Still haven't had a single online match (last try was 5 hours ago).

About regions and DLC:

I bought SFV with my US PSN account, and I also use another, european account. I noticed the Chun Li pre-order costume is only available in my US account, not on the european one.

If I buy the season pass with the US account, will my european account have access to its contents? Anyone know?

Thx

Finally got to play today after setting aside some time. Beat all of the story content and got about 600LP online before calling it for the day.

The game is good but I feel like something is really missing. I'm sticking to ryu / birdie right now, so maybe that's why, but I feel like the game feels a bit barebones.

I can't find a way to incorporate Ryu's VTRIGGER at all other than making people jump because they think I'm going to fire a hadouken. In training mode it's theoretically good because you can super off a fully charged hadouken being blocked, but the charged hadoukens are not very practical in real match situations. Right now, it's no where near as cool as Denjin Ryu in 3rd strike. I wish the hadouken would guard crush regardless of charge time, that would actually make it interesting. Ryu is a bit disappointing but I'll continue to use him for ranked while I still figure out some basic match up information. I feel like ryu has all the tools needed to win a match and has very little chance to be low tier, so he is a good place to really start finding each characters' Achilles heel.

Birdie is perhaps a bit more fun atm, but he is also pretty dead simple to play. His CA still does huge damage and has a bunch of ways to land it. VSkill is perhaps the most fun vskill in the game. All in all, good character but I feel like he lacks some fun combos or something. He lacks reliable wake up options sometimes, at least until he has meter. If you play against a birdie, I think it's good to keep that in mind.

Mika I played in the last beta (which was my first time playing sf5 outside of pax) and while she is a good character, I find her V skill annoyingly clunky and her damage is just not high enough. Frankly, Birdie has nearly the same number of tools but has more health and higher damage output. Having said that, I found some really cheesy set ups into her grab that can be super ambiguous. I feel about her the same way I felt about El Fuerte in SF4 -- she's a seemingly weak character who has some mixup gimmicks that may or may not make her really tough to deal with. Thankfully, though, you can actually try to play R Mika without relying entirely on mix ups and glitchy feeling combos, so that's good.

I guess I feel a bit weird about this game. When SF4 came out, I definitely remember feeling way more excited. I remember getting trounced in the imported arcade versions of the game but still being really excited. SFV moved in the right direction for some things, but feels like maybe it's trying a bit too hard to feel "esports" and "balanced" to the point where characters basically only have just enough tools to make them not terrible. I think that makes the characters feel really shallow.

It's definitely too early to tell for sure, but Im just not sure what to make of the game yet. I can't say I really feel like rushing back to play morr, at least not any more than any other SF game.

Hitting v trigger after a hit or succession of hits allows you to link into combos you wouldn't normally be allowed to. Look up some higher level play to see it put to good use. It feels more bare because combos are shorter at the outset. It's got some good depth of you work for it tho.

Thanks! I've never been a fan of using joy2key but im even less of a fan of buying new pads so i'll give it a go

the video tutorial is for x360ce not joy2key, everyone kept saying it was better so I went with it. Very easy to install and it worked so /shrug

Any up to date Laura combos and tech vids? pretty sure my luck is going to run out very soon if I keep using her like I do.

Just a word of warning: x360ce does not work if you also have a Steam Controller. I used to use x360ce, but now I have to live with joy2key (*sad trombone*).

Speaking of joy2key, does anyone know what the keyboard buttons for LS and RS are? Those are the buttons used for various shortcuts in training mode, but I haven't been able to find the keyboard equivalents.

Day 2. Let's see how the matchmaking works. Got a ranked just now not even 10 seconds into it.

Hope?

I think they patched it server side. Haven't got booted all day.

0-10 with sim holy shit i am bad. Don't want to go the shoto route

Just keep putting in work and looking at why you lost. I play three matches in the morning and think about what I did wrong and right. I'm garbage but I'm already improving!

I despise her ever since some goodass player using her stopped my ranked streak.
He did back mp (or was it cr. mp?) xx forward+vskill to stop all my jumpins. the b+mp stuffed the jump in and the vskill landed her to the other side and he kept mixing me up.

Getting into ranked games very fast now one after the next. There's some seriously erratic Cammy players out there. Constant Spiral Arrows and Cannon Spikes mixed with thousands of erratic jumps and light punches. They're fun to beat up

So, how many buttons are needed for SFV on the PC?

