Doomed? Nah.

But it certainly is a clusterfuck at this point.

Ibuki being shown off on CPT and yet we have to wait for the update, which should've been before this past Wednesday, really bugs me. If she's good enough to demo on various streams, why do we have to wait until late June again? Makes me saltier than I already am on a daily basis. XD

Fairly good chance she was delayed because zenny shop isn't ready and Capcom didn't want half the DLC characters going for free until they fixed it.

Having a character at a playable state is one thing, it's another to have them fully debugged. That's not even mentioning the verification process via Sony. Though if I had to guess, as Scotia said, Capcom probably wants the Zenny Store finished before Ibuki goes up (since they don't want half of Wave 1's characters to be under an indefinite Free Trial).

While SF4 expanded registrants every subsequent year @ Evo will SFV reverse that trend by contracting in 2017?

As long as they keep putting out character upgrades no way.

A portion of the "Street Fighter failed" crowd is salty because of the systems that it did not launch on.
Another portion is because they are seeing other games get attention and would love to see SFV fail so other games could take over events.

Some do have real issues, the rage quit thing sucks.
But it has improved and will be fixed.
The input lag....the most amusing thing about the input lag thing to me is that friends of mine who were getting bodied long before they heard of the input lag issue blame it for everything now.
It is there but at least it is even across the board, and again they have said they are aware and are looking into it.
I myself have never had "netcode" issues so I can not speak on that.
Some people just want things to fail

Only by Capcom.
Except they just put out an update blog
Oh wait, you were being witty HA HA HA

Think about it.
A single bug and the shit fit that certain people will throw.
Everything will be micro analyzed or else the same voices will be even more nasty.
They need to make sure it is perfect

it didn't have 8f lag

It did have framerate drops and screen tearing, though.

I have to wonder though...why didn't Capcom Japan say that the roadmap was BS until now? It feels slightly disingenuous to say 'it was all Capcom USA's idea, blame them' when Capcom Japan could've squashed it much sooner.

You mean the one blog that just repeated practically verbatim what they took all month of May to say?

Silent for over a month, one blog post makes it all better.

Okay.

JCVD Guile's CA would be rad. First, he's gonna get on his boat, and he's going up-river...

JCVD beats Fang: Do you feel it? I know you feel it.

Man, what the hell. How has this turned into auch a cluster fuck.

This game seemed to start off with such good intentions. No the own company is eating each other.

That's just sad man. If anything Capcom USA and Combofiend just wanted to do the right thing. Now they're getting shat on for it.

Yeah, I can see that -- but knowing the defects that escape in any product on release, I'm sure something will be screwed up and they'll have to adjust it later.

Given the history of SFV, I'm pretty sure things are expected to broken/buggy at this point. ;)

Not too sure I see the problem with alcohol sponsoring, and I say this as someone who's never drunk any. Not too knowledgeable about the sponsorship business and the FGC, though.

No porn or no booze allowed...

Now let us get back to making mostly naked characters with monster boobs.

Matchmaking is so busted. Not even sure how I got matched up with a 10k bp player, or a player from Taiwan, then one from England each averaging from 6k to 10k bp. I'm only at 3k.

I don't know if it's been posted already, but someone on SRK did a more accurate translation of that Japanese blog post.

Hello everybody this is Ayano. In this blog, I would like to report on 3 questions which were widely submitted about Street Fighter 5.
1) Ibuki's release date
On May 31st we announced that Ibuki is the next DLC character, and received many questions concerning how the release date is later than originally presented.
We believe the source of this information is from Capcom-Unity, a community website managed by Capcom USA.
However, in Japan this same kind of roadmap was not presented.
The reason why announced content is different by region in Japan and the United States is that prior to releasing information about Street Fighter 5, announced content is decided by each regional team independently in order to rapidly respond to the needs of players in each region.
This time when Capcom USA presented their roadmap, Japan's Street Fighter 5 team had also considered presenting this roadmap as well, but considering the current state of progress on development we concluded that, at least for Japanese players, we should not hold up expectations by releasing information that we could not 100% guarantee.
In the end dividing information by region brought misunderstanding and confusion among our all of our players. We fully realize our error in judgment and give our deepest apologies.
Starting from Ibuki and moving forward, in line with the release date of new content and characters, we will announce the same information promptly across Japan, the United States, and the rest of the world.

It feels a lot less like they're blaming Capcom USA, and more like they're acknowledging that they have terrible interoffice communication.

Indeed it does. One of the reasons why development in this game is strange is due to this lack of communication not just with its audience but with each team from the USA and Japan. Something must be lost in translation between them in terms of messaging, marketing and managing this game otherwise I have no reason why they are having all of these issues. As they go forward they absolutely need to unite the two divisions and implement a clear cut strategy to build this game even further.

This has always been a huge problem in Capcom. The left hand not hearing what the right hand is saying.

I really hope they work this shit out. It shouldn't be that hard.

I really need to get new speakers for my set-up. The ones I currently have for my monitor keep acting up on one side or both.
