Pretty much in the same boat! Granted, I know there are a lot on GAF that are international players, so their MM pool might not be so great or robus.

The pool of players ain't the cause of slow matchmaking.

Even if there were only 3 people playing online worldwide, two of them would fight each other, and the third one should only wait, at most, the time the first two took to fight each other.

The waiting times for matchmaking are way longer than that.

they need in-game betting on major tournaments. And CPU vs CPU matches. What I'm saying is SFV should integrate Saltybet into Fight Money

No one would pay for this.

Pretty much in the same boat! Granted, I know there are a lot on GAF that are international players, so their MM pool might not be so great or robust, but about 10% or less of my matches have been 'bad' connection wise (probably closer to 5%), and the times i've played on my PC or on the PS4 & PC at my friend's place were exactly the same. I feel for those who are getting matched in bad internet areas though.
Jersey and NY seem to be good places to play SF. I haven't had as much trouble as some on the forum either. Hopefully Capcom can grow the userbase so everyone has a nice pool to play with. A good 3 million active players spread across the globe should be enough. I think they should definitely do a free to play version with just Ryu as a starter character though to grow the userbase.

The cash shop has nothing to do with story mode outfits.

There is nothing to buy other than Alex and 5 premium outfits in the cash shop right now. If you're going to criticize them for anything, it's that they don't have any content for their games as service game for consumers to spend money on.

The cash shop and FM shop are the same thing. Or have you magically been able to use your story mode costumes?

So, yes. It has everything to do with story mode outfits. You can't use them yet because everything is in the "shop" FM and premium. Because they can't get their real money shit sorted out, we still can't spend our FM. Understand now?

But the betting would only be between other spectators, there'd be no way to boost.

So it'd be similar to Saltybet? What's stopping a group of 8 boosters creating a lobby, fixing fights between each other and farm FM by betting always on the winner?

Terrible idea... we already fight too many Ryus online.

As for sales, SF5 on Steam has sold LESS THAN 140,000 copies WW. So if you want to start calculating sales, start from that. But it's probably not higher than 500k right now because the game has simply stopped selling.
139,347 WITH a 8600 margin of error. So realistically it's probably between 140 and 150k. And PS4 is obviously going to be the main console for a game like this, historically fighting games have not been huge on PC. USF4 sold a lot but that's also because it's on sale like every other month, and also the USF4 listing includes people who just bought AE and never upgraded.

I still think my aforementioned estimate of 500-700k makes the most sense based on what we know.

Four persons could get together to make tons of FM.

You can even make an alt in your console and have him finish some survival modes, and then transfer all the FM to someone else using this method.

It could work if you could only bet a token amount of FM.

Even that could hit gambling laws in some places.

Wow a whole two free story mode costumes that should have been unlocked when you finished their story modes in the first place.

Them not being sure when the real money stuff is happening is hilarious.

And to top it all off they wait to the very last week of march. Mad jokes.
Do you even play?

Haven't seen u in the OT b4...water is getting warmer guys, another couple of months with updates like this, and we'll have a classic game. Patience

Someone would have to actually take up the bet. If everyone bets on the same person, then the bet fails.

Ah, I didn't think about someone creating more accounts to leech money from. Good catch. Though technically this problem already exists right?

If that's the case, then the premium outfits come to $24 total and the season pass is $30 plus you get a level then the season pass just got more tempting. I can save my FM for story outfits.

This is what I am doing.
My FM can be for colors and story outfits.
Season Pass will take care of the heavy lifting plus the premium costume for each

It'd be kind of silly if you unlocked the costumes after a 3 minute story mode too. These things have been known since before the game launched, why are people still salty about it?

Sure, but it costs Capcom nothing. Your FM purchases are tied to an account that you cannot transfer -as of now-.

Ryu and Ken are always always going to be dominant characters online. They are the face of the franchise and Ryu is literally the base design that ALL characters are made from.

Should be used to it by now man...Ken army isn't as strong in this one though. Lot of karins

No, because the money stays on that character.
I have two accounts, one for each PS4.
Each has to carry its own weight and only has its own unlocks.

Right, but you could have separate accounts for separate unlocks. Cumbersome... but it'd work.

I assume they won't make it permanent since you can "theoretically" just blow through all the Story and Survival stuff for them, earning the FM and Colors for them without paying for anything.

Oh no, I didn't mean full, unfettered access to a given character. Something like allowing X amount of hours/minutes(?) in training mode or usage for X amount of rounds in lobby matches.

Just give people a means for getting a feel for a new character. Nothing more, nothing less.

EDIT: The circumstances for their trial here is different due to players being unable to outright purchase *just* Alex, but once they sort out the whole zenny shop, then the above scenario would be more appropriate.

P curious about this.

It's funny. I have been banned for a month but still follow the OT everyday and almost none of these people bitching have ever posted there.

Do I need post in the OT to play? I wasn't aware that was a requirement. Ah the hoops on this game.

