I've only seen one other here mention the slowdown whilst being online but playing single player. Happened yesterday in training and now in Survival. It's well annoying. Like running in water or something.

Slowdown definitely happens, playing locals all day yesterday and the frame drops were definitely noticeable.

With all the criticism and negative attitudes swirling around this game, Capcom should just panic button the Alex trailer so we can all move on.

Can someone please explain how a game that has been years in the making, YEARS, can be released like this?

I just don't understand.

Network infrastructure rather than game build quality.
Could have made the game over 20 years and it wouldn't have mattered if their network infrastructure sucks.

servers repeatedly dcing reminds me of a fuckin wow expansion launch

godlike game when it works tho

Right now I wouldn't even mind playing offline but the microtransaction coins don't accrue when your playing offline.

No but there was two betas where the online didn't work they released the game anyways

Not an expert, but noticed a couple things. One, you can easilly combo that elbow stab grab move by starting with either m. Punch or h. Punch. Second, you're playing to safe, get in there and pressure. You're a grappler with excellent speed. Most characters are going to be afraid. And if you find yourself fullscreen, get that projectile charging for some different pressure.

Just quick things I am seeing will elaborate later on. You are pressing too many buttons in dangerous positions is the main thing sticking out to me I see you throwing out alot of MP from ranges that aren't safe or smart multiple times. Also your movements are very static and somewhat slow you hold forward and back for too long and it is telegraphed as to what you are going to do and where you are going to be. You walk forwards into crossup range quite often. You are playing safe when you should be pressuring and pressuring when you aren't safe.

You are not using hit confirms properly I see that you are canceling into her special off of blocked MPs that is leaving you open. This will come with practice and getting used to the game. when you get hard/soft knockdowns you are not setting up any offense and you usually end up getting hit with lows more than you should. When you get a KD on someone you pause there and just walk forward waiting for them to get back up.

I don't have much, if any, playtime with Laura but you need to utilize her dash and vskill to close the distance when safe and to set up offense. You are eating too much damage trying to get in on characters. Use her quick speed to close the distance quickly when there are openings to do so.

Overall calm down on the button presses, control your movements to make the short and quick to pick your openings, and work on your hit confirms combos and don't be afraid to light to combo you don't always have to do MP. I'd look up some Laura combo guides to get some more ideas on ways to get your offense varied. Also try to throw more when you can I didn't see you go for throws much when right in their face. It will keep them guessing on wakeup.

Use her fireball fully charged on hard knockdown and go in with a jump in or low/overhead depending on their reactions. It will help to cover your incoming pressure and mixup. You can also use it fullscreen to help close distance against characters trying to keep you our. Neutral jumping on their wake up at the correct time with j.HP will also help you keep pressure applied.

You aren't a bad player by any means so don't feel like I am trying to say you are doing everything wrong as you seems to have the general idea of what to do but don't have the execution and knowledge to get it done properly and efficiently. There is more I could go over but I would go look up some combo guides like I said and higher level matches on youtube to get some ideas and I am sure players here that have experience with her will be more than helpful.

Cool thanks for the tips. I definetly don't know what to do after a hard knockdown, I usually try to go for her command grab and get destroyed on their wake up. I'm about to go back into the lab and look up some more combos.

I think the game took away a bunch of fight $ for some reason? I swear I was at 197K some, but now I'm back to barely over 196K.

I need to keep an eye on this...

Just checking rewards and I got 7k the second fight didn't register the fm despite the game servers going down in the intro for the 3rd fight..... Annoyed
Got no fight money when Ryu went from level 3 to level 6 despite servers going down about 30 seconds after that fight ended, actually pissed now

Having to be connected to the server to earn fight money but being constanty DC'd and booted to the main menu in any mode is a fucking wreck. My friend and I were playing local VS and got booted mid-match. That shit is unforgiveable.

I was going to finish Story Mode and a Survivor but I can't log in. Did once or twice but was quickly booted to the menu.

So right now the only way to reliably play a heavily-online-centric product is to stay logged off, which prevents you from earning currency. And I'm not going to do that because I don't want to replay this SP shit.

A-Fucking-Plus.

Another thing, for all the talk from people who say fighters don't need single player/story and such, I'm hearing and reading a ton of comments on Street Fighter's lore. Giantbomb's dedicated a huge amount of their time talking about it on this week's podcast and hell Ono himself I believe said more people asked him about story/single player in regards to SF compared to things such as game mechanics.

The distinction is in regards to its longevity, not whether its an obvious critical feature to the core game. It's in the discussion now because it's encompassed in the larger discussion of SFV's featureset as a whole. GB is more likely to bring it up by extension of their love for Mortal Kombat as a talking point and its hard on for cinematic full featured cutscenes.

Yeah, those grapples are too low range._._
Ifound Necalli can somewhat 'combo' into his grab from alight punch. Laura might have somethin like this too. Trick the opponent into blocking, then grab. But, Ihave not tested it thoroughly yet.

Uploaded 3 matches on YouTube looking for some feedback on my Laura.

Hopefully someone sees potential in me. I think I could've won those matches if I put some more time into Laura.

I haven't played SFIV religiously since vanilla IV, but I am getting back in the game and trying to main Laura.

When they're down, act as if you want to sweep or jump up with HP, but do a (command) throw instead. Mix it up. I played guys who fell for multiple throws in a row as I constantly faked with short sweeps etc.

When they're blocking your combo thats unsafe on block, you can get out with V-trigger I think.

Also, i'd punish that stun on FANG with a combo. Like j.HK, MP, MK, V-Trigger, HP, Ex-fireball, Airthrow. Its what I like to use. I don't know many combos yet.

And yeah keep the pressure with those charged fireballs and V-skill dashes to close in. They're pretty good tools afaik.

Would it be worth the time of wiping my save data and starting again so I get the fight money I'm owed by replaying from scratch or with the server link this won't work?

Her LP elbow is completely safe too, it's -2 on block so you are at a slight disadvantage but it does get you into their face safely. Also her S.MK is a great normal, you need to use it more and start incorporating cancelling it an other normals into her v-skill dash.

Also almost no use of her fireball, which is pretty crucial in keeping them locked up/advancing/combos/mixups.

Overall you're just not applying enough pressure, which makes landing one of her command throws pretty hard to do when you're not giving them reason to block.

Ugh got frustrated and got beat by a terrible cross up Ryu player.

Annoyed at myself for losing to a repeat strategy like that.

I'll do cross ups all day if I see the opponent has no clue how to block it. Best to get the fight over with ASAP lol.

If you get your anti air buttons down then you'll not have to worry about cross ups.

Oh for fuck's sake. Literally just beat the 10th character on my first Survival run on Easy and it disconnected after the You Win screen. Can't believe Capcom didn't manage to launch the game's online without issues after three fucking betas.

When I lost xp and fm from server issues, replaying that stuff while online corrected it. I would try that first before doing something so drastic.

Finally figured out it was a bad breakaway cable on my PS3 stick causing it to disconnect. Thank god, I was ready to pitch it off of my balcony.
