i have a few questions here, hopefully you guys can helps me out.

1) what is the ds4 like for this game

2) sticks are expensive. I can get an old ps3 TE for about £70 should off ebay. Why would i buy one of the newer sticks?

3) not that this is important to me but when is the review embargo up?

I played the DS4 on Xrd for the first couple of days and watched my thumb turn into ground beef. I would recommend using something else.

If you bought an old stick you would be missing a touch pad. The touch pad allows you to instantly revert to saved set ups in practice mode although whether or not you care and how useful it is for other things in this game and others makes it a nice thing to have.

I don't recall the exact time but a few hours ago it was up in a few hours do I'm expecting it anytime now.

If Season Pass includes all colors, they have my money.

Also good to know that the servers will officially open in about 8 hours. Fight money, Fighter ID, and colors/titles unlocked should be permanent after that.

Not sure if already known, but It seems as if you have to clear survival mode for each individual costume on a character to get the colour unlocks. Cleared it using Chun Li with the pre-order costume and it unlocked the colours for that costume, but not the basic. If this is how it is meant to be, people might be spending a loooonnngg time in survival unlocking colours.

Good to know. I wasn't planning on touching survival until I heard about the alt colors thing. Now it looks like I'll be spending a decent amount of time in it every time I'm interested in getting more serious with a character.

Wow...this OT! One of the best I have ever seen on GAF. Amazing job.

I'm on the fence with that fight pad. It looks ugly as shit, but maybe it'll feel right in my hands.

If you take the plunge on one, grab some lilacs and champagne, spend some time with the pad, and report back what you think about it. The price tag is steep compared to the competition and the critics have been vocal thus far, but we need more opinions out in the wild.

maybe this has already been covered, but does anyone know what i'm missing out on by having a stick without a touchpad? (the newer sticks have them right?)
i padhacked my ps3 TE stick, cuz i didn't wanna buy a new ps4 stick
Just some training mode extra features.

After watching that 2nd tutorial video about the meters, my head is spinning... this game sounds overly complicated. Yet I must ask myself if it is really any more complicated than most other modern fighters out there... getting into the deep mechanics of a fighting game was never interesting to me... I just enjoy playing them for a while.

Meter management is not something a rookie should bother working on in the beggining.
I posted it in the other thread but really if you're new to SF all you need is this video and you're set to go:

(It's ultra but still applies in SFV)

Great OP - but only has prices in dollars - is the game only released in the US??

(yes I'm being facetious)

Have fun with this PS4 people - I will miss not playing Street Fighter in this generation :)

Does that mean you get more FM from completing the survival with different costumes?

Anyone know if flag choice affect matchmaking? I like the sfv flag but in the last beta it was matching me with a bunch of different countries instead of USA.

I will hold on physical till a "super" edition is anounced. This game will evolve so much with dlc and updates that the disk on sale tomorrow will become obsolete in a year...

There will only be one disc needed for the life of the game. Any such Super/Ultra game updates will be free.

If there isn't anything about this in the OP, there should be, and it should be highly visible so we don't keep getting posts like these.

Should do some research on this game.

Well, to be fair it isn't in the OP (unless I somehow missed it).

I'm guessing if you don't have an internet connection worth playing videogames on that this game wouldn't be worth it right now?

It's probably super-bad form to try playing online if you live so far from other people and know your connection is inconsistent. Would that be the consensus? I suppose I'll wait for story mode, a sale, a better connection and just see what the reaction is. I've never been a Street Fighter fan but this one appeals to me and the enthusiasm of the fans is infectious.

(I'm way out in the Caribbean on a 1Mb/s connection that spikes and drops all the time.)

You should probably be fine if you're playing people from your region, just make sure to have your console/PC wired. Filter your connections to 5 stars only and you're probably good to go.

Nothing can save you from the drops, but as long as your internet is working properly, you shouldn't have too many issues. I play SF IV with a friend who has a 1Mb/s connection and it's great. He lives somewhat close to me (~2 hour drive), so that's the most important factor.

haha oh I will be for sure!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying it so I'll be reporting back with some detailed impressions.

Regarding the Fighting Commander 4 vs the Fighting Commander, I noticed that the latter doesn't include the dpad sensitivity adjustment screw on the back that the former does. The 'L' setting is a lot better than the standard one IMO, so I'm wondering how the FC's dpad stacks up. Standard setting is a bit stiff with diagonals (whereas the 'S' setting pretty much kills them altogether) but the 'L' setting plays like butter.

I want to use Fight Money to change the main menu theme to Indestructible.

I'm really hoping for alt soundtracks and HUDs to be made available for purchase with fight money/zenny. Alt announcers would be awesome too.

Mechanics wise it's pretty sparse. If that makes your head spin watch a tutorial video for Guilty Gear or BlazBlue and you'll get a brain aneurysm.

In all seriousness it's pretty straightforward. You have one meter for doing your critical art and powering up special moves (EX) and another for V-Trigger and V-Counter. V gauge restarts each round, the other doesn't.

Oh look this bullshit again. Its been confirmed that this is the only disk you will need .

What bullshit? Im getting the game anyway on day 1. What i'm saying is that the content on the disk tomorrow will be very diferent from the game 12 months from now, since it will have continues update status. Dlc, uptades, balacing etc...
So to me makes more sense to simply getting digital this time around, since thats the game future anyway.

I only skimmed the OP (don't ban me!), but I would agree with this for sure.

Yes.

All of this is true, but that won't make the disc obsolete since you can just download those updates and balancing patches.

Read it in context of the other posts. He wants a physical version with the first year's worth of upgrades and content.

There are countries other than the US?

This is a good reason they won't bother with another version of the physical release in the future. It wasn't even to their advantage before with the later versions of SF4.

Not sure if it's been posted here yet, but Wbacon posted an update on the Steam forums... midnight launch is a go!

I GOT A QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO ARE GETTING THE PHYSICAL DISK LIKE ME TOMORROW...

When we get the game.. is it better to just wait for the 23GB to install then play the game OR is it okay to play the game while the 23GB is installing???

This is a good reason they won't bother with another version of the physical release in the future. It wasn't even to their advantage before with the later versions of SF4.

They probably will redo the disc releases, they can get more money for it and it gets it back in retail sales channels with a new release with added value.

Looks like I'm pulling an all-nighter. Good thing I have tomorrow off work.

Just turned on SFV this morning and this message popped up.

Let the grind commence tonight!

Wait so, im pre-loading now. Am I able to open the game and get into training mode and stuff before the game is officially out? Or are you using a physical copy?
