It's funny. I have been banned for a month but still follow the OT everyday and almost none of these people bitching have ever posted there.

I'm not surprised. The general attitude towards this game has been fucking toxic. Some of the criticism is warranted but it's way overblown. I understand why the game was released early, and on just about any one of these points, I'm thinking "Oh, well maybe they're having trouble with that. Ok. We'll see how they handle it." I don't see any signs of foul play and the core game is so good that I want to believe they'll deliver. Definitely I have some problems with the game but it's not near the level people are blowing it up too.

I actually retyped this post several times trying to make clear exactly how wrong I think the gaming community's reaction has been (moreso people who claim to be in the know), but I haven't come up with a cohesive response that captures everything fucked up about it, and at this point I feel like it's falling on deaf ears.

I have nearly 400k FM doing mostly single player content. Hope the new FM rewards are good. Im going to try to program some trials with a cronusmax.

If i can get close to the 1mm FM trophy ill make a run for the Gold leauge trophy. That should be enough to get platinum for this game.

Its commendable that Capcom made this title crossplay, but the netcode right now is one of the worst I've ever experienced in a fighting game.

Even though this is coming from "your experience", this statement is bordering on objectively wrong.

If SF5 netcode is among the "worst you've experienced in a fighting game", then you need to check your own connection or play more fighting games. In a world where most games use input delay, I have my doubts.

Gold isn't that hard once you get decent. 300 ranked wins takes a while though and 300 critical art finishes. I don't like to play ranked all the time so it's slower for me, but 300 ca finishes is just time consuming no matter what lol

1 mil FM is ridiculous

I haven't been able to play for a month with my friend through battle lounge without having problems. I get random laggy matches, the game is incompatible with my drawing monitor, I can only play with P1, so I need to have my stick plugged in. RQ is free. I could go on. The game is in beta#5, only that it costs 60 quids. I can see why people are upset, despite how good the fighting actually is (in fact, it makes things far more irritating: I play with my friend and have an epic fight, the the next 20 are a succesions of resets, BL creation and what not).

I had to look at the thread title again to make sure I wasn't in a Battlefront thread.

But, yeah, I agree. I'm shocked that, and this applies to most games on NeoGAF, whenever there is a positive news story the thread gets filled to the brim with negativity. And it's the same people in every thread. Why go into a post for a game you clearly have no interest in playing and urinate on everyone there?

Netcode is pretty damn bad.

Except it's not.

See how dumb and non conversational one sentence replies are?

The net code can be bad if both players are on WiFi or don't have great Internet to begin with. But for the most part it's fantastic, the fact alone that it's roll back and not delay makes it leaps and bounds above sf4.

Eh? Other than the odd change to the palms of his gloves, looks like Ryu from Alpha to me. Less pretty maybe.

I vastly prefer the hair for Alpha Ken over his default one, at the very least.

Alpha Ryu and Alpha Ken look subpar to me.

It's the face mostly.

Yea the online grinds i dread most. I got the plat for SF4 which had a similar trophy. It wasn't necessarily hard, it was just a lot of meaningless matches. I recall looking out the window contemplating life and what i could be doing with myself LOL. In sfv it will be worst due to how long it takes to get matched up!

Edit: argh. The 300 CA finishes and 300 EX finishes....600 matches right there. I was grinding the CA one with Zangief. I found that i could get each CA finish within 25secs in survival mode.

Netcode is pretty damn bad.

In what way exactly? I've played fighting games for 25 years, and this is some of the best netcode i've ever felt in a fighting game outside of KI & 3S HD. I've almost always felt huge amounts of delay when playing fighting games online, rendering them completely unplayable for me. I CANNOT play input delay netcode in fighting games at all.

The only bad connections i've ever had were with people in other countries, and i've luckily only gotten those matches very, very rarely.

Excited for this update. Been playing survival mode since I haven't played SF since the 90's and I don't feel comfortable going online yet. The game is severely lacking in content for someone like me so this is a welcome addition.

I did try to get a casual match going online and both times I got a network error message. Playing on the PS4

They should fix that then.

In battle lounge can I play ranked matches? I like to change characters, colors and outfits call me crazy.

I don't think you can play ranked matches in a lounge. Not sure though

It is stupid that we can't change characters/costumes between matches outside of the lounge

Of it. Doesn't have to be absolute one way or the other.

