Whoo! a fellow Laura player!

I'd recommend working on your pressure game a little more. Some light jabs and shorts would really help keep your opponent on the defensive, which would allow you to utilize your command grab more. For example, I like to do two low jabs, standing MK, and then cancelling the MK with the command dash V-Skill to get in closer and continue the pressure. Laura's standing HP is also fast, has good range, and can crush counter, so I'd recommend mixing that in as well.

I noticed that you use the QCF + MP to end the combo with a knockdown; what you can also do is use QCF + LP, which puts you in optimal range for hit/throw mix up when successfully hitting an opponent. I would also practice doing cross-ups after a hard knockdown since Laura's jumping MK is really good for doing that.

Just remember that her special moves aren't very safe on block, so I would refrain from using those unless you can hit confirm

It ends up not mattering, because the majority that don't follow game sites don't know they go on half the time. I asked my friend who pre ordered the game if he was jumping on and I just got a blank stare. Still, if it got a few more on, it could have helped
 
What the hell is happening. I can stay connected to the server indefinitely if I leave things at the menu. But I've started timing it and I cannot stay connected for more than 50 seconds in any other mode, even training. This can't be normal right?

Is this happening to everyone on PS4? I've heard a lot about the connection problems but I haven't read accounts of it being this poor. Any news on what others are seeing?

First chance I've had to try playing. Home sick, considering going back to sleep.

agreed!!! although The Division is a different game, Ubisoft is smart for having an open beta for all with the Division. You'll have a way larger pool of people to stress test their servers. SFV should've done this...

This is Capcom, the cheapest of the cheap, but they surely must be working on some kind of consolation content for the players.
 
Sorry if this has been answered already, but lets say I am doing Normal Survival, I lose connection somewhere in the middle, then complete it. Am I no longer able to get the EXP/FM bonus for first time completion? Or do I just need to clear it again?
 
Is there some special way to play with people on your friends list that I'm not realizing? Or is it just that I'm not getting it because the servers are fucked?
 
These severs.....woo boy, these servers are literal and utter shit. Haven't tried ranked yet and won't until this is fixed (also because I suck and casual is decent practice). But I've been trying and finding matches most of today only for the server to disconnect pretty much everytime.

are you sure your usb connection is secure? I have been using my ps3 TE for several hours today and yesterday with no issue.

Personally. I think I'm going to deal with the grind because the pass doesn't included anything else and I don't need all the costumes. I'm sure Capcom will have Double FM Weekends and such. An entire month between characters is doable and I don't need every character right away if not.

So since pre-orders got an alt for free, that means there is no way around spending the $4 per costume for the remaining 15 on the base roster, which is quite a hike from last gen. Worse than DoA5, actually. It comes to $60. For newcomer DLC costumes 6 x 4 is $24, which is just $6 shy of of the cost of the pass. So if you want the costumes I guess you might as well buy the pass and avoid the FM grind?

So assuming you're going to grind out the DLC characters but you still want the costumes, that would make the total cost of Street Fighter V $144 and you'll have 22 characters and 38 alternate costumes (including Story Mode Costumes) in the end. Everything else being implemented should be considered covered by the initial $60 cost of the game itself.

EDIT: Seriously, $4 a skin is fucking bananas. I thought SF IV's were over priced at $1.25 each back in the day. I thought DOA5's were ridiculous at $2. But $4 fucking dollars? I know, I don't have to buy it. And I won't. That doesn't mean I can't be mad about it, as I would have liked to have the costumes but I simply can't justify that.

Um what? DOA5 has costumes that range from 2 to 5 bucks on the store. Where did you get that DOA5's were cheaper. Your point still stands but still.
 
I feel bad. I keep getting the same Laura in ranked that doesn't really seem to know how Birdie works, so I can just grab her over and over.

Not sure on that, but to be honest, I'd wait before doing all the in game stuff that earns you fight money/ points until they get the server business sorted out.

I've been one of the defenders of this game, but I'm not just gonna leave it be till stuff works. If I lost that stuff, that's pretty lame.

To all you guys who keep going into survival even though you know the servers aren't stable yet, you should probably stop. Seriously, how many times are you gonna rage before you realize that it might not be a good idea to do survival when the game can disconnect at any moment?

Ryu was probably already leveled up, that FM you were supposed to get is for leveling Ryu up, which you probably did already by playing survival or online matches.
 
I'm a bit behind the times here. When did they say costumes would be 4 dollars each? That can't be right. That's really expensive.
 
Tried getting a refund since I bought the US version to use on my European account and the DLC isn't available to all accounts and this was the answer I got from chat:

"Your refund will be processed as a one-time Gesture of Goodwill back to your wallet. Your refund will be reviewed within 3-5 business days and you’ll receive an email once it’s been approved or denied."

Is it a standard answer or is this one-time Gesture really a thing?

I started Ryu from scratch, from level one when I started story got 7k for the whole story, no notification of level 3-6 level up and no fm for those either haven't played online or survival with him only story

Yep, tried both ports too.

Stick has always worked perfectly on PS3, and DS4 pads charge fine on PS4. It started out ok yesterday and then it started disconnecting more and more frequently. I'm using a Mad Catz Tournament Edition S btw, never had any issues with it. Between this and the server issues I'm done till the next patch.

You have to search for players then add them to your favourites. Then go to Battle Lounge and invite them. But good luck with that since the Battle Lounge has barely worked so far.
 
I fucking hate survival mode. Fucking AI reading inputs and wasting time. I hate this mode and putting costume colors behind this mode is fucking excruciating. I hate playing AI and doing the same move over and over and over against brain dead AI only for it to start reading your inputs is maddening.

Absolutely awful mode.
 
Of course the one match I lose in the last hour is the only one with no disconnects or failure to upload the result to the servers. Of course it fucking is.
