Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

Jump wasn't a reliable option they timed shoryukens to counter jumps

Don't jump in bad ranges. Inch yourself a bit closer so you can jump behind them when they try to shoryuken, or a bit behind so you can safe jump (being able to jump, land, then block when they try to shoryuken)

So how many hits can Zangiefs V-Skill armor take? I was hearing a lot of people say it can only absorb one hit, but I confirmed yesterday that it can take at least 2.

nope, cant join lounges, people cant join mine. Welp... guess im fucked with this game because apparently its "working" now so...yeah

That kind of connection on a delay netcode would be utterly unplayable. I'm talking "slow down until the game freezes and the match disconnects" unplayable.

Rollback isn't a magic solution, lag is lag, it just makes lag a bit more bearable and good connections a million times better.

SFV is using something similar to GGPO, right? Not quite GGPO, but their own tech I think?

Some options you can do as Ken:

Hadoken to match the fireballs so you can gain meter, EX Hadoken, tatsu, air EX tatsu over his fireballs then do a punish combo, neutral jump, block

I much preferred SFIV bad connection of lag instead of this weird ass rollback. Like I hear the hit confirm sound on my screen, but then it rewinds and turns out they blocked it. Doesn't feel that good man.

You can't fix terrible connections, but what rollback does is make the game feel as close to offline as possible for decent-great connections.

Shoot I'm in Hawaii and it feels like offline outside of the 1 teleporting Ken I fought due to rollback.

I'm starting to notice a trend of people not being able to fight against close range defend follow by grab.

I destroyed a few Ken and Ryus who just kept using Shyoruken that I defend grabbed.

Block because of your crazy amount of health, use his V-Skill, and I'm pretty sure his headbutt can clash with Fireballs too?

Block doesn't damage the opponent, headbut is slow and you need like half a screen to counter a fireball, you certainly cannot use it to get into damage range.

V-skill is too slow to do anything also, it a counter tool imo, which is useless against fireballs.

It's a little frustrating actually, that when I start up an online match, my mind kind of freezes and suddenly don't know what to do to attack the opponent. I always end up doing fireballs (sonic boom), some moonsault (even though it's very unsafe) and small combos like mp > lk >hp or hk > mk > hk.

Yeah, but you can use all those options to slowly inch your way in, and dash in between fireballs.
Zangief is meant to be played patiently. Use your health to eat that chip damage, and then do 30-50% once you're finally in.

WTF does Gief do against fireballs? If you lariat too close they just punish it, if you jump too close he so slow he gets SRKed.

He slow as shit so they easy run away and start it all over even if you do get in once.

Need green hand back!

You have vskill to absorb and his headbutt normal also nullifys prohectiles.

ok yeah im not going to bother with survival. playing EASY was painful enough with the CPU just standing there lol

combofiend plz (yeah i know he probably had nothing to do with it)

Had a really frustrating fight, played one of the best games yet and nearly perfected the M Bison player, his health was pretty much gone and.....disconnect. Later that evening my PS+ membership expires </3 I was one win away from my 10 ranked victories trophy. Ah well, I'll renew it later.

wow, just witnessed my first ragequit by a rashid. he had like 1000lp too, and I get nothing out of it. This sucks.

on last round, he has like half health left and I have a pixel left, I manage to come back and right as I land the killing blow '' connection lost''

Said the same, game slowing down and inputs being a bit delayed is better than a guy teleporting about, hits not being hits and fireballs appearing in your face from nowhere.

Getting annoyed with all these negative SFV threads. One is completely understandable, two is kinda pushing it but having like four of them is ridiculous.

I know some people are pissed off with the game but the amount of threads bashing the game is stupid, especially seeing as a lot of them seem to not understand that the $60 price tag will be justified soon.
I'm just taking it as a good sign that all of these people bought the game in the first place (or will buy it in a few months). Everyone will love it by the time Urien is out.

Also, anyone else get incredibly intimidated when you face someone online with one of the harder to unlock colors? It's like the scariest thing lol

Use your V-skill to absorb them and build meter for V-trigger, which you can use for punishing fireballs in range (you can whiff punish with it as well), then follow up with air ex spd for a ton of damage.

Charge HP has armor and a long reach, as does EX Siberian Express. If you just tap V-skill, you can quickly absorb single hits and start moving shortly afterwards which is very useful for getting past fireballs at close range.

Again, it won't fix terrible connections but rollback netcode is definitely better. You can actually practice offline stuff in a decent connection with rollback code. You're not learning a damn thing by playing with inputs that are hella delayed (nor with teleporting opponents, but with rollback you can have a decent practice session with 3-5 bars, where in delayed based netcode, you're likely learning bad habits at 3 bar connections)

So I haven't been following the game a ton up until now...in online matches, does the matchmaking seperate people into tiers, where you will mostly playing people around the same ranking as you?

The answer to that problem lies in the heart of battle.

You just gotta keep putting yourself in that environment until it feels natural. Then, you'll be just as technically impressive as you are offline. Or near it, anyway.

This still happens to me sometimes when I'm not 100% confident in the character I'm playing.

Yes, but sometimes it messes up. I ended up being matched against a super bronze player despite having 0 league points.

It does, but since the game just came out a lot of the "pros" are still low ranked.

No I think that's intentional to have rookies and bronze players play each other, it's just still skewed since the game just came out.

Yeah, the community is separated into Leagues. You earn league points which will promote you to a higher league, and you can lose those league points and be demoted as well.

oh just fought a flowchart Ken with a 5 win streak. Those actually exist lol

I destroyed him with Gief, I was sure he was gonna DC on me. But he didnt.

Also yeah, I CAN get matches see, just takes ages and I cant use battle lounge. Help

I actually believe it's the opposite. There's a large contingent of people who don't like Capcom based on their business practices and relish when they have egg on their face. They're still mad about Mega Man or on-disc DLC and they want Capcom to implode because they don't play Street Fighter or Resident Evil anyway.

I'm not discounting that there is a lot of people who bought the game and are genuinely dissatisfied with it, that would be an ignorant position to take. I'm talking about the posters who would shitpost "I'll wait for Super SFV" prior to launch. I highly doubt every 1/10 user review on Metacritic was buy someone who actually played the game.

Yup! You can completely disregard this by doing the Fight Request in a different mode though. When I actually select "Ranked Match" from the main menu I get all Super and Ultra Bronze people, but I get a lot of rookies when doing Fight Request

That's actually probably more likely lol. I guess some people were burned really hard.

I am going to pick up a motion character on the side this time, I think. Unfortunately I don't jive with F.A.N.G nearly as much as I figured I would. Still a cool character (and has the best theme) but I find myself just going back to Bison who is just more fun to use.

Looking at Necalli until Guile finds his way into the roster. Guess I just enjoy stomping on people. Should probably check out Alex more closely when he releases...

Again I'm pretty sure it's intentional to get Bronze opponents as rookies. Just feels like a huge gap since all the good players haven't ranked up yet. Has anybody who is Rookie got any Silver opponents?
