Wonzo was onto something when he pointed out how 80's this was. While the punk rock music sequences were pretty damn 80's, I still think Cipher is more 80's as a whole. Mainly because that was ALL 80's music sequences.

Pretty good episode though it felt a bit disjointed in several parts. With all the time-skipping going on I can already hear the LN purists yelling "Rushed!" but I do think it drove the whole theme of
death in the game world
well enough. Overall, it was a pretty sad episode but there was quite a bit of character development for Kirito and I'm happy to see Klein back.

The show continues to convey the MMO mechanics very well as seen with the menus/item switching and the
chest trap room
hidden in the dungeon. I'm still digging the show and weirdly enough I'm really liking the OP a lot lately. Still looking forward to more of this.

Also,
MMO Santa
looked pretty lame. :(

I haven't watched episode 3 but in the LN version of SAO Kirito
blames himself because he could've told them that this dungeon had traps but by doing so he'd be revealing his true level and identity. In order to avoid that he didn't say anything and all of them died.

Damn, I really do need to check out Cipher then just to see how 80's it is.

Short 3 episode OVA with a running time of 2 minutes each, it's just super robot porn
Go Nagai stuff abounds as Aphrodite A and Mazinger Z get worked by the Mycene Empire. Things escalate when a team comprised of stuff like Great Mazinger, Getter Robo G. and Koutetsu Jeeg among others show up. Things head south after that and
Shin Getter and Grendizer
show up. Things go even further south and it ends with
Mazinkaiser time
! Aw yeah.

As tends to always be the case whenever
time travel
is involved this has become an even more convoluted mess of a plot than it was before. Naru, Truth and Elena are all terrible characters and all this cryptic wink-nudge bullshit does absolutely nothing for me.

At least the music's still great.

Hi there, I'm new to AnimeGAF and before I make any mistakes right off the bat, I was wondering what the rule for spoilers is? Looking forward to discussing the good
and bad
shows with everyone!

Moyashimon Returns 03

Bah, that was anticlimactic!
Oikawa is awesome, I hope she hooks up with the lead male after this.

Eureka Seven: AO

I'm trying hard to get into this, and I"m finding it difficult. I loved the original so much, and I can't help but nitpick and compare the two.

If you have to ask yourself if something is spoilertag worthy then chances are it probably is. Better safe than sorry and all that.

Fantastic show. While they managed to randomly squeeze a 3rd (and rather important) arc in 3-4 episodes it was still enjoyable. The story was very interesting but what really stood out for me were the characters. From the initial episodes I developed a strong hatred for Jessie Gartland. She was determined, fierce, and all around bitch to Akari when she was first introduced. It's not until you have reached the middle of the series that you're given an episode dedicated to her which provided her backstory. Damn it did it change my impression of her. She went through some rough times and seeing the events that made her into the woman she is now made me respect her so much. Kris Kristopher is definitely my favorite girl from the show. Falling in love with Akari at first sight, she was the perfect prince-type with her honest and heartfelt confessions. Her childish pouting fits whenever she felt her place in Akari's heart was threatened were so adorable. While this love was incredibly one-sided for most of the show, near its closing Akari returns these feelings. And speaking of Akari, I loved her character development. I was convinced she was cursed to be the meek, unconfident girl throughout the entire show, but sure enough she found her inner strength and managed to pull off feats that the rest of team, including herself, thought impossible. This show has a lot of drama, crying, and a few unfunny characters, but overall it was a great experience. Would definitely recommend it for die-hard yuri fans.

Will be watching the OVAs next.

Pretty funny and it's only 5 minutes long.

I was going to post an image but I feared for Cajun's life.

Out of Sight

I might be late to this one, but they were still the best 5 min I've spent all day. A amazingly gorgeous short about a girl looking for her dog and discovering the world around her though her senses. The visual style had a very french look to it, as in, it reminded me of french animation that I had seen in the past. The colors are extremely vibrant and the world that we see though the point of view of the girl is perfectly fantastical. Her sense become real, and we see the manifestations of what she perceives. It is a little sad when you realize what's happening, but that just makes it so much more impactful.

