So I usually use my work's Wifi on my smartphone, just earlier I needed to use my mobile Chrome on my smartphone to browse GAF on my break etc.

I forgot that I had a pr0n page open from last night, (quite the explicit one too) when I launched Mobile Chrome, it went straight to the video with it's very lewd name, but it actually didn't go anywhere and it automatically blocked it. "This site is blocked" (Work naturally
blocks pr0n sites)

So here's my paranoia, can anyone (IT) find out that I made an "attempt" to open a pr0n page? Or I shouldn't worry about anything here? I don't want my management to think that I was trying to open a Pr0n page at work...Can they track it to my phone?

Please Advise!

Okay Japan GAF, my friend just came back from Japan and she brought me some weird Kit-Kat varieties I'd never seen before and I have no idea what they are:

Anyone? I'm think they might be green tea and Cherry-Sakura something, but I'm secretly hoping it's Wasabi and Alfalfa or something :P

First is matcha, the bitter green tea (抹茶). But for a Kit-Kat they won't be very bitter.

Second is sakura matcha(桜抹茶).

my internet hates me or my computer hates me. One or the other.

OK my issue is a stupid one, because I have looked online and even called my ISP to deal with it and they are no help.

My internet has decided that it will only connect to some sites. I can go to Yahoo, but I can't do a websearch. I ran all virus software and malware software and no problems came up. I cant update my windows files because it will just hang and stop downloading because it wont connect.

But I can go to youtube and watch videos no problem. I reset my router, reset my modem, called my ISP to have them reset stuff on their end and help me out. Nothing has helped. Am I screwed here? I have reformatted my computer to stock to see if that would help and nothing changed. I need help to the highest degree and honestly, out of ideas.

EDIT: and to add, the same thing happens if Im using wifi through my phone. I can go to youtube on it, but cant search. But if I set it to 4g, it will search no problem and give results.

I'm using Safari 7.0 on Mavericks. I just switched to it from Chrome after reading it uses a lot less power. I've noticed a quirk that has me a little confused.

If I highlight text and bring up the context menu, I have two choices for "Search with Google". One is right at the top of the context menu and it brings up a google search in the same tab. Near the bottom of the context menu, second from the bottom before "Add to iTunes as a spoken track", is another "Search With Google", this time with a capital W. This opens the google search in a new tab.

The only extension I have is the Reddit Enhancement Suite, but the duplicate search option is there even if I have it disabled.

I'm not complaining at all, in fact I prefer searches to pop up in a new tab so I'm pretty cool with it, it's just weird. I searched for this and all I can find is people complaining that Safari doesn't have a way to do google searches in a new tab from the context menu. I just think it's weird.

I'd try changing your DNS settings to use Google's servers: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I have no idea if that would help, but it's worth a shot.

It might be because there's a Safari "Search with Google" function, and also a system-wide one, judging by the answer on this page: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23532567#23532567

Last night about three hours ago there was a beetle inside the light on the ceiling of my room. I left the light on in an effort to kill it and took a nap in a different room. If I go back in there will it be dead, still alive, or escaped somewhere in my room?

Would a VPN make two separate computers over the Internet appear to be on the same local network. If not how do I do his?

There's a somewhat popular .gif of a balding guy with glasses falling (backwards or crumbling to his knees) while some people are around him. There's also a .gif where this man is squinting and moving his head to each side slowly like "Don't know if I want".

What television comedy is this from?

If I format a 1TB external hard drive to FAT32 (for upgrading my ps3), I know I will lose a lot of space on that hard drive.

Will I be able to get it back when formatting back to NTFS?

I need help from a fellow UK Gaffer.
I have 70+ songs purchased off of the UK singstore from a while back. (I'm in Canada)
I bought a calling card to call customer support, but the number doesn't work when I call it.
They basically need to "unlock" my songs, so I can re-download them on my new system, but they refuse to do it via e-mail.

So if anybody is willing to help, PLEASE PM me.
I think the number is toll free.

I need to print about 400 photos at work - each to a its own page. No problem. But, I've been asked to include their filenames as a caption for each photo. Is this possible?

Google isn't being helpful.

IrfanView can print customizable headnotes and footnotes (File -> Print)

What are the best brand of HDMI cables to buy? Not wanting to spend a great deal, if possible. Need two, new, good ones. In the UK, btw.

Edit: It's for games consoles. Mainly the PS3. Also just a normal 1080p HDTV. Not 3D.

HDMI is a digital signal so it really doesn't matter. Just buy the most popular one from Amazon.

