OK, so there's a gif. It shows Robocop having a nightmare.

There's also a music track that fits the gif too perfectly for it to be a coincidence.

For years, I've been trying to find that track with no luck. You are my last and best hope to watch the gif in tandem with the tune and feel complete again.

I dont know if its a firefox update, but i used to be able to "ctr + f" and the find menu would appear across every tab, including newer tabs i would create.

Now... I have to ctr + f everytime. What gives?

Any way to fix?

Hey all,

I am having problems with my internet connection and have an extremely stupid question that needs clarification.

So according to my speed test, my download speed is 28.64mbs, upload speed is 5.84mbs, and my Ping is 12ms (I have no idea what that even means)

So does 28mb/s download speed mean that my download should be at 28mb/s when I download a program off of the internet? Because the speed will max at around 1mb/s. When downloading games on my PS3, it takes hours upon hours for 10+ gigs.

Also, I am lagging extremely bad when I try to play League of Legends with my friends (stuck at around ~8-15 FPS throughout the game). Could this have to do with my weird upload speed?

I am thinking about just wiping my macbook pro completely in hopes to speed it up. I constantly get the beach ball loading sign and multiple second freezes. I'm using a Macbook Pro from around 2011. I appreciate any help

8 bits = 1 byte which means that your optimal download speed will be (28.64/8) ~3.5 MB/s or megabytes per second.

Latency is the amount of time it takes for you to communicate with a server. In this case it took 12 ms (milliseconds). Less is better and it's especially important to have low latency when you're playing multiplayer games.

Yea hes correct about 3.5 mb/s down.

Also FPS has nothing to do with internet. If your getting low FPS change video settings in the game or your PC may not be able to handle LoL.

In honor of Veteran's Day, I need some clarification: do you have to actually go out and fight to be considered a veteran, or do you merely have to be in the service at the time? My family was stationed in Germany at the time of the Gulf War, and my dad (USAF) never went to fight, but would he be considered a veteran?

In general, I would consider anyone who was in the armed forces a veteran. You could use adjectives like war or combat to be more specific, but veteran isn't limited to certain activities or periods of history.

Thanks for the help Sarcasm and Arch Nemesis!

FPS has nothing to do with the internet!? No way? That's crazy, because I seem to get significantly better FPS when playing on my internet connection at my parent's house (though I haven't played there in some 4 or so months, so maybe it is a relatively recent issue with my computer?)

But I have a friend who is using the same 2011 13inch Macbook Pro and he gets over 40fps every game.

Is there maybe something I can do to get rid of potential corrupt files without completely wiping my computer? Since I purchased this laptop, I have never cleaned it up aside from deleting unwanted files (I have 198.27gb free out of 320gb).

When I first noticed the lag was getting unbearable, I had multiple gigabytes worth of crap all over my desktop and had about 100 less gigabytes of free storage. But after deleting all of that, the lag has not improved whatsoever.

I think I said all of this before, but to clarify, I am mainly talking about the game League of Legends. While playing with the settings on the absolute lowest they can go, I still drop under 10 fps during combat. When at medium settings, as you may expect, the game is even less playable at around 5fps.

Thanks everyone, hope we can find a fix!

Anyone? Bueller?

Wish I could help you buddy. Good luck

Than its not FPS if its internet related. Unless your streaming from an off-site location like OnLive or something. Reformatting typically helps things. Honestly my friend who was playing LoL was having FPS issues but that was cause for some reason he kept playing videos (for the songs) in the background. So don't know what to say man.

I created a shortcut to a program (on Windows 7). I would like to open that shortcut through the command prompt but it doesn't work when I type the name of the shortcut. I added the directory to the path variable.

The reason for the shortcut is that I want to open that program with the same command line options every time but I'm too lazy to type them. The command line options can be added to the property of the shortcut.

What does "doesn't work" mean? Does the shortcut work when you doubleclick it? I just checked it myself and it works that way.

My router keeps needed to be reset after an hour or so of use.

It is a Linksys WRT54g. Version 5. I factory resetted it and firmware updated it to see if that fixes the problem and it has not. I only have 3 things connected to it wirelessly. Ps3,Moto x, laptop.