Best thing, it's available on their website: http://evaty.main.jp/oos/e_film.html

Now no one has an excuse not to watch it.

I figured the mysterious hole would lead to the bar but I guess I was wrong. I hope we find out what's up with the collapsed tunnel and the hole soon.
I'm starting to warm upto the art style a bit as it seems to blend better with the more comedic faces.

moe~

I have no idea what this is for, besides the fact that it's official, but it's adorable as hell.

As promised,
Thanks! I'll watch something terrible soon so I can disappoint. :(

Cipher

This shit legitimizes the existence of the AMV. smh Even if
the Footloose segment was awesome
;_; I hate that the show grew on me the longer it went on. EmmanuelMunoz mentioned there was a plot spoiler in the ANN summary and I suppose he's right because the description there implied there was an actual story I never picked up on. What the hell?

Not sure if he mentioned it either but ANN mentions this was voiced in English from the start for authenticity purposes which is sort of neat. I suppose the licensed music makes more sense with that in mind.

I think this is my favorite show this season. The characters seem interesting and the whole
switching bodies and solving their problems
is alright with me.

There is a story buried deep deep deep deep deep deep in there. You just need to read between the dance moves!

And yes, I hated it, and then it grew on me, and then I hated it even more!

Let go of Yuno,dead guys!

Today is the festival and Yuno wants to go to the exhibition, but has to choose between it and time with her friends. An illustration of hers is in the exhibition and she must see how it looks displayed, but she knows she will meet disappointment. The drawing was unfinished and despite positive words from others, Yuno cannot forgive it as the mother of the vision. It's a scene that introduces yet another hurdle of being an artist. "Your harshest critic is yourself."

28o5Y.png

I think it's a pretty nice sketch for what it's worth, Yuno.

Afterwards, the gang thinks about going back to school the next day. I had the same feelings close to break ending, "Same ol', same ol'." And how, Yoshinoya had a concert! She's still as
(Link not very work safe, NSFW, etc) great as always
! Yuno does some reflecting on the advice she received last episode to become something bigger through each hurdle. It'll be nice to see her make some growth from that, especially through being a bit more decisive.

Well, YUNO what they say. There's no way to top off contemplation better than a hot bath scene. Of course Hiro and Sae love checking each other out (NSFW, not very at least)#YuriSketch. The bodies shown for the bath are gingerbread style, not realistic enough for the average man to gain sexual pleasure from.

WiOZT.png

In case anyone is wondering...No, I will not stop posting more Miyako.

The art direction is as simple as usual, but I enjoy seeing these girls interact with one another with the water splashing, horse noise reenactments and all. Also Hiro has her hair going all over the place again. She has one scary head of it! Of course, she still thinks that she's fat. This goes all the way to the third season. You're not fat, Hiro! Stop doing this to yourself! (I don't think she can hear me...)

This episode had a bit of everything! Some Yuno worrywart stuff here, bath scene there, Yoshinoya "actin' a sexy fool" around this area, etc. A dose of wideface all around puts a smile on my face. I wonder where the concluding episodes will lead the girls.

This shot makes Kirito look like a midget (I'm aware he's sitting down).

The episode was fairly predictable (like anything else is new with this show).
The moment he joined a guild, you know there's a giant death flag hanging above them, especially since Kirito has double their level. It wasn't as rushed as episode 2 was, but like in that episode, it's still pretty dumb how Kirito couldn't stop them from going into the trap. All he had to do was say "stop" or "hold it" or anything to get their attention before they enter the room. It's not like there are delays like you would have when typing on a chat window. Either Kirito is a shitty guild leader or the guild members are idiots or it's teh drama plots. I'm going out on a limb here and say it's all of the above.

Thank you, Captain Obvious. Someone kill this guy already.

I explained your spoiler box last page. It makes more sense in the LN than the show.