Feeling pretty sheepish about posting here as this is something I've done tons of times before, but I can't get a wireless bridge working on my network no matter what I do. I'm using a WRT54G v3 running DD-WRT Standard (bridge) and an Airport Extreme Pre-N (primary). I've followed every tutorial, chief among them this: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Bridged with no luck. I've tried for hours and just can't get the bridge to see my connection no matter what. Any thoughts? I can get more technical if needed, but figured I'd start simple.

Are relaxation frequency and residence frequency the same thing? I'm ashamed to say I have no freaking idea and I am told both EM and mechanical waves can be affected by it, but the term relaxation frequency is not commonly used in text books....

Not sure if this counts as a stupid question, but I've thinking of getting a new car in the future. The one I have runs well, but is a 1999 Grand Marquis. That means 20 mpg on average.

I was looking online and saw a 2007 Prius going for $8.8K, and has about 111K miles on it. It sounds pretty affordable, and it's over twice as good in terms of mpg, but my major concerns are 1) does that low price mean there's something seriously wrong with it? And 2) will the battery still be good long enough to make the purchase worthwhile? I think I've heard the batteries can last over 200K miles, and as of right now I probably drive 7K miles a year at the very most. I'd probably have another car before I even hit the 200K mark.

Where can I buy Desobry Tins in person? I can't seem to find any place that sells them. I could order online but I don't want to pay for shipping.

The TV in my room is fairly old (I don't know exactly how old, but it's been in my room as far as I can remember and my dad vaguely remembers it being there when he used that room before I was born, so it's probably from somewhere around the early 1990s)

This morning when I woke up and turned it on, instead of getting a picture and sound, the screen didn't turn on and I just heard loud popping noises coming from it. Obviously I turned the set off, unplugged it, waited a minute, plugged it back in, and tried again. But the same thing happened.

So is my old TV finally dead for good?

GAF i'm starting a local business (Chile), and i'm in dire need of buying products in the UK sold at Tesco and Argos (Kids toys and the like), since those stores won't ship my products all the way to my little far away country, what else can i do?

Thanks in advance

Hey, everyone!

I wanted to ask a rather brief question on any possible materials that are up-to-date with technology regarding books on music software and home recording studio setups that are reasonably cheap. Mind sharing some links with me, and are they very reliable sources?

I thank you all in advance. :)

Why on my phone I put music on it..like thirty songs all from same source. Soundtrack from a game I bought. Yet my phone can only play three of the songs.

***For some reason it split the songs up into their own albums.

You need to figure out the distributor who sells to those stores. Rebuying from another store just increases your costs anyway.

Open the files in some tagging software like Mp3tag. Make sure that all songs have the same information in the field that you usually use the most to differentiate the songs (i use artist all the time, so i check that and similar fields). Some soundtracks are very anal about credits and stuff, and sometimes an insignificant difference in some useless field can totally fuck up most music libraries.

why do I see some people on gaf type something then put .gif or .jpg at the end? Why don't they just put the actual gif or jpg.?

because images take up space on a page and take time to find and link or upload. its easier to say airplanesunset.jpeg than find the image, most people who have been on gaf a while know what they mean, theres no need for an image.

I was watching Amadeus the other day, and got to thinking about large decorative wigs that are used in that movie, and I assume in theater productions. How much did they weight, and how did someone manage to balance such a big thing on their head?

Thanks! But I was too lazy..made them all into a playlist lol!

Also anyway to combine two internet connections into one? I know why but I just want to heh!

Talking about Lan and Wifi to one machine.

I don't know how much they weighed, but Bill Bryson had some interesting facts on old-time wigs in his book At Home:

http://www.readersdigest.com.au/wigs-for-for-all-occasions

Women, meanwhile, took wig-wearing literally to another level – building their hair up on a wire scaffold known as a palisade or commode. By mixing greased wool and horsehair with their own hair, they could attain truly monumental heights. Female wigs sometimes rose as much as 75cm, making the average wearer roughly 2.2m tall. When travelling to engagements they often had to sit on the floor of their carriages or ride with their heads out the windows. At least two fatalities were attributed to women’s hair catching fire after brushing against chandeliers.

Because of the amount of work involved, it was not uncommon for some women to leave their hair untouched for months on end, except to add a little paste from time to time to keep everything cemented in place. Many slept with their necks on special wooden blocks to keep their hairstyles elevated and undisturbed. One result of failing to wash was that their hair often swarmed with insects, particularly weevils. One woman reportedly miscarried when she discovered that mice were nesting in her upper decks.

The heyday of the towering hairstyles for women was the 1790s. Generally women’s wigs were festooned with ribbons and feathers, but sometimes with even more elaborate devices. John Woodforde, in The History of Vanity, mentions a woman who had a model ship, compete with sails and cannon, riding the waves of her headwear, as if protecting it from invasion.
