It should be illegal to release a product like to unsuspecting customers.

SF5 should have the "early access" label on it. I feel sorry for all those people who purchased this game for PS4 and paid the full price.

I don't remember when I've played such an unfinished shoddy product.

Goddammit, finally got out of the rookie league, then lost to a guy who the game said had a perfect connection, but was in fact the laggiest piece of shit I've had the misfortune to be ranked with. Back to the rookie league...don't think I'm going to do well for long enough to get anywhere in this game, haha.

You have to play footsies and find the buttons to keep him out. You go into a string and release or fuck it up you will eat SPD everytime.

Thanks, I guess I'll play some practice against the AI - that was the only Zangief I've met online so far, doesn't seem very popular compared to the endless Ken's.

I really have to find a more comfortable way to play SF5 instead of just switching. Even the slightest adjustment fucks up what I'm doing.

Anybody got any tips for Birdie players when you're up against Karin's and other people that go in hard? Not having a reversal move is killing me, especially with 5 frame command grabs.

Lol i saw someone with a 8 win streak in ranked thinking he might be good. Dude was fucking terrible doing only sweeps. So right as I beat him it disconnects.... So it's possible to get a high win streak if u just disconnect in time?

Yes. If you ragequit/disconnect/whatever, that person does not take a loss and their win streak remains intact. And the person who should have won doesn't get it counted as a win.

Goddamn, my ps4's WiFi is such shit. Im constantly getting logged out making it practically impossible do any the single player content much less online matches.

It's not your wifi that is the problem.

The problem is that Capcom outsourced Q&A to paying customers and still released an unfinished product.

You know what? Maybe that's it. I did play lots of single player because the servers were down.
But I leveled up so fast!

You seem to get a shitload of XP for doing SP stuff compared to online. When I switched over to PS4 I jumped straight online and after a couple hours of Ranked/Casual Match I was only like level 3 or something.

Yeah playing offline gets you more FM and exp for sure. I recommend grinding some survial mode everyday at least to farm FM.

Please get an ethernet cable for your PS4, man.
But if you can't do that, at least use a Powerline adapter.

You got this. The game is super new. I consider myself good at fighting games, and even I have lost 4 matches today. There's going to be a LOT of really good people stuck out in rookie since they are just starting too.

Plus, new game, new mechanics, new frame data, etc. It's going to take a long while to break these match ups down.

Gief is one of those characters that can always win if he just makes 3 right decisions or you make 3 wrong moves and he capitalizes on it. Don't let losing discourage you---let it fire you up. #RiseUp.

Watch this video, this video should be in the OP of every "i suck at fighting games, how do I get good?" thread:

No excuses. Work hard and you will get good.

Yeah, right now I don't really care for fight money because I'm getting the season pass, which gives me the characters.
But I'll still need fight money to unlock all colors, right? Season pass doesn't give me that?

Yeah the season pass probably doesn't include various costumes and whatnot but even with characters you could use the fight money you stash now to buy DLC characters from wave 2 next year.

There should definitely be a penalty for disconnecting.

With KOFXIII you would get banned from online play for 24 hours if you disconnected too much. This would be a fair punishment for SFV as well.

part of Birdie's idle animation eventually is that he picks his nose and flicks the booger. The booger actually damages.

My new goal in life is to somehow win one match with that

My ps4 downloads ass slow outside of rest mode, can't connect to the store or even use the share button features. It's been a problem since I got it. Capcom's bs certainly isn't helping matters though.

We heard you the first time! ;-)

I'm getting my a** whooped, played 4 matches today and always got the first round, after that straight losses!

Any idea if i get the guide, will it help or should i spend more time in the practice room?

PS
All ranked matches.

Does anyone know if m bisons V triggered phsyco inferno can still combo into EX headstomp? Im trying like crazy to get it here but I cant get it to work.

All the saltiness evaporated last night once the matchmaking started working. So damn fun, until my six win streak was decimated by a crazy Sim player.

Watch your replays and try to see what you are doing wrong.

Haven't beat a single Ryu yet. Damn.

I love Nash but he's no Cody!!!

I may have to switch my main, he has no range and I could care less about the flashy Marvel vs Capmcom style he fights.

Ok and now a Necalli just had his way with me. .man I'm reduced to scrub status for real.

Reminder that you can use Share Play to play local versus with a friend.
You both must have solid connections, though.

I'm on PC, so no go on that.

It's working for me. No idea why it's not working for me but not others. I played a few matches using it not 10-15 minutes ago.

Edit: PS4 vs PC matches too.

Which system are you on? I had a PC one set up on the first night and was able to invite my friend without any issues.

Use ryu that's what I always do for any new SF. He is the most basic. And you can learn the new systems too while keeping things familiar.

Probably using Wifi, to be honest.

Having a good connection/ping/fast speeds isn't why wired ethernet is better. It is about duplex.

Wifi can only use half duplex. It can only send OR receive data, but never both at the same time. And that goes for ALL end points on the Access Point. So if you are playing SFV, you computer is only sending OR receiving data. Now- if say you have someone else in the house on Wifi streaming a youtube video, watching Netflix, music, browsing NeoGAF whatever... it will also need to send data back and forth to them as well. And remember, it can only send or receive at the same time.

Wired ethernet is full duplex. It can send AND receive at the same time.

So even though they have a great connection, low ping, whatever- that isn't going to stop some of the lag you see people playing on Wifi have.

Hope I can play this tonight. Karin is a blast, I'd like to play someone other than the CPU and see how it goes.

The Ken dream ends. I have 0 handle how to get in with this guy and keep up pressure.

R.Mika online warrior incoming. I need command grabs to scare folks lol.

Every Cody main I know has gone to necalli and play him like a savage

You try not to be put in that position to begin with. Birdie's big weakness is when he's getting rushed down his normals are slow (4f is fastest), and he doesn't have a move that is both invulnerable to attacks AND throws, it's one or the other. His EX hold 2 buttons down, release has 1 hit of super armor, but I've had mild success with it.

Keep Karin out w/ st.MK, watch for her cr.HK, and don't jump her. She'll anti-air, dash into you and now she's in your face when you land forcing you to play a mixup. A lot of her moves are punishable, and in between the enders is usually a gap to hit her out of it.

What is the indication of someone rage quiting during the winner's end-match winqoute. Is it the "match's data not reaching the game server" notification at the bottom left?

I would love to read who people end up maining once the dust settles. Especially compared to who they played in other SF games or FGs in general.
