. I doubt they're going to create a ton of new high quality assets for the cutscenes. If it uses mostly existing assets, it could be very small.

I think they just start from scratch. Making the 3D model is probably the easiest part of making a fighting game character.

It should get reviews like SF4

We need to abandon this term(casual) it causes too much dissension in our community. We all love SF. You have every right to express your concerns about the game. We respect all the fans, newer fans are the lifeblood of Street Fighter. About your concerns, I'm sure Capcom will release a complete edition at some point in the future.

Are you serious? You are worried about the download size and would rather the game be delayed? You can't just leave the download going over-night? You know there will be big patches and downloads for new characters and stuff anyways...

Capcom's next fighting game needs a beat 'em up story mode with the same models as in the game. I've been saying that for years, would be so cool if it was really well done.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Man, I really want to know what the 6 characters are going to look like. Based on silhouettes, everyone will have a new outfit.

They start from scratch. All new models. If that was the case, we'd have more than just 16 characters in the roster.