Is it dying on me or is it a temporary problem that will sort itself out in a couple of days?

Does anyone know of a good Microsoft Project Viewer (Viewing is important, other features are good too) which is free? I searched a few hours with Google, but only found MPP Viewer (which... works, but looks very bad) and LiveProjectViewer (which excludes any features other than viewing).

Would really appreciate help with this, trial version aren't an option. :/

Does it happen with wired devices as well?

Has anyone noticed a large number of viewers on Gaf? esp Gaming side.. Currently (43361 Viewing). was 50k earlier.

When I'm bored, and on a toilet... I usually look at the numbers. Last week it was like an average of like 4k-7k... OT would have like 2k.

I looked in Gaming, and I can't see any large/huge threads going on. Even suffered some downtime.

Is the PS4's breaking down it? This was before the Twitch of the Sony Head guy too. I noticed yesterday.

edit;

Ah I see. Didn't know it was tomorrow.

Well, the PS4 does come out in a few hours... I think it's largely just general hype, but probably a bit of a boost from more specific stuff like that moron trying to fix his console.

If I'm calling a US cell phone number from Gmail in Canada, will it bill the recipient for long distance? I know calls are free between US and Canada from computer to computer but I've never tried calling a landline or cell.

Good evening..I have two computer related questions.

First is..

is there any way I can check if my laptop is able to send an audio signal over DVI?Apparently some graphic cards are able to do that. Before I spend 8 bucks on a new DVI cable I'd like to know that first.

Second is a rather odd problem.

Since a few days there seems to be a problem with some icons see pic below:

What's really odd is that when I keep hitting F5 I can see the icons like they should be displayed. The fuck is going on? Any help is appreciated!

I sprinkled baking soda all over the carpet in my room, then I vacuumed all of it several hours later. My problem is that the entire room smells like baking soda and that makes it impossible for me to do anything in that room or sleep in that room, how do I get rid of the baking soda smell?

I need to find a news story with rhythm or alliteration for class but I'm having trouble finding one. Anyone know of a site to find such a thing?

1. I was inclined to say audio over DVI was impossible since DVI was, as far as I knew, video only. But doing some quick research shows that it's possible to use a DVI cable alongside with a DVI to HDMI converter to extract both audio and video. But it seems this isn't true in all cases, it's like your laptop/desktop/whatever has to support it in the first place. That's about where I got lazy with my research :P But as far as I know, if you plan to solely use a DVI cable, then no, it is not possible to transfer audio. Might want to drop by the PC thread in gaming and ask them. I think there's a similar computer support thread somewhere in OT but I don't think it's nearly as active as the PC thread in gaming.

2. Give this a shot; it rebuilds your icon cache. Happens to me every once and a while and this always fixes it.

Why do so many people misspell "turret" as "turrent"? This has always bugged me and I was reminded of it just now reading a thread here where someone spelled it that way. I've never heard turret pronounced with anything close to an "n" sound and it's not that the keys are by each other on the keyboard. Yet somehow "turrent" always shows up everywhere.

Internet generation is more familiar with utturrent then gun turrets,

I have a PC headset that has two jacks that plug into my PC -- a mic jack and an audio jack, both 3.5mm. What do I need to convert this into a single 3.5mm jack that does both? Thanks.

How is there able to be so many full length movies, TV shows, and music albums all over YouTube without getting taken down?

Maybe one of these? I used to use something like this with a Zalman mic on PS3.

Hey, I have a Windows 7 question.

With my previous TV, I was able to connect to my laptop via HDMI such that changing the input automatically cut the feed to my laptop, and display it on my TV (with the TV's sound). Changing channels or input immediately flipped it back to my laptop screen.

Well, I have the same laptop but I have a new TV, 1080p this time instead of 720p.

The problem is that I can't figure out what I was doing to make this happen in the first place.

I can manage to display both screens, extend my monitor, or make one or the other blank at all times.

I cannot however make it switch to them seamlessly like I had it before.

Can someone help me?

Am I supposed to rinse my mouth of the tooth paste with water, or do I just spit out the tooth paste? My friends just hasn't been rinsing his mouth...
