I know no one here give a damn about this, but I'm just reporting this episode full of good mecha-porn! Pretty much a whole episode was only about it.
If you need some of it or hurting your eyes from watching Muv-Luv : TE, you can check this episode. Even if you not watching any of episode before. Don't even give a damn about the story! (No explanation needed)

First look at what a Uftoable F/SN might look like (F/SN Vita opening animation): http://www.ufotable.com/slideimages/sn.jpg

uDBj8.jpg

Already miles better than what Deen doing.

I just hope they get someone to rewrite the whole thing.

You guys will like Heaven's Feel, just rewrite the fight
but one
because most of them are shit (like most fight in F/SN and maybe Zero too, but its already massive improvement than uninspiring shit in Stay Night)

Sword of the Stranger - Happy 5th Anniversary!

I watched the blu-ray again to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the movie this month, and it's every bit as good as I remembered. Such a fantastic film on all levels, and a really stunning debut by a first time director. It's sad, but Masahiro Ando probably peaked way too early, and I doubt he can ever surpass this in the rest of this career. I'll like to be proven wrong, but the staff and subject matter he gathered for this seems so special and once-in-a-lifetime that I really can't see him managing it again.

There's so much that is good about the movie, from the designs, the simplicity and smartness of the script, the music, the pace, etc. Every scene feels deliberated constructed to be part of a larger flow, to either create context, to foreshadow, to inform, or to excite. The entire move builds up into a spectacular climax which is chaotic but so well directed that the audience is never lost. It is incredibly rare for movies to be able to nail the sense of satisfaction such that a film starts with a promising and exciting introdcution, and proceed to build up the rest of the film to a climax which surpasses anything in the rest of the movie and is yet something which is foreshadowed and expected by the audience.

Sword of the Stranger is probably the best action animation feature every made, and five years after the fact it hasn't gotten any more dated nor has it lost any of the excitement and emotion which made it such a joy to watch the very first time. Nothing since then has remotely approached this level of adrenaline and emotional highs. In fact, as time passes, and other movies come and go, this movie only gets better with age, just like good fine wine.

10/10

Woo, Sword of the Stranger!

I just wanted to give this a repost.

Yeah but it'll probably take a few years. It's clearly not going into production right now, especially since they're going to be working on a new KnK movie first. That would take up a good part of 2013 probably, if not longer. After that, the usual pre-production -> airing period for TV anime is at least a year.

I think they'll probably do F/SN either as a complete remake, or Heaven's Feel, but it won't air until late 2014 at the earliest.

They would do a mix. It's kinda impossible to just isolate one route and they could easily wrap up Saber's development and other characters from FZ. The focus would be Heaven's Feel as it has the most to do with Emiya in a way but I pray to god we get some of the fucking amazing UBW arc fights in there. Have Urobuchi do a rewrite combining all three arcs and I will literally pull down my pants and fap. No exaggeration.

It's almost certainly coming, ufotable is interested(they implied as much at the AX panel) but I'm guessing there are contractual and licensing issues being sorted out. TM likes money and aren't afraid of whoring their franchises out so the only limitation I can see is some hurt feelings on the part of DEEN. DEEN also might hold some rights to FSN animation in general and aren't letting go.

I can't always get down with duckroll's BONES worship -- their batting average for original productions is decidedly below par -- but this time he's completely right. This is a fantastic, bloody action movie, excellently paced and gorgeously animated. It's not the most original story, not by a long shot, but it still hits all the right notes. It's a great time, every time. Bandai Entertainment USA is dead, so buy it while it's still easily available!

...Man, it's really been five years since this movie came out? God, I feel old.

Out of all the stuff that ufotable is doing with TYPE-MOON, the most interesting one for me is still Girl's Work. The writer for that is a legitimately good, but more importantly, he's as batshit crazy as Gen Urobuchi is completely depressing. At a first glance it looks like a normal slice of life but that man has never written anything normal in his life.

I'm a bit sad that there's been nothing said about that, but I'm still excited for it still.

Amazing. The chemistry of the cast was top notch. The pace was brisk but good.

And now we know why the school is so fucking rich. Look at that principal.

1% motherfuckers.

Sawa at the maternity ward was so adorable :)

Was a bit disappointed with the lack of cg piano hands after Slope, but the car reflections were pretty good.

I still think something is wrong with MC's face. Like someone not too good with sliders of your 'anime face creator' gave it a shot. Something is just... idk.

Hyouka Episode 11.5 - Terrible UStream Edition

qZrbS.jpg

This was really wretched. It was just... bad. First of all, it's a crime to stream something like Hyouka on UStream in super low resolution and with a bitrate so bad I can count the macroblocks. The contrast was also totally off making everything look washed out and ugly. Horrible. The worst part was probably the ad text they overlaid on the entire episode during the stream. Gross!

But that's not where the problems end. The episode itself was kinda bad. There's a lot of mostly pointless fanservice (which is extra pointless when the episode looks so bad), and the story was typical boring Hyouka filler. I almost fell asleep twice, and by the end of the episode I was mostly blind and had a splitting headache. Terrible.

