Street Fighter X Tekken E3 Trailer and Info

The stuff I read in there, I think this has a chance to be a lot better game engine then SF4. I just hope it can avoid balance issues, but I have some trust in Capcom on that, since they got one of the SF4 games right.
I'm almost certain the game is going to be better than SF4. It's way, way more offensive, and it's an absolute blast to play, regardless of what character you pick. This game is going to be really good.

Personally this game just seems to get better and better every time new information about it comes out. I absolutely love that it retains the footsie aspect of classic SF but introduces some great offensive options which makes it look so fun to watch. And until this game drops it looks like i'll have to improve my hit confirms which is definitely a key part of the game.

Eh. To me the more i see it the more I realize how ugly this game is. -_-;

This game is going to have the footsies oriented gameplay of SFIV+ the sandbox feeling of MvC3 in terms of crazy combo potential+team dynamics. Having Tekken characters in 2.5D is a bonus as they introduce their cool moveset to a new audience.

Best of all is that unlike MvC3 and SFIV, it doesn't have or need comeback mechanics. ;) I expect a team level 3 super of some sort however.

Piecing together some of the final footage. Dart, I think I've got a match of yours in here too.

Oh no. Oh NO. I hope it wasn't one of the videos of me getting bodied mercilessly... :p

The question is without throws how are you going to bust turtles?

I can see that now being a real problem with this game.

Very nice vids Max,

One part of me wants to play and learn SFxT, the other parts tells me I'm too old to be jumping around from fighting game to fighting game spending thousands of hours in each.

The thing I love about the SFxT tag-ins during specials compared to the FADC system in SFIV (for cancelling Specials) is that the SFxT system is actually intuitive and makes sense. The FADC system is not an obvious application of the Focus Attack system. It doesn't feel like "natural" gameplay, instead it feels almost like an unintended exploit, even though it intentionally built into the gameplay. The special tag-ins, on the other hand, feels like a natural extension of the gameplay because of the game mechanics at work. Being able to hit "TAG!" during a special move feels like something fun and cool you can do, instead of being a technical/execution bar you need to hit to get more damage out. They're also something a new player could likely stumble upon completely by accident.

Agreed. I wish FADC's input was something like jab+strong+fierce+short. It would be so much cleaner (as other games have figured out). Also, I'd go even further and say that the double-tap forward or backward motion is just generally awkward in Marvel and Street Fighter. I wish SF had the option to dash with the buttons like Marvel (and maybe modify it to forward with two punches, back with two kicks?).

Loving these overview vids, thanks Max!

I think it's obvious we'll get characters like Akuma/Bison and Heihachi/Jin but counting the Dhalsim/Steve/Lili/Asuka tease these are ten characters from each side I want:

SF
Alex
Elena
Rolento
Urien
Karin
Cody
Honda
Poison
Rufus
Carl Viper

TK
Law
Paul
Feng
Lei
Yoshimitsu
Kuma
Xiayu
Eddy/Christie
Bryan
Raven

Here is the list I made. Keep in mind I'm not very familiar with Tekken characters past Tekken 2 so I chose them based on their looks. Assuming it's a 40 Person Roster:

Street Fighter
-Ryu
-Ken
-Chun Li
-Guile
-Abel
-Sagat
-Cammy
-Dhalsim
-Poison
-Karin
-Rolento
-Hugo
-R Mika
-Alex
-Elena
-Makoto
-Bison
-Cody
-Balrog
-Sakura

Tekken
-King
-Bob
-Nina
-Julia Chang
-Hwoarang
-Kazuya
_Marduk
-Lili Rochefort
-Asuka
-Lars Alexandersson
-Steve Fox
-Law
-HeiHachi
-Jin
-Bryan Fury
-Dragonuv
-Paul Phoenix
-Leo
-Yoshimitsu
-Raven

I really don't see two of the same type of fighters in the game. For instance Fei Long and Law Or Elena and Christie. They would make cool rivals but I don't see it happening. Would rather have as many unique fighters as possible.

If there's no Eddy/Christie, then that's a huge oversight. Probably the most known character created from Tekken 3.
I don't know who else I'd want from Street Fighter, I'd just say surprise me. I don't know if Rose would even make a good fit in this game

Would you prefer Eddie/Christie over Elena though?

She is a huge fan favorite...I can't see them having two of these types in the game.
Why not both? Just like Steve and Dudley. Two different takes on the same style. I'm sure Elena would have her healing super also.

Poison will be in. Ono has been going on about her on twitter for over a year. I'll take any "new" fighter i can get.
Yeah, she's highly likely based on everything that's been said. They know they can't just recycle 20 SFIV characters and call it a day.

Cross Counter E3 special: SFxT and SF3 Online Edition
After sneaking into the VIP area of the Capcom booth at E3, Mike Ross, Gootecks and Combofiend give you an exclusive sneak peek of Street Fighter X Tekken. Mike Ross explains the combo, juggle and meter system and then Gootecks and Combofiend play a match.

Afterwards, Gootecks gets an in-depth tour of 3rd Strike Online Edition from producer Derek Neal. We go through the parrying challenges and combo trials as well as brand new training mode features such as Save State.

I'm most interested with Lei and Ling - I want to see how Capcom would translate their stances...

Would Ling's Phoenix stance go under projectiles? How would the Backward Stances (both Lei and Ling) translate? And considering the multitude of Lei's available stances, he clearly blows Gen out of the water in this context. I would hope that Capcom wouldn't cop out by utilzing those stances only in a Super.

All I really want is JACK and Hakan, but I'm beginning to fear that I won't get either (especially Hakan).
Oh shit, Hakan is abso-fucking-lutely needed here

Okay, not really, but hell yes get that oily motherfucker in this game STAT

He's way too much fun to play with for Capcom to only put him in one game. Maybe they'll finally figure out how to not make him terrible to boot.

From the videos, I get the impression that there isn't a lot of options when it comes to combos. Just the same old bread and butter low to highs. Hopefully there's a lot more to it.