I'm not sure how
there's a correlation between telling them there are trap dungeons and revealing his true level. Unless you're implying that he's done the dungeon before, but that doesn't say much about his level.

He was a beta tester. He knows the fastest leveling routes. He would have had to reveal his true level to convince them about the traps. Revealing his true level would have also revealed he was a beta tester, which as you saw last episode, is kinda a bad thing to be known as. The anime did a really terrible job of conveying this information, thanks to a combination of timeskips and all around rushing.

This really should have been two episodes. Sword Art Online would have benefited from the chronological order had they decided to flesh it out as an adaption, rather than rushing it like this.

Taichi really is a jobber.
I'm coming to like this series more as it progresses. Wouldn't have thought this would be the case just two episodes ago. The body swap stuff is fun and the character interaction is too (the variety of characters' antics during body swap is good, hopefully it doesn't ever get repetitive and wears out its welcome). The serious moments are still a little awkward I think but at least stuff is happening every episode.

I was thinking if there was to be any triangles it'd involve
Iori, Inaba and Taichi
. If the mock confessions (hah I was wondering when the boys would take advantage of the girls' bodies for stuff like this) in this episode are of any relevance that could still be the case.

I'm still really feeling that preview music. I like that it's a little ambiguous (not that much though) as to who is speaking in whose body given the premise. Is this like the good LN adaptation of the season?

Sword Art Online Episode 3

Wow. The funny thing is, I really do think it was partially Kiritos fault that they died. That room probably spawned creatures based on the person with the highest lvl. No power leveling lower peeps in this bitch!! Just a theory tho. It would be a dick move if the programmer just places higher lvl monsters on lower floors.

LN reader here :
It was overconfidence that lead to their death ..that and the MC lack of leadership skills
Also the worse traps in the entire game are those and the trap worked perfectly ...
i'd argue that if he waasn't overleveled he would had been dead ..

Also the monster doesn't scall according to the levels .. In one instance ( later in the timeline ) , the mc goes way back to a lower dongeon and kills everything without trouble...

Now having said that i'm going to watch this ep to see how good/bad they adapted it .. ( it seems it was good according to the reactions here )

Kirito social skill are bad that's why he is a solo player. Also Beaters are ( at this point ) still an issue when the mortality rate still so high.
As for your wondering it's a drama plot that will serve for further things later ..
In short you are right it's all of the above..

Well some people aren't aware of it enough it seems

It reminds me of the conversations people have about Makoto from Blazblue and calling her a "squirrel girl". Do squirrels have striped tails like that though? She looks kind of more like a chipmunk to me so I always thought of her more as a "Chipmunk Chick".

Technically I think chipmunks are a species of squirrel so both would be correct I guess, I'm just more familiar with squirrels and how they appear like in the most recent episode of Tari Tari.
I'm not really familiar with the relevant taxonomy, but tail size is usually the key distinction in how squirrels and chipmunks are represented in this context.

Didn't they say beta testers have never gotten past floor <insert low number> in the previous episode? How would he know the fastest leveling routes on floors 20+ just because he's a beta tester? Maybe he's just good at the game? Even if he's a beta tester, so what? I'd be ecstatic if there was a guy double my level joining my guild. If Kirito's truly afraid of being judged, why would they need to know his level to be convinced? They show Kirito's a badass. I'm sure they would have believed him if he had told them he solo'd the dungeon before and maybe that they're not badass enough to survive the trap. I'm sorry, but I don't buy it at all.

Yeah, frequently it's like the front of pants, but with a hole instead of a zipper.

Well, with that avatar, I guess I'll believe you as you probably know your tails.

That said, a zipper near hair sounds shitty, buttons would be better. Has Dog Days even showed a piece of clothing with a zipper? I don't believe they have zipper technology.

The school festival is one of my favourite set of chapters in the manga. A very fun blend of the usual antics and :yuno moments. I haven't seen this episode in awhile though. I think they moved stuff around between the festival and the bath parts. I'm surprised you didn't talk about Miya's horse acting. "Why didn't they just use a prop for the horse" "She's really good!?"
