Street Fighter V |OTVI| The More I Know, The Worse I Play

So guys, we've talked about characters that got buffed/nerfed with these changes, what about PRO PLAYERS that got buffed/nerfed?

I think Eita in particular is going to have a tough time of it. Ken can play considerably less YOLO now, and one of his best ways of getting in, the EX divekick, isn't as good anymore.

Xian for sure got buffed but he's a character specialist with a character that has very clear flaws/strengths so...

I think MOV is still gonna be just as amazing with Chun as before. His Chun was so good on what felt like pure fundamentals. He didn't rely too heavily on IAL so I think he's gonna be fine.

Eita already said he might switch to Akuma. That was his main in SF4.

I think Wong might have even more of a problem.

Chun should still be pretty damn good, especially if there really is more neutral after the patch.

Yeah, it's worth it. Boom loops are super situational and rare. Also, it's 2 bars now, so you'll get more booms more often. Hella worth it. C.hp AA crush counter. HNNNNNG! His vtrigger is still legit interesting and unique. Its purpose isn't combos.

The real nerf is the c.mp pushback which could be a problem for his other combos that aren't as situational as the boom loop might be.

More quickly, maybe. How often does a character activate v-trigger twice?

Very often.

I don't know, seeing two 2-bar V-Triggers happen in a single match is quite rare.

One can make the case that it might happen more often for characters with a 2-bar V-Trigger that's a move and not necessarily an activation, like Rashid's but for other characters like Laura and Chun-Li, it's rare.

Yeah? I almost never see that.

It does depend on the type of V-Trigger. But a lot of opponents go for the earliest activation so they can take advantage of a second one later on. You're essentially guaranteed 5 bars over the course of a round, barring V-Skill shenanigans. That means, unless an opponent is hoarding it for a specific opportunity, a simple activation can guarantee you another use if you don't need to depend on the V-Reversal.

I often go against Karins who'll get two activations in a single round (which is a pain). I don't really see it happen with Chun-Li. Happens with Rashid all the time. Mika, too, if they just want to assume advantage at neutral early on.

If the v-skill meter gain on CCs is higher like mentioned then we could be seeing a lot more double v-triggers in a match

Ltg free to throws and command grabs.

Like sigma free.

Did he hold up at all? Like on the Floe matches it was almost egregious.

He held up during wakeup and Floe air-spd'd him.

He never held up during blockstrings and floe hit him almost all of the time with ticks.

Knowing your timing is important.

I hate fighting against Gief. I always underestimate how far that dude can scoop me up from.

I play Laura right now and I feel like it is a pretty good matchup for Gief since I don't have much range. I'm just a noob though.

gotta be reaaally careful with the fireball since a good gief will do the HP/HK you out of it before you release it

even trading is to your disadvantage obvs

Actually, I see it all the time with Chun-Li's and Cammy's. Also, crush-counters build a grip of V-gauge, so you get a few of them a round and land your v-skill, it's not too uncommon to happen. It happens a lot during grueling rounds as well.

so ive been playing the game this week and the game is good , just the online that suck sometime, but i like the characters et the fact that you get fight money to buy the others dlc i just hope that we get a pro patch in season 2

So what's Capcom's stance on mods again? Do they only act against stuff that helps accrue Fight Money (see Survival) or are cosmetic changes to characters also ill-advised when playing online?

I just purchased the 2017 Character Pass, but I noticed that they renamed the 2016 Season Pass to Character Pass (likely to avoid confusion).

Aaaaaargh, I just lost a 16-game win streak (my highest by far) because of my stupid neighbour knocking at my door repeatedly, completely put me off.

I need some kind of sound-proof isolation chamber to play this game in :(

I wonder if he's talking about balance change, new characters info, or a mix of both.....?

Hopefully it is about the new characters, i don't see much point in learning a few details about the balance changes since we already know a lot of stuff and since unless we learn everything and see how it plays in the game there is no point in knowing anyway, It only leads to tons of premature "capcom why did you kill mika " comments.

One time, someone knocked on my door in the middle of a match. I got up to answer it while holding the PS4 controller in my left hand so I could still use the pad and press the fierce punch button (which I mapped to the shoulder button). While talking to the person who came to my door, I randomly pressed buttons hoping for a miracle.

And it happened. I returned to discover I somehow won. My opponent must've been really confused or something.

It was your opponent at the door trying to timer scam you, good thing you didn't fall for it.
