- Only one stage (Bustling Side Street) seems to ended up having transitions and interactables despite most stages seemingly having modelled sections on their sides (that in some cases are even shown in a character's art as it we should be able to access it - like Nash and the cave on the right of the Forgotten Waterfall, or Birdie and the subway section of the London stage), which not only seems very inconsistent in terms of stage design but also is somewhat misleading to customers when these were one of the things Capcom chose to highlight upon first unveiling the game;

Wow. Come on, now. This is some bullshit. I can understand a lot of other things coming down the pike in the form of updates, but this was shown off from DAY 1 and they couldn't implement it into other stages? That's some scrub-level bullshit on Capcom's part, IMO.

...And yet barely anyone so far has mentioned it except us few...sigh...

Edit: Giant Bomb's review by Jason is up. No score yet as they are waiting for the servers to go up, but overall he seems very pleased with the game's mechanics and characters (but less so with the uneven presentation in places and the lack of single player features even though he himself is less occupied with those).

So I put in my code for my Ryu costume and hit enter another code and put in the game code to get it downloading. But now I can't find where to start my hot Ryu costume to download, and whenever I put the code in it just says "code already redeemed". Can anyone help me out? (PS4). I always have troubke with this. Is there just a history of redeemed stuff or something?

Not sure if this is the case here but I think all the DLC costumes are on disc already so in the past when I've redeemed codes for on disc dlc nothing is downloaded and it just unlocks it for you to use when you're in the game.

Do you think it's fair for companies to charge $60 for a glaringly incomplete game? We aren't talking about just waiting on spectator mode or something, we are talking about multiple standard modes being omitted. And they are charging $30 for a season pass on top. Now, granted, that covers the DLC characters that you can earn in-games, but they specifcally said that majority of Fight Money is earned via the SP content - which is noticeably lacking.

GTA V launched with no online... still had record breaking sales and rave reviews. The game is still going to be $60 next month with a lot of the missing stuff is added.... it's not like anyone is forcing you to buy the game day 1 if you don't want to.

I won't be able to get the game until tomorrow evening. My question to you guys is: how does everyone play? I mean, I know Zangief is a grappler and Ryu is a regular shoto but it also seems like they changed a couple of characters significantly and then there are the new comers.

Pretty tough to go into those details, even if we knew every character.

Consistent pressure and grounded footsies seems to apply for mostly everyone though

That's hardly a priority, don't you think? TBH they could've cut the transitions from the China stage just to be consistent/all-or-nothing approach.

Agreed. Just because she's busty doesn't mean that's all guys like about her. That line of ignorance is just as bad as the people who do only care about breasts.

All of those things make for an interesting character, but Capcom did the character a disservice with the design, imo. It cheapens the character to go for the angle they did on top of all of that. Dial the design back a bit to something less gratuitous and the other points would hold more weight. Same for Mika.

Great OT! Thanks for the hard work.

I'll just repeat some of my concerns from the other threads here, if only because not many others seem to mention them (or care about them?) even though they have greatly dampened my personal excitement for the game these past days.

Please keep in mind that I'm not stating that the game should have been delayed for any of these features as I do understand the importance of getting the game out in time for the Capcom Pro Tour and hungry competitive players. I'm simply stating that I'd like to see these features be added (to the roadmap) in the future since the current lack of them makes the game feel inconsistent and even cheap in terms of its artistic design and presentation.

I will also applaud anyone who comments on my post without falling back on argumentative fallacies like "I don't care about single player stuff / intro cinematics / stages, so who else in their right mind could be asking for them?" - even if I never played online, I still would be bummed out for other SF fans that do prefer this if the game ended up with lacking online features.

My issues:
- The game currently has no real title screen or attract mode (it jumps to the main menu and stays there, which to me feels odd);
- The CGI opening cinematic shown a few weeks ago is not shown in the game anywhere (only a very short, compressed version of it the first time you boot up the game) despite past SF games having this;
- Only one stage (Bustling Side Street) seems to ended up having transitions and interactables despite most stages seemingly having modelled sections on their sides (that in some cases are even shown in a character's art as it we should be able to access it - like Nash and the cave on the right of the Forgotten Waterfall, or Birdie and the subway section of the London stage), which not only seems very inconsistent in terms of stage design but also is somewhat misleading to customers when these were one of the things Capcom chose to highlight upon first unveiling the game;
- The Versus mode is wholly undercooked as it does not allow you to pick a CPU opponent or choose CPU for both players to see the CPU battle itself (a feature I always enjoyed - yes, really);
- Since there is no Arcade mode, there also is no real boss in the game (yet, as this might be coming with the MK style story mode) nor any post game win screens or dialogues between characters;
- Not all characters have a stage that corresponds with their official art, which again is inconsistent (but hopefully these will come later as stage DLC has been mentioned).
- Since Fight Money is (understandably) tied to Capcom's servers, I can't help but foresee cases of people losing their FM due to server issues and this will frustrate me greatly;
- While there are some alternative versions of stages featured in the story mode (like a night version of the Forgotten Waterfall), currently there is no way to select these manually anywhere despite the stage select screen showing time of day and weather info for each stage (I have some hope that this will come later as well).

