Where did I hear this before?

So, the show about a guy? joining an astronomy club only for it to be filled with what's basically the Haruhi cast. We got girl with large ribbons that bosses Ms. Pink Hair around, strips her over and over, ties her up, basically doujin material. And, there's a quietish girl, so close enough. Oh, there's also vice-president that goes with the flow.

Besides that, I wonder why its another show about a club that's in danger of being forced of closed. Have this season struck from hidden high school niche.

Sure, they read BL. Must be fun.

This episode was also basically a big Saint Seiya parody from the porn to the entrance exam for the guy?.

And then, this episode gives up on any real plot and basically runs with the Saint Seiya parodies.

Overall, this was a fun first episode. While, it kinda lacks any real background music that's impacts a scene, the characters are fun and its fun to see where this will go.

Also, it does the unthinkable and basically uses part of a music video for the ED.

8 / 10 for the only real criticism was that the three girls really didnt do anything memorable and kind of took away lots of attention away from Rick (really they didnt let him go to the lake with them, what even?).

Haha yes I laughed at that, too.
He gets called on to taxi them to the lake but isn't allowed any R&R himself--he has to immediately return to the bakery and continue his work as a bread slave.

Shinji was someone one could relate too and approached the situation as I imagine most people would. He was rather courageous in events. He was rather good. In alot of ways Shu reminded me of him, but was a bit of an improved version. I like these type of protagonists.

Most of those are about where they should be, though it's quite unfortunate of course to see Tasogare do so poorly. That's the only one really out of place though. (Well, Nyaruko might be a bit high, but I can see why it's up there.)

I don't know, I think there were one or two that were at least a little bit cool (Ed from FMA maybe?)... it is uncommon, though, certainly.

I'll never escape the evergrowing infinite backlog but if I keep getting stuff like this I'll be fine with it. What a godly OP and soundtrack. Thanks to Geneijin for pointing out to me it was Masamichi Amano. It was neat to hit up wikipedia and see that more than one show that had an OST I was fond of was due to him.

Really liking the character designs too.

I'd had a bit of interest in this one for a while, but yeah, it's really good! I'll be watching more of it for sure. It's one of those shojo sports shows that gets the drama versus action balance right, like Taisho Baseball Girls or the first season of Aim for the Ace or something. Of course shojo sports can go wrong -- just look at that Aim for the Ace movie, or presumably the second season that it's adapted from -- but this is most certainly not that. Princess Nine's good stuff.

This show is basically like Taishou Baseball Girls in that it's a bunch of ragtag girls join up to play baseball and show men that they can play just as good as the boys can right?

Yes, and if you liked that show at all, watch Princess Nine for sure. It's great, it really is.

Bluray release is odd, no fog of war, yet no nipples or anything. Watching mannequins talk about mahjong is quite odd.

There are ... certain hints of things, though. But yeah, it's still a bit censored. I'm fine with that.

Anyhow, been a fascinating ride of yuri, love, drama, (some mahjong), and more yuri. Good stuff.

Kinda dull SoL eps revolving around the worst girl lady taco. Has good moments though.

Yuki may be worst of the Kiyosumi five, but she's not all bad... the tacos thing is amusing, as are some (but only some!) of her jokes.

Yeah, the Saki picture dramas are basically pure, undistilled fanservice (yuri fanservice in pretty much all of them, plus costumes, bath scenes, etc), mixed with cuteness (in 6 particularly).

Haiyoru! Nyaruani

Eight flash animated shorts that were released from 2009-2010, it's not that good and feels like a "Just for fans" sort of thing. It's really cheap too and ends up rather ugly and barely animated. Mahiro didn't demonstrate nearly enough outrage either. For whatever reason, Crunchyroll doesn't have the first episode included in their listing either so their first episode is actually episode two. Maybe because it's mostly a commercial for the light novels.

Yeah, that one was kind of odd... not the best thing in the franchise for sure, but some of the shorts were amusing, I guess.

The first list is the better overall, but a few of those were quite good as well certainly. But yes, looking at those lists does remind one that anime, at that point, did have more great shows... though of course there are still good animes out there. Of this year's stuff, I'd put Bodacious Space Pirates at least in the second of those lists for sure... (Oh, and of this second list, I'd most agree with The Animatrix, FMA, and RahXephon. Also, Kanon 2002 would also be on my best-of-2002 list, of course, though I imagine just about no one else here would do the same. But it's definitely on mine.)

It's much better, I think, but the ninja action remains the draw. Cut material fleshes out the character, setting, and story better though.

That's not even the good part of the post. Or even the thread, later on that guy puts Japan on blast and it's ugly.

The reality is the anime industry is suffering because it's clear Japan has no clue how exporting media works. It's why widespread piracy of American media (movies and TV and music) hardly means shit to Hollywood outside of exaggerated MPAA/RIAA crying, because the Americans figured out how to monetize media in every country on Earth decades ago. These days American media profits are something like 40% domestic market and 60% foreign markets for most movie studios. The American media domestic market is the largest single market in the world too. That's huge for the American media industry, not only in terms of making money but also exporting American culture overseas which benefits the country as a whole.

I don't understand why it's so hard for Japan to figure out how to monetize media outside of the domestic market. Why hasn't Animax launched in North America after nearly a decade? Why couldn't Japan figure out Internet streaming until after Crunchyroll appeared originally distributing illegal fansubs? Why is Japan so afraid of cannibalizing domestic sales that they can't release DVD/BD in worldwide markets day-and-date with Japan? Even at ridiculous JP prices, there's a market for day-and-date DVD/BD, just look at KnK and F/Z. Even the most trivial American movie or album can be purchased in almost any country on Earth that can access the Internet. Why can't you buy just about any anime you want via Internet download? It's not as if it's not translated, fansubbers have been diligently subbing almost everything for decades now. The fansubbing culture wouldn't even exist if Japan had started exporting the media from the very beginning. Nobody needs to fansub an American movie, it's available legally in your country with subtitles and often dubbed right now and it was released roughly the same day (give or take a few weeks) as everywhere else in the world at once. It just doesn't make sense how self-defeating the anime industry is in terms of figuring out how to make money.

Good points indeed. The main reason has to be that it's just one more of those things about how insular Japan still is in many ways, though. I mean, you're right, they obviously just don't care as much as they should about any overseas sales or viewing. It is kind of odd, though, and you're right, there are much better models out there, and it's too bad they won't use them.

I think it has a lot to do with Japan's excessively conservative and risk-averse business culture. It's the same reason for the horrible working conditions.

Okay, way later than I was supposed to be on this.

Anyways, to get it out of the way, the beginning half of this episode had a parade's worth of crotch and backside shots! The conversational body movement in the first half was pretty lively (if anything, a bit unnatural) and I enjoyed looking at it. It settles down later on, but the main cast is moderately entertaining in their interactions. While it's not making me laugh, I'm having a good experience with the characters.

I hope more "interesting" figures are yet to be displayed come next week.

Fun, fun episode, once again. While it wasn't as crazy for the most part til the dream world kicked in, it was still fun and nice to see Henriette take care of Milky Holmes and then vice-verses.

The other villains were just as fun and then the suddenly trip to Momotarou land was awesome as well. Ah yes, there was boob missiles. This show has everything.