If you're talking about me, I paid $60 for a title and want to play it my way with various things that are included in the game not making me grind extensively for them.

Like I said: If the story outfits weren't "on-disc" and being DLC? I wouldn't bitch about the paltry FM you get for doing the story mode (LOL at that mode) and how much it costs to get ALL outfits. I get Capcom is needing money/microtransactions, but you don't microtransactions stuff that unlocked via playing the game AND already on the disc and being used in your story mode. You microtransactions things POST-launch/things you develop after the game is already out the door.

And there's also valid critics versus offline-play modes. There's no reason Versus CPU shouldn't have been in at launch, etc.

Sorry me "peeing on your game" lovefest isn't matching your opinion of the game. But I feel stung hard by the bare-bones and questionable design decisions Capcom made with this title.

Is there any science to that or is that just a guess?

Steamspy has PC sales at 150k. First week sales in Europe were like 80k, Japanese sales were 45k. US retail was around 200k according to NPD. Factor in digital sales and any additional sales over the past month and I'd say 500-700k is more accurate.

Which is not awful but still not very good and way below Capcom's expectations.
Just guesstimates...

US ~200k retail in Feb (you need to account for digital and March sales)
UK ~30k in first three weeks (needs add digital and some March weeks)
JP ~80k after three weeks (needs add digital and some March weeks)

PC ~140k

Just this small sample give us ~450k.

Are you saying me PS4 DIGITAL + PS4 March Sales + Rest of Europe + Asia + Rest of Americas is about 50k (to reach your lower number) / 250k (to reach your higher number)???

C'mon think a little about... Tomb Raider debuted at less than 200k in US and ended selling 1m before two months.

You can be reasonable to say the game sold 700-900k right now.

Fix the fucking matchmaking, it's a goddamn piece of shit. I just waited literally 10 minutes for a match only be matched with a bronze player(I'm in platinum). There is no way in 10 minutes no one higher than bronze queued up, and who the fuck are you filtering out if not bronze players?

From what I understand its all story, all easy survival, all normal survival, all hard survival and some hell survival and people are close to if not over 1mil.

Meanwhile I'm at like 6 normal survivals and that puts me around 350k.
All Prologue Story
All Easy Survival
All Normal Survival

416k

All Hard Survival + All Hell Survival will make you break 1 million FM.

Edit - Fixed.

Thank god. Sounds like a bit of a mess, but the compensation sounds good. Looking forward to the game actually being the game it should have been at launch soon.

hell no. it's nice to actually be able to play online, unlike SFIV where it was basically a different game

It's miles better than SF4's imo

Every once in a while I get a laggy match but it's very infrequent
In the way where I get into a match and the first round is okay, the 2nd round is rollback city, and the 3rd round is a mix of the two. Or when I connect to a supposed 5 bar, and it feels like he is half the world away. Or wait, he is, and I don't find out until the match starts. Or it disconnects after a minute of waiting after finding a match. Of course SFV's netcode is better than SFIV, but it's some half measure and Capcom did promise us some of the best available, which this isn't it. I still have fun online, but some matches, man...

If you like to change the character and color and outfit, do it in the proper screen, then go hit 'search ranked match'. Why would others have to wait for you to pick everything after being matched? Pick your options first, then get matched. I fail to see what is the problem here.

"This also will apply to any future DLC character that releases prior to the Zenny shop launching."

Oh man that statement is worrying. Seems like it will be a long way off.

As for sales, SF5 on Steam has sold LESS THAN 140,000 copies WW. So if you want to start calculating sales, start from that. But it's probably not higher than 500k right now because the game has simply stopped selling.
Like I showed before...

US + UK + JP (these 3 without digital and mostly Feb sales)
+ PC

~450k

There is no way the game sold less than 500k

To be fair less than 500k is IMPOSSIBLE with the data we have.

Regarding this point, I don't believe the story mode costumes can be bought with real money, only fight money. So it's more like an unlockable ala MVC2/CVS1.

However, having the in-game currency used to access said unlockables coincide with content one could pay real money for (thus forcing some players to pick & choose between DLC & content already on-disc) does make me roll my eyes. It's not nearly as egregious as the SFxT situation, but it sorta adds a black mark to the very progressive "unlock DLC for free" approach they've adopted.

All Hard Survival + All Hell Survival will make you break 1 million FM easily.

