I'm not sure how much casual mode cares about MMR.

I just assume they match you based on your ranked medal level, MMR, whatever you wanna call it. Like I will never play a Rookie in casual mode anymore, especially now.

so.. should I just play ranked?

even though I suck?

like are the matches more even?

You will fight other true Rookies. Lounges are always a good option though.

Yeah, just hop in with people here after looking at their points (to make sure they're below 1000), or just ask for people Super Bronze or lower to set something up.

Just finished story mode on hard / extra difficulty. If you're used to survival mode then having unlimited retries and being able to pick right up where you left off makes it a breeze at times :)
I earned enough fight money to buy another stage too (bought the beach this time). Now the only new stage I'm missing is the Casino, but maybe I'll earn enough from doing various modes with the two remaining season one characters to earn it.
SFV is my GOTY by far. Some things may be difficult but when you accomplish something, you really feel like you earned it (reminds me of Gran Turismo 5 in that regard). Online matches are a blast and I probably haven't had this much fun with a fighter since MvC2 back in the day. Currently sitting at 86 hours and still having a blast!

It's great to see there's going to be an alternate way to unlock colors. I just pray that it's not "Spend $5"
I also may be in the minority here, but I don't want it attached to Fight Money. Sure, there's a lot of FM in the game, but characters, costumes and stages are already mad expensive and will drain far more than the normally available pool. EDIT: Hell, I bought the Season Pass, have cleared most trials and Easy/Normal Survivals and I'm still almost out of FM :/
I'd much rather they associate colors with the trials or something. One trial, one color, or something similar.

I'll gladly take either unlocking character colors via leveling up or purchasing the colors with Fight Money from the Store.

Yup, would be fine with either of these.
Just take Survival out of the equation, for the love of all that is good.

... I just cannot believe you have to unlock the colours for each costume separately as it works right now.
It's simply mind-boggling that they thought that was a good idea considering how little there is to work with in terms of customisation/individual expression.

This may sound like 'baby's fist online match' question, but does lag make grabs super good or something? I've been getting grabbed through attacks I shouldn't be all day.

So we're at that point in the game's release where there's a bunch of smurfs cause I don't think a Karin with only ten matches and won every one of them, and knows all of her set ups is a new player

They could've played just casuals/battle lounges this whole time because they didn't want to do ranked until now.

Guys, guys, guys. Balrog is so much fucking fun. I have my new main it is glorious. I just took out my boy's Laura. I *hate* Laura as a general rule. He was messing around with different characters at first and losing so he went crawling back to his main---and still lost. Two Gigaton Blow's to the grill in separate rounds. Sooo good. And I've barely scratched the surface with him!!

inb4 random drops for doing Daily Targets

Still far less frustrating than survival. Once you get near 30, the game ceases to be fun and it just switches to input reading mode. You can play the game normally and lose, or do the 1 or 2 things the A.I. doesn't know how to react to for 70 more fights.

Colors didn't need to be unlocked in SFIV, so why is Capcom suddenly treating them like some kind of big bonus worth grinding away (and paying) for? It's so scummy.

"I don't buy it."

A lot of good players don't play ranked much at all. They either grind sets with other players they know or play offline. They'll occasionally dip into a Ranked match for shits and giggles. This is something you run into when games don't have placement matches to place a player in a skill bracket and instead just have all players start from 0 and gain points.

Will a Saturn Pad work on the PC Version? (I presume so, but want to double check) I may have to double dip and get it on PC and do it that way until there's a way for me to use in on PS4.

edit: Or if there's a converter that'll work, that'd be more ideal.

Just picked up the game today to play with my sister, who was a pretty big SF4 fan. We both tried out a used stick they had hanging around, and we both hated it, so we're gonna stick with pads. Is there anything we can pick up that would be better than the normal PS4 controller? Or is that the top of the line at this point?

Her name is Lara and I main Laura. Every time I win I go "hey look, you won!"

Normal controllers are perfectly fine but there are controllers like Hori Fight Commander 4 are an option as well. I use one that Big Brett gave me, it took some getting used to but I'm liking it now that I'm getting the hang of it.

Both versions of Hori Fighting Commander 4 are really good, and an improvement from the PS4 pad, in my opinion.

Hori's workable for motion characters. But not for charge ones.

I'm using Guile, no problem at all.

yup, he's awesome and the stage music make my adrenalin pumping. best music in SFV by far tbh

I beat my scrubby friend with 3 randoms and then he beat my main ;_;, granted I was mostly fucking around, but I still got slightly salty haha.

That's a weird mentality to have, any controller should be workable for charge characters.

Er, why? I legit find it so much easier cramming the stick into down right on an arcade controller, then slamming up, listening for the click of sweet flash kick then I do on a ps4 pad, where playing a charge character feels like my thumbs are tied together. I have no such problems with motion characters. I think it's a legit opinion. It's harder to get the slides over from b to f or d to up on a pad

Yeah this just comes down to comfort or whatever's easiest for you. Luffy won EVO on a PS1 controller. Don't matter what you use. Use what's comfy!

What the heck, you all shat on akumetsu cause I made fun of God's Beard for gushing about projectile spam? For shame.
You know who wouldn't spam projectiles? Akumetsu. Plus, technically a grappler, whats not to love?

Like Street Fighter? ;]

Seriously, I have considering picking up manga again just so I can figure out half of the lore, that seems completely unexplained any where else.
This is all you need to know!!