Hyouka Episode 12

But this episode brought me back to life. It restored my sight. Cured all my illnesses. The glorious bright light of Kyoto Animation shined down from the sky, as the heavens parted, and a choir of angels heralded the coming of the savior of the Summer anime season. What an amazing episode. Stuff like this is why Kyoto Animation exists. The only reason. Other than Fumoffu that is.

Not only are there tons of awesome designs all over the episode, ranging from characters, to costumes, to backgrounds, but the entire episode was pure fun. The jokes were funny, the little events were entertaining, and it was all just so pretty. Watching Chitanda getting lost in the festival like a hamster in a maze is why this series was made. Pure unadulterated joy. This arc looks like it will be the best one yet by a country mile. The only mystery in this episode is why they didn't do this SOONER! :D

i haven't enjoyed a talking anime since zetsubo sensei & setokai no ichizon...
Cast was very likable .. not ground breaking show but it's very nice to have on the side.

So many japaneses puns however ..

I don't like this idea even Gen the one that doing it :/
who give a shit about Saber anyway! We get Kirei and most of foreshadowing at F/Z in HF. a little tweak would be nice tho. HF BIG SPOILER
although Gil lame as hell in this LOL

AKB0048 Episode 10

I'm only posting this to note that I didn't skip an episode. I have no interest in actually commenting on the episode other than to say I feel if I say more I might be incriminated in future for various crimes. So yeah, whatever.

AKB0048 Episode 11

Finally the idol trainees return to Ranka-Star. The series is coming full circle, as the main characters have to deal with the problems and the world they left behind. If that sounds exciting and promising, then I've done a better job selling the episode than Satelight did of making it. Instead it looks like we're going to be heading towards a boring and predictable sort of climax where
they will help fight and liberate their home planet from the Entertainment Ban once and for all, and that will be the end for this season.

It looks likely that most of the show's deeper "mysteries" and the interesting stuff with huge troll potential are probably being left for the other 13 episodes in the probable second season. I hope something crazy happens in the last two episodes, but it doesn't look like that's going to be the case.

They setup Saber's development pretty well for FSN and could really carry it through FSN. I also want to see the clash of Shirou and Archer's ideals (best scene in the entire VN) although I'm not sure how to reconcile that with HF. HF really though is a natural continuation of Zero so a rewrite to bring more of an edge to Shirou's personality would do wonders.

The real "fan service" episode. Of course, that means I wouldn't qualify.

In this episode, Oreki got told,
in a very positive manner
by Chitanda.

Also,
Ice cream
is brought into play with the episode's mystery. The plot thickens!

Okay, not really. It was still dull as ever. I don't like Chitanda and don't care for an episode about her in swimming attire. lol

After watching 12 episodes of Hyouka I'm forced to assume you've developed some form of Stockholm syndrome and it's warped your mind.

Jexhius, I think this series has to go up a little on your fan-service sliding scale now.

Thank you, duckroll. Now I know that I can just invest my time elsewhere and drop the series.

Star Blazers 1-2

Surprisingly watchable for something from the 70s, even if the dialogue is comically flat sometimes.

Feels like I'm watching history...

So you're going back and watching the dub rather than the original Japanese version? Interesting. Good luck not getting bored to death.

I'm glad we're bros on this. Unfortunately the next series from the guys who brought us Sword of the Stranger will likely tear us apart again. At least, I hope it tears us apart, because the alternative is that I don't like it either, which would really suck! :(

Someone dropping yuruyuri?

sigh.

People have done worse things -

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita 2

My opinion on this show hasn't really changed from last week. It still feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be. It's too subdued and dark to be an effective comedy and too light-hearted to be something effectively dark.

I did find the translation glasses and the adjusting amusing, but that's about it. Don't think I'll be watching any more.

This is just too logical of a move!

Huh, I had no idea Danny Choo sold Culture Japan to Crunchyroll.

At the very least, you can watch the JC Staff studio tour episode without having to jump through hopes now:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/culture-japan/episode-9-how-anime-is-made-at-jc-staff-589806

(Or go back to season 1 when he does the fairly awkward tours of Japanese high schools, just in case you want to get your full weeaboo on!)

http://www.crunchyroll.com/culture-japan/episode-6-ita-g-festival-2010-574036
That one has a particularly funny/awkward moment with a guy who put Heartcatch Precure itasha all over his car... and Choo springs some of the actresses from Precure on him and he doesn't know how to respond. lol

Amazing.

I don't know jack about American history, but I almost wish that someone would do this with the American Civil War or Revolutionary War if only because it would horrify people. The look on people's faces as you showed them a drawing of George Washington as a moe girl would be priceless!

That's the problem with Japan - they're far too desensatized to shit like this. It loses that ability to shock and horrify.
The original material is pretty impenetrable without the aid of extreme Koeification!

You forgot to mention the importance of electric-guitars.

The most beautiful and atmospheric school festival in the history of anime. KyoAni really doesn't play around.

Chitanda was created for this episode.

And the ED is amazing!

I'm so happy right now, hahaha.

This turned out to be a rather boring comedy. Now, in all fairness, the show does warn you that's rather a dialouge-heavy affair, but frankly that doesn't bother me. I am, however, bothered when the dialogue isn't very interesting at all.

Dropped.
