But that doesn't correlate to what it says, because it says how many people are online, say five for example, but there will be no full circles at all.
 
Android q. Is there any way to move the address bar to the bottom of the acreen in my web browser? its annoying reaching to the top when my hand is always near the bottom.
 
Where's a good free place to upload pics to post here on Gaf? I used to use tinypic but apparently that's no longer an option.
 
I am intrigued about something but don't know how to learn more about it :/. My Googling has proven pretty fruitless so I thought I would ask in here :).

Essentially I am interested in the custom in ye olden times of wrapping things in cloth or animal skin. In lots of period movies or television programmes over the years I have seen characters unwrap an item from a piece of cloth or animal skin. Often it was something valuable or something they wished to protect from the elements.

So I am curious about the history of this but don't know where to start looking. Any ideas?
 
HD disk C has no memory left, utorrent saves it there.

Where is the setting to have utorrent save to another hard drive?
 
Why is Google Chrome doing this? Some videos are normal, but some are green'd out like this:

I had that happen to me the last time I updated my graphics card driver on my laptop. I don't know if that has anything to do with what happened to you, but I always have to refresh the page to fix it. No idea on how to actually fix it though, but I hope someone can help you out. : (
 
How exactly do certain types of spam work?

On Skype I just got this random message: "Hi! I was browsin ppl near me and i hit your page, and you seemed cool! ;)"

On LinkedIn I'll get connection requests from people that are obviously not real. Happens on Facebook too.

What exactly is the point of this type of spam? Are they phishing bots? What's the financial incentive behind amassing LinkedIn connections?
 
a long time ago, someone posted a gif here on neogaf. it showed an a buff guy taking off his glasses (or sunglasses?), then the gif zooms in on the guys face as he repeats said actions. in both instances he maintains some kind of wierd (assuming trying to look tough) face. this was a drawn animation iirc.... and it was from a music video... cant recall details at all.

anyone know wut im talking about? (lookin @ detective gaf for help).

I've never had a problem with two iPods... sounds like a problem with your Nano, not iTunes. :/

Hm, thanks Cyan. It was fine yesterday :/. I'll restart my pc and see if that fixes it,thanks :).

EDIT - that did the trick. Hurrar!

Well it accepts my Nano now. I'll have to wait until I recharge my Shuffle to see if that then borks the Nano.

EDIT - and today they are co-habiting quite happily in iTunes. Peace is restored! :)
 
Can a mod really change your username like it says in the FAQ/guidelines? I really, really need a username change but I'm too intimidated to approach a mod about it.
 
When should you go for a general check up at the doctors? Only when you think something is wrong?

Before I send this email I thought I should get some input because now I'm having some doubts.

Some people from human resources are coming into my school soon to interview and a lot of people are applying for a small number of jobs. I want to set myself apart and we've been harassed to send thank you letters after the interviews along with some other things to make ourselves look professional, which is how most people are set apart through the things they do after the interview. I was considering sending a thank you email for having the HR person come to the school, because they are out of state, and thought it would be a pleasant way to show interest as well as gratitude for their travel. I don't want to seem desperate but the more I think about it, it may be desperate. Any advice?
I do really want this job but don't want to come across too strong. Any other way to set myself apart?

Are you saying you want to send them a pre-thank you note? Yeah, that just seems weird. I'd say don't do it.

Well you can't use gmail but you can use Comcast. Now Comcast sucks and if you cancel, no longer can you access that account. Can't change it to anything else. So if I forget password I am screwed. Unless I continually use my phone to browse gaf.

Also, if you have AT&T as your ISP you're screwed because GAF doesn't accept AT&T email addresses.

A paid email address, i used my college email, but you can use work ones too, and they dont let hotmails and free email accounts because they dont want trolls getting in, and that makes perfect fucking sense if you ask me. i love GAF because of the strict moderation, its why people prefer it to other forums, because people realise how exclusive it is to get an account, they watch their tongue.

I use Google apps with my own domain name, so it's gmail but GAF can't tell. Alternatively, if you're an iPhone user you could tee up a me.com address.

Other than that you'd need to pay for a mailbox from someone like Godaddy, I guess.

Short version: because gravity doesn't involve masses pulling on each other, as we thought under Newtonian mechanics, but space-time curving. Photons travel in straight lines, and when space-time is curved by gravity, so is the straight line they'll follow.

AT&T is a paid email address for a lot of people.

I see more people banned on this site than any other, so the strict email policy doesn't seem to work. People whose ISP emails are accepted can still make a bunch of troll accounts since they can have multiple email addresses.
 
I am allergic to cats. If I eat a bowl full of cat hair or cat dander or something, would I have a similar reaction to someone who's allergic to peanuts eating a peanut?
 
My family just switched from TWC to Dish network, but my internet is still TWC. Well, ever since the Dish was installed, my internet is running very shitty. Random disconnects, youtube videos stop buffering, can't watch video streams, and just bad ping/performance. Is there some way that the Dish equipment may be interfering with my internet or is it more likely that switching from TWC somehow screwed up my internet?

I'm planning on contacting TWC, but before I jump through their hoops I thought I'd see if anyone here knew what it might be.

No. Cat allergy is similar to hay fever, with similar low level symptoms in the eyes, nose and throat.

While both nut and cat allergy trigger the body's production of histamine which lead to typical allergic reactions, nut allergies can also lead to very serious additional symptoms, even potentially lethal anaphylactic shock.

Exactly my point, that's GOOD, would you rather have a forum full of dickheads and trolls, or a lot of bannings?

it can take months to get accounts approved so you dont get that many(took me 5), i mean i for one have NEVER seen a single account used just for trolling on here, maybe im lucky..or maybe there is nobody with enough time on their hands to waste..

Firstly - LOL.

Secondly - No, SPE got it, i have both hayfever and an allergy to cats, they both suck but allergies to peanuts or e.g beestings are far more serious and can kill you :D If you're having a shit time with allergies i take Citerizine Hydrochloride if that helps..
