Street Fighter X Tekken Gamescom 2011 Trailer

"Ugh" at all those Debbie Downers. This looks like the most fun fighting game since SF4 and people say it's boring. You guys just don't like fun at all, do you?

Amazingly that people get hyped for the first version of these games anymore though. Just wait six months after release for the real version to hit.

Well, if you're not a fan then by all means go along with this mentality. But competitive games like these need updated versions with patched content to stay relevant and continuously played. Just how an RTS fan will buy the original Starcraft 2 and all the subsequent Zerg/Protoss expansion packs, whereas a non-fan would probably wait until the last one is released.

I think fighter fatigue is setting in. It's another tag fighter after Capcom just released one and is set to release another. Then Namco will release TWO. It's wearing thin. =/

You would have a point if Ultimate MvC3/SSF4/SSF4 AE were expansion packs. They're not. It replaced the entire game for cheaper. So, why not wait for that when you know its coming?

TTT2 won't come to consoles until late next year. TxSF after that.

Right, because MvC and SFxT are exactly the same right?

I think it's due to the fact it has chain combos. Got to say learning that was really disappointing.
Chain combos make fighting games boring now?

I really must know how many of the downers in this thread actually play fighting games regularly.

Except that this one plays totally different soooo I don't see the problem. And I dont care all that much about what Namco does.

Look, I'm just giving an opinion why people may not GET HYPE OMG. I think its a valid one. You think fatigue won't set in?

I can't fathom how anyone can watch that trailer and say that MvC and SFxT are in any way similar.

I think fatigue will set in when the same shit comes out over and over again. SFxT is nothing like MvC.

Dude you play more than one character! It totally is the same!

/jk

You guys shouldn't bother with Kintaro, dude has been a Debbie downer since Super SF4 was announced.

Something something fatigue, something something gonna kill the genre again.

imo, it's already big news that SFxT uses a 6 button layout. The first current gen Capcom tag team fighter to use 6 buttons!

Wait, my bad. I need to fit in. Forgot.

Except that SFxT isn't similar to MvC in any shape or form. If anything, the main reason why people wouldn't get hype is because there's a Tekken factor involved. :P It won't stop this game from being much more fun to play than SFIV while still having a footsie game.

Ehhh...not feeling Raven. Most Tekken fighters look good on the SF4 engine (Kazuya looks badass!) but Raven is kinda off...maybe too skinny? By the way...where's TK Paul???

Anyone able to see some 'hints' at the characters that'll be teamed with Kuma and Ibuki?

There definitely is something hinted in the splashes at 3:18-3:19 to the left of Ibuki and something on Kuma's claw scratches? But a possible partner for Kuma I suppose would be Roger Jr.

Well, game certainly looks more interesting than when it was first unveiled. Maybe I'll be able to fit this in between KOFXIII and SCV. :lol

Sorry, I meant 6 attack buttons. And yes, assists are attacks, I realize.

WOOO! CAN'T WAIT![/QUOTE]

Why would it have anything to do with fitting in? dementia who is one of GAFs most obvious FG fans posted within the first couple of posts that he isn't hyped and nobody said anything. Opinions, etc...

People picked out your post because you didn't just express your opinion, but instead inquired how other people can get hyped for it almost as if they're wrong for being hyped. Oh, and the fact that apparently having a tag features makes the game exactly the same as any other fighter with a tag mechanic lol.

Kuma and Hugo look INSANE! And yeah, all the other threads have been pretty much hype. If anyone doubts the game just read an impression from pretty much EVERYONE who's played it.

I think it's setting in amongst casuals, though Soul Calibur will still do well.

I think it's the other games- particuarly Capcom's that will have disappointing sales. (Note: disappointing sales would still be greater then KOF, though KOF looks like the better game by far) That said, this gen has increased the number of hardcore fans, so it's possible that the effects of fighter fatigue won't be as bad. Really, what KOF does this time, provided it's got decent netcode, will be telling on how viable fighters are as a genre.

Honestly, I'm not hyped, but I'm not burying this either- just waiting a few days to see if this game is not garbage first- I want to like it since it got rid of what I hate from SFIV. I'm ignoring all of Capcom's other stuff, except SF12 (since it's free, otherwise I'd be ignoring that also)

Tag is a cool idea, but tag in itself isn't enough to really make me care. The dial-a-combos and cross assaults are the first new game systems to get me genuinely excited about this. Also it appears whoever cut the last horrible trailer still has his job as was evident from the footage of all the new characters at the end.

My vote is Paul for kuma

That big dude in the back is from Tekken 6

This looks really awesome. I loved the gameplay as it seems like it's a solid mix of Street Fighter and MvC, with a little Tekken thrown in. I'm definitely down for getting this, although I'm sorely tempted to wait it out and make sure there isn't a Super Duper Ultimate Version of it released later.

I question how someone can get hyped because we all know the more complete version will hit later. Then people will feign surprise and get hyped over the much more complete version of the game. So with the absolute crazy glut of fighters to play (and yet to come out) why waste the hype?

Also, to the casual? Yes, this and UMvC3 will compete against each other a bit. Will they pick up the much more flashy UMVC3 with characters they know from comics and games or this one knowing they will pay more for it and knowing a "super" version will come out for cheaper later?

Are they exactly the same? No. Did I say they were? No. Will the people Capcom depend on to succeed (read, not you and me) care or notice the difference? Maybe, maybe not. As someone who makes a living dealing with those people and having to explain the differences between MK, SF, Tekken, SC, MvC3 and so on? I have my doubts.

There is a 2nd game planned, but it's made by Namco, and as such will be very different. I suspect it will get released 2nd half 2012, pushing TTT2 back to 2013.