I assume that its PPP and KKK and then the last two buttons are just combinations, right? The saturn pad has 6 front facing buttons + 2 triggers and just one start buttons so im just making sure that i wont need another pad around just to navigate menus or something like that

So whats up with not being able to find certain fighter ids? Even the hack-around where you search for the person they played against and adding them from the match history is not working.

Did capcpom say anything?

Yeesh, that's rough lol

You just need 6 face buttons and a start button.

I cannot wait to get my fighting commander.

I've only just realized that L1 and L2 are dedicated to all punch and all kick buttons.

Ex moves would be so easy to perform having those buttons available to my right hand. Finally managed to get a solid target combo, cancel into super, cancel into EX with Ryu for a 10 hit 400+ combo.

Only got a week till it gets here. It makes so much sense now!

My Ryu will be the greatest. I want to git gud. I will git gud.

I will become Ryu.

It was good last night afterthought took the servers down for maintenance for a couple hours. Hopefully they've got the matchmaking sorted and get the battle lounge fixed next.

Per the official FAQ:
Low Punch = G
Med. Punch = H
High Punch = J
All punches = K
Low Kick = B
Med. Kick = N
High Kick = M
All kicks = ,
Pause Menu = ENTER

Directional controls can be done on both WASD and arrow keys

So you can get away with 6 buttons, the directions, and a start button.

Laaaawd. My ken is ass. :P

I have no clue how to open Bison up. His strings and frame traps are so good... that's why I mained him in all the betas. Nash fucks my shit up all day too.

Dhalsim is arguably one of the hardest characters to get into. Very low dexterity requirements, but needs better understanding of characters and system mechanics to really make him shine, never mind him being a fairly unique archetype as it is in Street Fighter. Add to that: even as a Dhalsim main, it still took a while to adapt to his tweaked style and as a result, I also initially ate many losses during the beta phases.

He clicked with me by now though and he's very satisfying to play once you grasp what he's all about. Just give it time.

Spent time in Training with my Charlie Nash, and I feel I have a good grasp of the fundamentals. I can do small combos, all his Sonic moves, CA, EX moves and such.

And then I go on to be stressed under battle, and losing 2 casual fights. But that's okay. I'm doing better than in the beta, and I still feel I have a grasp around his moves.

Right now, I seem to have a hard time timing his V-Skill as I get hit by fireballs, but I'm gonna train that part in training and further casual matches.

Didn't get to play as much as I wanted this weekend. (Early access mom and pop shops)
Finally went out last night to actually play people at a SF5 event in NYC. Man, I suck. Was good watching better players go at it and being able to ask questions. Def going to try to get a lot better with this one. Love the game

He has some good gimmicks to learn early on that can net you some quick wins.

LK slide into throw or jab, rinse repeat. The teleport combo is a good one to get down too.

If they can't block cross ups the teleport one is essential. Once you rank up and fight killers neither of these are good until done at the right space and time, but yeah like you said he's a very unique bird even for SF .

Too many people disconnect to not lose points, capcom better put a penalty once servers stabilize.

Yeah, I had several people do this to me, and this is at the lowest ranks. If there's no penalty when you get higher, it's going to be a pain in the ass.

Just got the guide. I think it's really, really good. Going to activate my digital copy to have that on the go.

Sim has always been one of the hardest characters to learn in every SF he's been in. Definitely stick with him if you're enjoying playing as him, just be aware it's going to be a tough hill to climb. But once you do, most players have a hell of a time countering a good Sim.

I've got the pad, and believe me, L1 and L2 on the right side of the pad is godsend. Better, you can make L1 (PPP) + any kick to do throws, V-skill and V-trigger, I found it more precise to do it with my index + thumb rather than just the thumb on the 2 face buttons.

This sounds terrible.

If anyone wanna try add me, try search for Carbonara and then look at his recent played players, and look for -ZACK-

Did anyone find me?

I'm super intrigued by Karin so far. I dislike her personality but I really like her fighting style and would love to learn her. She isn't necessarily the easiest character to get into but she is one of the most interesting.

Oh and damn, that story mode is crazy short. I played through several characters and they were over in three or four fights.
