Arcana Famiglia 3

That's 2 worthless episodes in a row. It's like they decided to put a filler arc at the very beginning of the show. Don't know why a 1 cour show would do bullshit like this.

Tentatively dropped until the tournament starts (if it ever does).

The Light of El Cantare
Jinrui is LN with random premise that the writer only write shit that crossing in his mind.. You guys thinking too much about it.

Even if this is the case, this doesn't preclude it from being a well-written work with a quality anime adaptation deserving serious discussion.

Okay guys so what's good this season? And by that i mean what anime features loli or nudity this season?

Try episodes of Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Arcana Famiglia.

Wow... just.... Wow....

I wasn't really planning on reading the novels but I might as well now. This is going to drive me up a wall otherwise because that technology would be rendered null and void for decades due to lack of public trust. People wouldn't touch that shit with a thousand yard pole even if the twist is something retarded like nobody died and they only couldn't log back on. It's just such a fundamental misunderstanding of human beings that I'm really curious now to see how they explain any publisher or developer putting money into that hardware.

The LN isn't that bad and it's quite a quick read.

You seem to have your priorities straight. i think you'll fit in well here. :)

As for your question I dunno about this season since I've only watched and enjoyed:

- Sword Art Online
- Ghost NTR
- Binbougami Ga
- Jinrui

Hello AnimeGaf. I've been looking at Neogaf for a little over two and a half years and AnimeGaf for a little over a year and a half now and I decided I'd like to join.

Despite having read the forum for so long I'm still not actually sure how introductions are done but I thought it would be polite if I gave at least a quick "Hello" or "Nice to meet you" instead of just barging in on the thread.

Don't worry if I don't post for awhile at times, you haven't scared me off or anything, I'm probably just trying to catch up on five or six pages of reading as usual. This thread moves so fast!

Also despite having been reading forums for about ten years now I've only been a member of a couple also about ten years ago, which are no longer around, so I apologize in advance if I maybe have some fairly rookie like questions from time to time.

You know, I think I missed something - why did they call her "Mero" in the movie at times? Does she have a nickname that I just didn't notice?

In the Canto-dub at least, they stick to Umi (well, Hoi to be correct) for the entire movie.

Also, the OST got me to look up Sukiyaki and finally find the Japanese version of that song. lol

I haven't seen the movie yet but reading your post about the name "Mero" reminded me that I thought Zeroshiki mentioned something about that when he watched the movie where they would call her by that name without prior mention or something.

Also regarding the song Sukiyaki your talking about "Ue O Muite Arukou" right? That song was actually just used partially in last weeks episode of Hyuoka. It's the song Chitanda pauses to listen to the kids perform when she's wandering the school.

Isn't your statement that a non-otaku viewer wouldn't understand the concept of girls being interested in homoerotica based on the assumption that this is behavior that's somehow only endemic to Japan or even to fujoshi culture? I don't pretend to actually know this sort of thing, but I've always been under the assumption that this kind of interest exists in any halfway-liberalized culture. What percentage of the audience for television stations like Bravo and Logo consists of heterosexual women?

As for the comiket thing, it's a reference, but the episode still goes out of its way to give it a valid in-universe justification.
The yaoi shipments are becoming so voluminous that deliverymen are unable to deliver necessary supplies, and so Y has to create an alternate distribution system that brings the consumers to the product instead of the other way around
. Even the most Joe Sixpack of viewers would simply see the "comiket" event as the logical consequence of the aforementioned shipment dilemma.

I mean, I'm not actively praising the humor in this episode and it was largely inferior to anything found in the first two episodes, but as far as referential humor goes, what was used in this episode is really tame and accessible. I'm disappointed that there was even any need for referential humor in Jinrui, but that's a separate debate from whether or not the humor works.
Well, you first have to acknowledge the fact that this is an anime, so you are already talking to a nerd-only audience.

But even if you take that out of the equation, perhaps you're supposed to take the position of main character and be exasperated at how sad and depraved women are. But you have to be aware of nerd women and the whole slash/BL subculture.

I suppose because I'm not insane, I've never actually asked a non-overtly "in the nerd culture" woman whether or not she has heard of slashfic, let alone fantasize about her two favourite male characters boning each other, but I am going to assume that it's not something that normal people obsess about. I mean, I know that there is fanfic about The Daily Show/Colbert Report and Jon and Stephen having sex, and members of various sports teams having sex, but my assumption is that the average female consumer of The Daily Show or sports don't think of those men in that manner. I also assume the same is true of non-nerd Japan.