They were silly enough to have 3 minute story modes to begin with, so sure why not. It doesn't really matter if they said it before launch, there's no statue of limitations on dumbness.

still needs tons of QOL improvements. ragequit fix, connection filter in lobbies, UI fixes.

happy to see alex. i'll make sure to try him, even though i probably won't play him. lots to do.

Read the op only the zenny part of the shop won't be available you can spend your fightmoney.

It is weird to be mad about something months down the road when you knew about it ahead of time. With all the issues the game does have being mad you're not getting all the story costumes for free seems like a strange thing to be hung up on.

Unfortunate the store is being delayed, but reasonable resolutions to the issues in the mean time, and not having to blow 80k fight money on those costumes is good. That's almost a whole character.

It sounds like it's possible the money store won't hit before the character next month. Hope they sort it out.

Also, for those complaining about no arcade mode or other fixes not planned as part of this update, any unplanned fixes were probably never going to be in the fist update anyway. Those would be coming later after they catch up.

I'm not expecting much out of the season pass stage bonus though. It's probably just a recolor.

Still not the best news, but they are at least providing a decent workaround. Everything wasn't going to get resolved in the first patch.

Lmao Unless Capcom said here's your money back for the season passes and here's Alex for free most wouldn't be happy. I'm waiting till June for the story mode to buy this game cause I've played every SF all my life. I don't play online as much in fighting games because it takes so long to get good in the lab to play against others who aren't your friends but I might try for this one. In all this is the best I could see Capcom doing given the situation.

Who said I dont have any other issues? This thread mentioned this specifically so I felt like calling it out. I just find this "gift" real stingy, but then most of the game feels like it was cheaply made so I guess it's not that out of the ordinary.

Why do costumes even matter...there is no character select online so not like you can change color or outfit on the fly.

Seems like the delays were due to account issues people have been having with CFN. They can't open up the real money shop when your account might just go poof without warning so they had to figure out a workaround to get the shop open and Alex into the players' hands without causing a riot.

I'm disappointed with the lack of word on daily challenges and stat tracking this far out after launch though, that seems like stuff that should have been in day one but I suppose they have a lot on their plate just trying to patch basic funcionality into the game. :\

Additionally, we will be giving all Season Pass users a free, brand new stage in the near future!
Yeah, yeah "soon"... -_-

Multiple matches going concurrently per room, a la Gundam Extreme Vs, Skullgirls, and ArcSys games.

What's funny is that even in GGXrd, where you can have multiple matches going on in the same room...some people still chose to wait in a crowded line rather than fight against a person who was free.

Like, sometimes, I'd be sitting there in an open slot waiting to fight, and people would chose to wait in the packed line. At that point, you might as well just have KOTH style.

People just like taking down the person who has a long win streak, I guess. Like the old arcade days.

So, SF5's lobby system will be fine.

Can't wait, season pass is ready.

I just hope they sort out the fake 5 bar connections, get full bar, get matched to another continent where it's lag city.

Hmm not sure why every time I go into an SFV news site its like im playing a completely different game from everyone else. I have great connection, get games quickly, I think I play against 2 rage quitters maybe every 10 hours or so, MAYBE. I only play Ranked, I fluctuate between Ultra Silver and Silver league. I encountered almost no rage quitters in Bronze, Super Bronze, and Ultra Bronze unless everyone here is Ultra Silver and up I didn't know GAF had so many amazing SF players.

No, you're not alone.

In general, my SF5 experience has been pretty great, too. Connections are 95% lagless, generally quick downtime between matches, battle lounges have worked, etc. *shrug*

Maybe the people who have good experiences should make as much noise as the people who don't, so that people know the other side of the coin. But, honestly, it's not human nature to make a huge stink when things are working fine...so, generally you only hear from people who are upset, and it colors the general perception of the game.

Where is the negativity in this thread coming from? Holy shit.. The update that was suppose to come in March is indeed coming out in March. Everyone is getting Alex for free until Zenny is implemented. We get two free costumes and season pass holders are getting a new stage, Like.. what the hell were you guys expecting?

Theres still a lot of shit needed to be fixed.

Its commendable that Capcom made this title crossplay, but the netcode right now is one of the worst I've ever experienced in a fighting game.

Calling it "Alpha Ryu" is too generous. Alpha Ryu looks cool, this does not. More like SF1 Ryu, the ugly looking one.

Same goes for the Alpha Ken skin.

So we now have Ryu, Hot Ryu and finally Shitty Ryu.

While we have Chun-Li, Hot Chun-Li(story alt) and extremely hot Chun-Li.

Having the option is what matters. Yes, sometimes people will want to fight against someone specific, most of the time people just want to play.

Just need the fucking Lobbies ffs

And also hope that they fixed the online problems, don't even care about fuckin Alex

This, I don't even care about alex, and this just proves my point. They could've give us the lobbies without alex and the store.

Eh? Other than the odd change to the palms of his gloves, looks like Ryu from Alpha to me. Less pretty maybe.

I vastly prefer the hair for Alpha Ken over his default one, at the very least.
