The last beta was very smooth outside of first hour or so. Hopefully that translates to the actual game.

And I really hope the server overhaul includes overhauling the server maintenance process. That shit is way too long.

As much shit SFV gets at least I can get matches reasonably quickly with people around my skill level. I like the way GGXrd plays but the online is depressingly bad. Even with all the fighting games I buy there's only a handful I can call "playable" because it meets the minimum qualifications in gameplay and online for me. Here's a quick rundown of how I feel about current fighting games with a 3 (out of 5) in both categories being required for me to bother playing them.

SFV: Gameplay 4, Online 4
GGXrd: Gameplay 5, Online 2
KOFXIV: Gameplay 3, Online 1
Killer Instinct: Gameplay 2, Online 5
NRS Games: Gameplay 1, Online 5
Skullgirls: Gameplay 3, Online 5 (although I still don't bother playing this one)

I really hope Tekken has great online play.
Xrd is useless if you don't have a local/regional community to play with, their match making just never worked. Though if you do, it has a great lobby system, makes playing in an SFV lobby painful.

Does Xrd have FFA lobbies? Seems like no one wants to implement those anymore, not even NRS..
 
So what's the official balance patch going to consist of? I'm hearing Karin nerfs and getting excited.

No they are joking because punk won eleague with karin = getting nerfed. Because you know, nash won Evo and they sent the goons after him. Mika won CPT so they ran her over with a truck.

Karin is easily the most complete character in this game. A "fair" top tier character with clear, exploitable weaknesses. And outside of gameplay, she has a great character design, outfits, theme, and iconic intro. I would love it if more characters could elevate to her level while remaining unique. That's probably very hard from a balancing perspective.
 
I might be remembering wrong but will the new patch help with canceling into charge moves? I can't for the life of me get Alex's stmp or stHP into headbutt/stomp but I can do Uriens stLP/fMP into headbutt/knee

You are remembering right. The input window for charge motions is getting increased from 6 to 10 frames. So you'll have more time to press a button after you do the motion.

I'm always surprised by how high the stun Kolin generally does is. I don't know if it's just placebo or something but I feel like the amount she does keeps her in matches that she wouldn't otherwise survive in.

Just fought a rog and was down like 90%. I hit him what feels like very few times over the course of the remaining 40 or so seconds but the stun bar got high and stayed high when i got him to like 40% and made him more cautious to press a button the whole time and eventually I stunned him in the last few moments of the round and won.

It's like a mini comeback factor.

Watching the Poongko match w/ Kolin/Birdie yesterday, you can see what kind of gameplay they actually want out of SFV- they just have a lot of overall design/feel issues w/ the characters that are standing in the way of the game they envision.

Necalli and Karin don't need nerfs. Ibuki is a perfect example of how a few actual buffs can turn a character around. Do that across the board.
 
Im not sure if i think necalli needs nerfs or not but i find it strange how they gave a single character every option. Projectile (albeit a strange one), dp which has ex inv reversal, full screen rush attack, dive kick, command grab, great normals, an overhead AND a v trigger that lasts till the end of the round and makes his every option +1.

At my level (silver) i dont find him an unstoppable force but on paper at least he is kinda crazy.

It is probably not the source of your problem, but it is worth making sure just in case.

You can get to the firewall settings by pressing Win+R, and then entering "wf.msc" and pressing enter or the Ok button.

Can i just disable firewall while doing the port-forwarding process? Im on ps4.

I was watching Combo Breaker so I missed the RB finals. Hope they get uploaded soon so I can see FANG doing work before Capcom nerfs him.

He makes good points but I stopped watching when he said "less, effort, required". I think that's just downplaying the players who have done so well with SFV, which is a game that is far more of a read based and "honest" game than other past titles in the series have been. Also, if some pro players or people feel SFV doesn't give them enough "execution" I'm sure they can go back to the previous game right? Yet here we are. SFV, Smash, MKX and Injustice all require less execution and are more accessible than other FG's in the genre but that doesn't mean they are any less credible in terms of competition.
