Have you ever actually tried to use Laura?

Nice deflection. Saying things like Mika has "good short range" buttons compared to Laura is a perfect demonstration of how delusional you are when it comes to the character.

And yes, I've played several matches with Laura. I have a vast amount of experience playing against them, too.
 
How do they come from "Hey we're nerfing Chun's Air legs" to leave Dhalsim's Air Flames + OB? It was better than her Air Legs in every way in S1.
 
sim doesn't have the rest of chun's kit

Difference is Sim has a longer grab range then Chun, his light Drill Kick that has no hurtbox and pokes that are fast enough on recovery to get out an Anti Air and unlike Chun, There was two Sims at top 16 with Goichi a Chun specialist switched had to switch to Guile.

^^ I'd argue Nash or Juri fall under the same point as her, if not being slightly better. Nash at least has damage and Juri has strong pressure once she gets in. They're still struggle characters, but at least they have some bonus. Plus they can both anti-air

I'm genuinely interested in this exchange.

To follow up from yesterday, she has an anti-air for every situation, but picking the right one in the right moment and having so many different ones (st lk, st mp, cr hk, b hk, st hp, st hk all for very different and specific spacings) basically means that if you didn't happen to pick the exact right one at that point, you eat big damage. ex bird is the only consistently effective AA but costs meter and does very little damage unless you risk it happening kind of deep. That's not to say ex bird isn't good, but that's usually the best case for her to reliably stop a jump in. Otherwise she runs a strong risk of trading or just straight up losing.

In terms of pressure, at best off a throw (if it's in the corner being best case) she'll be 0 after a dash forward to stay in their space. This means she doesn't have a true throw loop and also can be beaten out or trade with 3fs on someone's wakeup. Mid screen the best she can really hope for is the person to wake up pressing buttons with her pretty far away, which is just a dumb idea all around.

She's also unable to tick throw due to the nature of the pushback on her normals. Previously she had iall for a tick throw situation but now that it's -2 on block, she lost her only tick throw setup. Since throws aren't a threat from her unless you see her pressing forward after a hit or blocked normal, you can just block low. If she goes for the overhead, you have a long time to just tap a jab that'll knock her out of it.

These are just points specific to you asking me about anti-airing and pressure. Sorry for not typing it all out last night, but I was only on my phone and I hate typing long messages with my thumb.

Oh got it. Wow, I don't think I'd realized she lost her cLP 3f though.

yeah it's 4f now, so if I do iall and it hits (it's +3 on hit, previously +4) I can't do her bnb of cr lp, st mp, cr mk, mk sbk. The best I usually get is cr lk, cr lp, lk sbk.

you can do the cr lk, lk legs, s lp, lk sbk which is kinda hard but very satisfying to land. But yeah the damage still sucks

GGs, Producer. Haven't spent enough time with Necalli yet, but he's only Day 2. I'll get there with him. It feels awesome to be in control with him when V-Trigger is activated.

GGs. Vtrigger necalli is so good, that damage and speed man. Also man i hate getting hit with his sHK. You use it well already hah. I think you definately need to work on his AA game. I was jumping much more than i usually do against necallis

I'm always scared of jumping in against Necallis myself. Picking him up, though, I've discovered that his AA options aren't actually that amazing? His AA jab is dumb, but other than that he's only got his cr.HP (unreliable in some situations) and his DPs. I guess it's just that I'm not used to having to do a shoryuken motion to anti-air.

I dunno man, his jab is good (and dumb like you said), and his DP gets the job done and does good damage. Seems pretty good. But mika does have a pretty solid anti air with cMP so i guess i can see why you'd think his aa options arent that amazing. But they are, lol

Hell no, I think Necalli's AA game is better than Mika's. Her cr.MP is so specifically angular; I hate it. It's cool when it lands for the 50/50, though, but it gets stuffed so often that I hesitate in using it now, especially since opponents get full jump-in combos on it.

EX Wingless Airplane is one of the best AAs in the game, though, so she has that.

But, like I said, I think the go-to is Necalli's DP, but I just suck at doing that motion in the heat of the moment to AA like that. I don't typically play characters that have those motions.

oh yeah cant forget about ex wingless. But yeah i feel you on the dp motion, when i play cammy i often mess it up because im not used to it.

That might be more worthwhile to do in the update where they improve the charge window but right now it just doesn't seem worth it to go for since the overall damage and room for error are too high for me to risk in a serious match

Taylor appears in Guiles (or is it Kolin's?) story mode as voiced character. That really doesn't mean he's selected for the DLC cast.

Edit: Someone on the 'chan said he was a fill in for side characters.

That Tweet doesn't mean anything. The first three characters appear in Akuma's story and the other three appear in Kolin's.

Wow I am absolutely loving my time with Kolin. Maybe new characters to the franchise can be gnarly this season. Hope Ed makes it in.

I'll bite, tell me what's good about her.

She still has her strong ground game. Yeah, she can't rushdown anymore with IA LL xN so she has to be more reactive/defensive than before but she still zones well. stLK nerf hurts her AA game but she has an air throw and decent air normals to compensate.

Her EX moves are still strong, IA LL still is a good throw bait tool, still has a good dash and backdash and walk speed. She's sitting fine in the middle.

There are definitely more than 5 characters worse off than her. Juri, Nash, Alex, FANG, Kolin, Ryu, Mika, Birdie, Sim, Akuma.
