Why would you swap to your PS4 just to play online, but practice on PC? Is there something lacking in the PC version as to why you would play online on console vs PC?

Not being accusatory or judgmental. Just wondering what I am missing out on by playing on my PC.

Basically just having a nice friday night in the sofa, playing on the larger television.

Anyway, I can't seem to find anything about Critical Art in the OP. How are those done? The buttons/execution is different for each character right? And I just need to look it up in the move list?

I'm assuming CFN's are separate because if someone paid actual money on say PSN for the season pass to get those characters Steam probably doesn't want to give them to you for free on their platform and vice versa? I think the integration of stuff being purchasable with both in-game money and actual money screwed the pooch in that regard.

cons: dependancy on being online

would you also give Call of Duty that con? legit curious

Some others have popped up too:

Neither seemed to give scores

EventHubs - http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/feb/15/street-fighter-5-review/

Street Fighter 5 provides fun, frantic, fighting action for players of all skill levels. V-moves give newcomers an easy way to perform strong attacks, while leaving much room for exploration from hardcore fans.

The game feels fairly limited in single player features at the moment, but we will be seeing much more content next month and in the future, all of which will come free of charge.

Street Fighter 5 is a strong successor to Ultra Street Fighter 4 and one that is a very welcome addition to the franchise.

Press Start Australia - http://press-start.com.au/2016/02/16/street-fighter-v-review/

Street Fighter V is one of the hardest things that I’ve ever had to definitively give a grade to. Which is why, at this point, I’m not going to. Sony’s very own Splatoon – Street Fighter V establishes a very solid ground on which greatness can be built. The gameplay mechanics and the core combat is top notch – it’s accessible by newcomers more than ever before and at the same time has the depth that makes it so tournament friendly with higher level players. But there’s clearly stuff missing that probably could have been here.

It’s true that some Street Fighter fans probably think that nobody cares about single player content or even assistive modes like trials and challenges, and the debate about their worth is easily outside of the scope of this review in progress. But their absence is especially felt here especially when compared to its contemporaries. Street Fighter V is an astoundingly solid fighter, but it’s hard to definitively judge it until it’s expanded to what it should have been at launch. Props to Capcom for releasing early for the tourney crowds, however, it’s a bold move that’ll be interesting to see play out in the coming weeks.

Playstation Universe - http://www.psu.com/preview/29402/Street-Fighter-V-PS4-Review-in-Progress

A good move in the current climate as Capcom should support one Street Fighter consistently for the foreseeable future, looking to make it better and better with each update. The downside with this model is that the base game feels a little light right now, but with much of the updates coming being free, it’s a little easier to stomach. A lot now depends on how good the online component is out in the wild, but so far, Street Fighter could well be back on form.

This video in the OP explains Critical Arts and other meter related skills:

Check out the video list in the OP. It has some good information. They are about 5 mins each so super quick!

And I understand about the couch. The problem with my awesome large TV is that TVs have typically 25ms+ input lag. It is noticeable on FPS games especially, and I assume fighting games (I'm new to them) since they are so sensitive. Playing on a PC monitor with reduced input lag is def noticeable for me.

I actually play Destiny on a monitor as well instead of my TV for this reason.

Yeah, I should go through that list tonight. I honestly can't see or feel a difference with the input lag, but I do understand it is there. :)

Here's mine. Hopefully it'll make it to the reviews thread because in going to go sleep again: EGM -8.0/10

I C what you did there with the title :)

I don't know if someone covered this already, but how do I get hold of the Cammy costume on PC? Fight money only?

The Cammy pre-order costume is a "premium" costume, so they'll probably release it for real money later on.

Her Story mode alt costume, though, can be earned with fight money in game.

gotta say, the only thing I really, really dislike about the game is what they did to the character portraits, overlaying red and blue over them. not a fan.

Would anyone help me get in on that day 1 hype by making me an avatar of the image below of Ken?

Okay! But what if I wanna do Training Mode while its downloading? Do you still suggest that I wait for the 23GB to download instead of touching it?

If it lets you play then play. What could possibly be the downside of at least trying out training mode? Why are you worried about this?

here ya go!

jk this isn't the right size for an avatar

I see, thanks.
Disappointed I'm being denied my favorite of the pre-order costumes. I don't like the Chun-Li version at all. Far from a deal-breaker though.

its one of those games that the only people that care about reviews are people that wouldnt be playing it in 2-4 weeks anyway. And I mean no offense by that

This is astute. Besides, the traditional review format doesn't really mesh with fighting games. It's all about the core gameplay/systems (and now online) and not about the typical fluff found in other genres.

Any word on if the final release of the PS4 version got rid of the dithered shadows/black lines on the character models, and if they ever updated background animations above 30fps?

Just from fooling around in training I like Gief and Laura the best I think. I'll probably stick with those, but final decision will probably be made after I gone through all the character stories.

Anyone know if this will run on a GTX 470? I know a 480 is listed as the minimum but they are pretty close so I'm wondering if I can skate by.

Serious question: is this some kind of article mill? Typos, redundant/odd filler lines, a rambling pace with awkward transitions that flows poorly and feels like a stream-of-consciousness first draft. Doesn't seem like you have an editor.

Not that I have an issue with the score or the points made, but it reads like something that'd get put out to fill up a 1000 word quota. And yes, I did a word count.

Apparently some backgrounds have 60fps animations. The daytime Kanzuki Estate and the Metro City one. Not a universal change for all stages tho.

I ran the beta on 560ti 448 but I had to turn almost everything down to the lowest setting. Didn't look good.

Have since upgraded to a 970 so I'm excited to see what my performance will be.

So if the amount of fight money you earn per fight is right in the Gamespot review it would take a long ass time to get one character for free. You'd basically have to win 2000 matches for a single one. That is assuming the 100k Fight Money per character is correct.

First review out of the gate and already a mention of how it looks similar to SFIV, and plays like an evolved SFIV.

I got wrecked a few times here for even mentioning that.

I have no idea how you support "plays like an evolved SFIV" unless you're reducing it down to a level of "yep, has fireballs, there's ryu, it's street fighter."

no fadc combos, no starting with lights, generally no long combos, no ultras, no invincible backdashes, etc. at a technical level it's a different game.

Preloaded and ready. There's an event in Boston tomorrow which I bet will be like a giant scrub league. Should be a fun time. Between that and Magfest on thursday, should be a whole lot of street fightin' goin' on.

I saw some spreadsheet where someone calculated based on estimated values and found that you'd have to win 12 matches every single day for 3 months in addition to doing 'daily challenges' and completing all single player content in order to earn enough Fight Money to unlock all characters.

Hopefully we'll get some more concrete numbers soon.

Those level ups will slow down after a while though. We will see how much the daily challenges will award you. Will those actually be in once the game goes live or are they part of the March update as well?

Probably because it's only right if you play these games on a surface level in that Ryu is still throwing fireballs and Chun Li still does SBKs.

If you put in any amount of time, you see and notice the differences.

And this is pretty much representative of said wrecking, which does not address the actual observation of it's roots in SFIV.

If you're in an Offline Mode while connected to the Servers and get D/C'd, you're kicked back to the Main Menu, so you have to start all over again with whatever you were doing.

I thought somebody said you would be able to earn 400.000 FM just by completing everybody's story and survival on all difficulties?