While people are correct that Capcom will be adding much stuff down the line, currently neither their roadmap or interviews mention specifically whether they'll add things like an Arcade mode, Versus CPU mode, stage interactions for other stages, an (skippable) opening cinematic, etc. As such, it remains unclear if SFV will ever have some of the things that a fan like me appreciates even more than solid online competition and training modes: a memorable and polished overall presentation and a plethora of offline modes, i.e. things that most past SF games did have in spades.

All that said, I am still hyped enough to keep a close eye on how the game will be developing these coming months and I'll definitely play it a bunch as soon as my FM will stop to disappear (i.e. when the launch is official).

-Title screens have no use, we dont put coins to start games anymore
-Cinematic intro just gets in the way of the game. Yes, I can delete the video file to prevent it, but I just want to play the game not smash a key to get past their introduction.
-Stage corresponding with characters isn't really that important as all the stages are in Street fighter are backgrounds.
-If Fight Money was client based then anyone can easily increase their Fight Money to buy every character. Capcom won't make money that way.

Considering all of the content that already had to be put off for future updates, I would've thought that at least this one nice little touch that has been present since the first time the game was ever shown to the public could've at least been implemented in time for launch. I know game development is hard these days and am willing to support this new model of supporting games as they grow, but this really irks me.

I just hope that they eventually add them in. If they don't, it will be such a waste of potential.

Nah, they hold weight just fine.

Can i start unlocking again now or are they just gonna wipe my progress again?

Have they made any statements about this?

I dont even care that they are doing it i just wanna know when its gonna stop

The final server reset is in 3 and a half hours.

Why should they dial back the character ?
I can understand less sexy outfits or camera angles .
But T&A of all sizes should be welcome and should not take away from the character .

regardless of your drive by opinion bullet points, these were standard with previous games (and in some cases EVERY previous game except for custom intros), as well as most other competing games.

there is no need to make excuses for what was obviously content cut to get the game out of the door faster. Cut the CG intro and lolstory mode entirely then and focus on multi-player lobbies at launch since that should be the overwhelmingly most important thing.

Hmmm. Thanks for this. Definitely haven't heard any reviews talk about any of it. Loss of stage transitions is a bit of a bummer.Between these, the frame rate issues, PS3 controller lag, and delayed single player, I'm almost tempted to hold off on this until summer.

I don't see my Chun-Li costume on the store list either, but I saw in on my "services" active list when navigating my PS3 menus.

Where is that at?

Not sure if this is the case here but I think all the DLC costumes are on disc already so in the past when I've redeemed codes for on disc dlc nothing is downloaded and it just unlocks it for you to use when you're in the game.

Hope this is the case.

Yes, you will only need to connect to another location via VPN for the acitivation process.

Apart from your fourth point, which I agree with, the other three are pretty much "I don't see the use in them so why would you want them back" style arguments, i.e. the type I specifically mentioned I could do without. But ok, I'll bite anyway:

- Title screens are still pretty much present in all games, fighting / arcade games or not, so why would this game need to set a new trend? Moreover, I just like them as they make the game feel more official and welcoming for lack of a better term.
- A cinematic intro, if instantly skippable or better yet, viewable in the options after the first time, would not bother anyone but would bring entertainment to those that do care for them. All past SF games had them to help draw you in and get hyped, and they even already spent development time on such a movie for V, so why not simply put it in the game somewhere for people that do care?
- Stages are of vital importance to someone who cares about the world the game is set in and they can also help to flesh out the characters when a character "belongs" in a stage (even a shared one, like in 3rd Strike). To do that for some characters, especially some of the newcomers, but not all of them is simply being inconsistent. Moreover, if stages are just "backgrounds", characters can be said to be hitboxes with aesthetics and personalities wrapped over them. To me, both stages and characters are what gives a fighting game its soul (apart from its overall presentation).

If you're just looking for something specifically for SFV (i.e. something where input lag is a primary concern) I highly recommend the Asus MX279H. 27 inches, IPS display, lowest input lag on the market. Not that expensive either, ~$240 USD on Amazon.
Fantastic info, tyvm.

Buying this to play with housemates, is there a training mode or any good videos to watch before it unlocks tonight? Know almost nothing about fighting games.

Why couldn't they do the server reset right when it launches? People are still gonna get a head start now.

Because it launches at different times tomorrow depending on location and PSN/Steam/Physical purchases. Therefore it needs to be reset before the very first one of those.

Is an arcade mode going to be added as that's were I spent most of my SF action from the days of SF2 onwards?

We don't know as of yet, but maybe if we keep bringing it up they might pick up on it since they are collecting feedback it seems.

I have a feeling they'll try to avoid using that term though because of the game for the first time not being released in arcades, unless they'll choose it for nostalgic purposes. A more flexible and robust Versus mode where you can set a series of random CPU opponents + no. of rounds might be an easier solution for them.

I agree with you that it's weird to see it not be there though - I also spent a lot of time in them in past SF games.

This is incorrect. That monitor is 5ms, there are many 1ms monitors out there

So, it seems like this game really should have launched in a month. Hopefully Capcom get the game feeling more complete sooner rather than later. It is frustrating that so much of the little stuff will not be in the game (at least at launch). I really hope Capcom is just jacking this game full of content; more than their content map has indicated. Thankfully the part that most of us play Street Fighter games for is really good.

On a side note... I am happy it is launching today as I don't know if I could have possibly lasted another month.