Anything over easy survival is a chore, and frustrating though. Just story and easy gets you 256,000, which is about all anyone with a reasonable amount of patience would get. Even having to get 30+ is a ridiculous requirement given you could end up with nothing one the AI ramps up.

Yep - easy peasy.

No Sweat

Will not be able to get it myself
Easy and Normal are pretty easy... 640k is easy.

Hard and Hell are really hard and I don't expect most doing it.

The easy part was about you will have over 1m if you finish some Hard or Hell... it is hard to do that.

My easily was about if you finish some Hard or Hell you will be over 1m... not the difficult to do that.

But I agree Easy and Normal Survival are brain dead easy... time consuming of course.

Didnt realize clearing up to Normal Survival can get me to 640k. I'll start knocking more of those out. Im thinking we can get quite alot from this upcoming update.

You're assuming sales have remained steady when they haven't. Word of mouth is terrible. User activity and attention on the game is poor. You know how many people are watching SF5 being streamed right now? 2,900 people. That's a poor amount. People simply don't care about a product that Capcom half-assed out the door and aren't delivering on what they promised.

Are you sure on that math? I have all but 4 characters complete on all of those (missing normal survival only) and am olny at 385k. Is there a bonus (large one) for finishing all charaters on normal survival?

I don't think this is accurate man. I did all easy all normal all story 2 hards and one hell and still only have 500k

I think hard and hell unlock the most FM but, at 50 wins and 100 wins they are pretty difficult.

Also helps if you use multiple characters. You get fm for leveling them up, but yeah ur math is a bit off. Shane off a good 150k

There is ample time to do this pre match every game locking it to a menu is bad design.

Nah normal is not that bad at all. Can be time consuming.

Hard is a cunt though...I've only did it with Ryu and Ken, gonna try Nash and Necalli though and maybe Rashid/Laura as well.

no it's not. setting preferences beforehand is pretty reasonable for matchmaking. you have the choice in lobbies to allow character select or not. even if you wanted to switch characters/staged between every single ranked/casual match, that would take less time than doing it on the character select menu. did you actually think through what you are or aren't missing out on, or are you just complaining because it's minutely different from before?

People aren't watching because no prominent streamers are streaming right now and there's no tournaments currently, that's a shitty metric

Final Round had like 50k-65k when SFV was streaming and was on par with the finals for the $1 million Halo 5 tournament

e: For comparison, Rocket League is still SUPER popular and has 1,938 viewers right now. Trying to gauge popularity based on twitch viewers is dumb.

Yea but it's still very much likely over 500k at this point. I think that's his point baseline for the game is anywhere from 500k - 700k

I wasn't talking about you, but the overall trend for people on GAF to find a game they love to rag on and pollute every thread with the same, ridiculous posts over and over and over again, offering nothing new or insightful, just doing it to be cool. Or whatever.

Legit criticism is fine. But, many of the posts are not legit.

For instance...

"Netcode is pretty damn bad."

and...

""march update""

And I'm even having a hard time taking people who post about rage quitters seriously. Granted, I haven't played a ton, and am only in Bronze league, but I have yet to see a single rage quitter.

Maybe because I suck... but I digress...

Hey LOOK! A new Destiny post! Everyone, ATTACK!

I've checked all the math and you would end up at around or just over 640K after clearing all of hard.

Read the op only the zenny part of the shop won't be available you can spend your fightmoney.

You're right. I apologize. Completely missed it.

Guess I should knock out some more of the shitty survival for some FM. Shame they don't give you any decent amount for, you know, playing actual people online. =/

Also, I find the netcode/sync to be pretty damn bad. I have a pretty fucking great internet connection and the game consistently gives me sync issues with both other PC players and PS4 players. It's no real secret. Check people's streams when they do stream. Bad connections/sync are not uncommon. So, either let us see our opponent's ping or give us better indicators to judge a potential connection. Bars aren't cutting it. I won't even get into Battle Lounges which continue to be a complaint.

You can only give them a pass for so long when other fighters are doing is better. Hell, I get better match quicker on fucking Pokken Tournament! =(

Yea that guy up top didn't say hard though. He said story/easy/normal gets you 640

When it's Story/easy/normal/hard gets you 640k

He may be basing that on a post I made last month, in the thread specifically about Fight Money implementation, saying it was 640k for story, easy and normal survival. I corrected that in a later post to the ~450k it actually is.

Here's my first post.

Here was my correction.

So I'll take responsibility for that bit of misinformation.