To be forward about it, this isn't a discussion about homophobia itself, I just don't believe that an average person understands the idea of wanting to put two male characters/public figures together in what amounts to a gay-porn flick. Nor would they understand someone who would want to do that.

It's like when Gintama makes Hijikata x Gintoki references - they're doing that because the people who watch Gintama are probably nerds of some sort and those people know that there is a large fujyoshi fanbase that ships the two hunky leads together. That's just something an average viewer won't understand.

Because I was talking about it yesterday on IRC, I'll bring up that there is a film called Fujoshi Kanojo, based on a LN/manga about a guy who dates a fujoshi girl. But it's clear that the film is directed to an audience that understands what seme/uke means and where Otome road is and all the nerdy things that are associated with yaoi. Yes, it's a romcom that features two pretty looking Japanese actors making googly eyes at each other, but it's a text that's directed at a particular female audience. That is, while I have no idea what the Japanese equivalent of boxofficemojo is, but I'm going to say that it is safe to assume that film did not do gangbusters.

To bring back The Big Bang Theory again, given the number of nerd references that they do make, and the number of are the "Jewish guy and Indian guy gay for each other?" jokes that they've done over the years, I'm pretty sure they have never explicitly brought up Kirk/Spock or any kind of slashfic. Because that's just something they assume their broad audience won't understand.

Heck, I don't think I've actually seen slashfic mentioned in an American show at all. It's possible that I'm forgetting some obvious example, but even something self-aware like Stargate never made Daniel Jackson/Jack O'Neill slashfic jokes.

I judge whether its well written or not if there is more episode to see, considering eps 1-2 is straight jumping to vol 4 because haruhi-like episode order.

Who knows the "reason humanity has declined" in the rest of stories is about game, light novel itself, et cetera.. this arc is parody about fujoshi for example. Its more funny idea that the author have about "decline of humanity" than hurr durr deep social commentary that I doubt an LN writer give a damn about.

Welcome to animegaf. lol

And you're right! That's the song. Maybe that was what planted the seed in my mind it actually look it up after I heard it again in From Up on Poppy Hill. lol

And you know, if it's just a nickname that she has, I suppose it's a very naturalistic way for them to introduce the character as someone who has a life outside of the story presented in the film. After all, in real life, you're not going to explain a nickname to an imaginary audience every time you meet someone. I'm okay with that if that's what they were doing any way.

Supernatural. Ran with it in a huge way. They had brother incest jokes on the show. They even attended a convention to their show on the show itself.

Ah, that's fair. lol
But it's also a nerd show! (They made an anime out of it after all).

Now that I think about it, I suppose there were also some Angel x Spike jokes at some point, but nothing too overt that jumps out at my anyway.

(Anyway TBBT is the biggest show in America right now - that deals specifically with nerds - and it's not something that has come up there. My point is that I don't think BL/slash is something someone laughing at Sheldon and Penny jokes would understand).

I actually don't even know what irc is. I'm so behind on the internet I had to look up what this "twitter" thing was everyone was talking about like just last year and someone I know asked me if I was on facebook to which I replied "What the heck is facebook?"

I like this guy, he has a Minako avatar.

Thank you so much! It's something I expect Hitokage to zone in on right away. I love Rei as well. Minako x Rei as OTP(I had to look up what that meant) none of this Rei x Ami stuff. lol this is actually really really wierd, I've been reading this thread for so long its like "Wow! I just got quoted by Instro!".

To be honest I'm actually so nervous my hands are actually shacking right now and I can't even see you guys! Like I said I haven't been on a forum for almost ten years. I guess I'll just think of this as my intro. arc and in time I'll be one of the team.

Interesting...
so now that both guys are fully on board, the ending theme/animation changes to include them
. Nice little detail.

Plot comment edit:
So clearly the vice-principal's issues have something to do with her participation in the choir club back when she was a student, and seems like they involve Wakana's mother as well. That's definitely the two of them in this scene from the OP then, though in retrospect I guess that was kind of obvious.

That's too bad. He was probably one of the only posters i knew without an avatar. Also i'm always looking for smut <3

Then come into the IRC where we are constantly spamming exhentai and pixiv links :p (okay, just like 3 of us are... and everyone else is behaving themselves)
