This has been their goal with this title from day 1. Slowly growing the competitive scene for it. Monetizing them. Seeing them go 5 brand new chars for season 2 is an insane move, and I love it.

If this is true then I'm excited to see the different play styles they each have because they did such a good job so far.

Throwing her out of the roster is hyperbole for sure, but Mika is a severely unbalanced character in that she almost entirely relies on her mix-up game and pressure to win. st.mp being -6, mid-screen wallbounce being gone AND being unable to change the direction of her whip?
That is murder and it's all because people couldn't be arsed to learn the match-up.

Yep. People that think Mika was OP or something are people that never played as her. Her mixup game is all she has. Now she has nothing.

ahahahahahahah what the fuck

I think I'm gonna drop this motherfucker. This is bullshit.

Why did they choose to kill Mika, a character that was balanced fine the way she was (might need a small Lady Mika nerf). Might as well remove her from the roster.
Did the salt that all the scrubs threw at capcom about Mika, when they couldn't be arsed to learn the match-up, ruin everything?

Yeah, good call. That would probably for the best.

She...was scared as much as anyone else in the corner? I don't follow. Do you think her s.mp is this weird unblockable 3-frame move or something? You can apply pressure on her as much as anyone else.

Irish Whip to immediately put them in the corner blender was pretty damn strong

Does any other game do that? I can't think of any.

Uh yes? Pretty common actually. Games will say certain things are coming. Yet will be purposely vague on exactly what the hell it is. They also never give hard dates. I still can't fathom why people would buy into these things without detailed descriptions on what you are getting.

It's not even correct to approach Mika in the corner. You stay at midscreen because she gets one touch and you're getting bounced into the blender.

What? No, this is exactly the opposite of how you play against Mika. When she's in the corner, you continue applying proper pressure and block strings. Like you do against any character who doesn't have a reversal.

Sounds like they're just testing things.

I usually just run away from Mika, even when I've cornered her.

Her s.mp has a 5-frame start-up and is -2 on block. Could only combo into irish whip at short range. Her irish whip in itself is unsafe on block and slower than s.mp. She doesn't have any particularly strong way to get out of corner pressure without risk unless she manages to capitalize on a mistake of her opponent.

Furthermore, without irish whip, mika has some real fucking difficulty to get people into the corner. She has no particularly good ways to close in on opponents and has to take risks to do so. Now, any instance where people manage to get out of the corner, she loses every piece of momentum she has and has to do everything all over again. Besides, why the hell are you trying to get Mika into the corner. Her weakest position is mid-screen, keep her there.

She isn't a strong enough character overall to be decent with the tremendous nerfs they gave her. In the meantime, characters who are already incredibly powerful like Chun get buffed. This is why I'm saying it's probably due to the salty scrubs that have been bitching about her when getting their ass kicked due to not knowing the match-up.

As a Mika main, thank you for this.

And this is exactly why people complain about her: because they're not playing the match-up right. You're all rejoicing now, but I guarantee you that good Mikas will still be wrecking those who just complained and didn't actually study the MU.

I don't even think Mika will be bad after this like some of the hyperbole suggest. All the changes I've been hearing have been reasonable.

I wonder how many of these nerfs/buffs actually go through. They're clearly just testing them to see what the feedback is.

Possibly they are not even looking for feedback, but are simply using a build including Akuma that they prepared specifically for PSX. The version in active development could already be quite different from what people are seeing at PSX.
