Japan still doesn't think highly of him (even though they constantly get bodied). They're convinced he will be trash once the input lag is fixed.
It's his lack of a very fast normal and reversals. I believe he's seen as a very good character, but he lacks the high mix-up or comeback/momentum shift of other characters.

I think Mika is just a very anti-Daigo kind of character. Mika is the queen of 2/3s. I also think a ot of Mika's bad matchups are characters that are bad or not used very much. Fang and Zangief in particular. But hey I'm an ultra bronze scrub so eh. ¯\_(ツ_/¯
Well, the thing is that Mika doesn't actually have many MUs objectively in her favor at all. Here's a list of 'em:
1. vs. M. Bison
2. vs. Vega
3. vs. Balrog (probably one of the most lopsided MUs in the game)
4. vs. FANG (??? No idea. I feel like it could be 5/5)
5. vs. Dhalsim (so they say. I think this one heavily depends on individual playstyle)
Laying it out like that, she has a bit more than I gave her credit for, but those characters she has an advantage over are the ones that people use less than others. Then we enter the part where the others that are left are absolutely either 5/5 or have a distinct advantage against her. Those with an advantage:
1. vs. Ryu
2. vs. Ken
3. vs. Chun-Li
4. vs. Nash
5. vs. Necalli (??? Might be 5/5. I personally hate going against Necallis so much)
And then, even though they're equal MUs, Mika will clearly have obvious difficulties against Zangief, Birdie and Alex because of their range and because they're also heavy hitting grapplers. Scary dudes.
Mika's great. One of the best characters in the game. But, when we're talking about a character with obvious weaknesses like this, does she really warrant being in the same league as Ryu and at throwing distance from *Chun-Li*? I dunno.
Cammy really that high? She's so predictable.
Her pressure game is so scary, and has good knockdown and corner carry, plus she has the equivalent of 3 supers per match.
And she can walk in and out of range so fast.

It hasn't even been a year and the first year of DLC still isn't complete. I feel like this game has plenty of options for people who aren't character specialists.

I realize it's normal since the game is still relatively new, but I feel like tier lists are really all over the place. Mika was supposed to be terrible at launch IIRC, for example, and my man Sim was supposed to be downright unfair according to some people. What's the consensus on Alex? I ended up picking him as a secondary (he's pretty fun, lol), but I'm not feeling like he's particularly great...

The list solidified like two months ago and the top 5 was apparent early on if you were willing to take a risk and call it prematurely. Ryu, Chun, Nash, Ken, Necalli, Cammy, Karin, Vega, Mika and Dhalsim are very strong contenders for top 10. Alex is kinda meh overall, but strong gaf players keep telling me he is good and many eventhubs commentators swear up and down the streets that he is a low key Mika just brimming with potential. If you ask me he is bottom 5 with Bison, Fang, Gief and Ibuki (something I can't quite grasp yet).
I think Ibuki is the strongest DLC character sheis the hardest to use and how dangerous she is varies with the player but I've really seen some untouchable Ibukis online especially at super Gold+ leagues she is probably mid tier among Rashid,guile and the others not among the bottom.

Because it's already easy to react to run/dash stuff. lol
I wish I had a collection of quotes from people on neogaf telling me Cammy is predictable/has few options/needs an overhead/etc.
She's amazing. You can't block everything.

Just referencing to some old posts. My favorite still has to be that one gaffer claiming that Ryu is lowtier. But yeah Cammy seems to be fine as is.

I have the PS3/PS4 version in my etokki Omni stick. The pcb is really good. Easily updatable on PC when Sony tries to break shit when they update their firmware.
I was having trouble updating the firmware when I got mine with the PC tool. My results don't match what the instructions say to do. Did you have any issues updating the firmware?

Not a Laura player, but the key to victory is to ask your opponent whether they want to be your grappling bud.
Also don't just use that v-skill overhead by cancelling it from a cr.mk or something, that shit is punishable on block and obvious as fuck.

I would love to see a graphical enhancement like KI got. Looked like a whole different game by Season 3. 720p -> 900p, improved lighting, etc.

Ryu and Chun have been pretty consistently at the top, and Mika has been pretty consistently considered her own Mika tier. Aside from that, it's been pretty much all over the place.
Frame traps are your friend.
Focus on whiff punishing and counter poking.
Play patiently. You can win a match in five seconds with a few guess no need to rush in and kill yourself.
Learn to bait and punish v-reversals with jabs and grabs.
Learn which fireballs to use depending on where you are in comprasiont o your opponent. Light fireball can anti-air surprisingly well and can shut down some options like Ken's tatsus.
