K-On! is only for people who have spent years of their life studying musical theory and history.
What if you started learning to play the guitar because you watched K-ON? Does that count?

Does :chet now stand for sexual harassment too?I know I'm late to the party but: Chet confirmed for no shame.

Saying TLR does the MMO thing better than SAO just because of boobs.
To be honest, I would say that Urobuchi writing an anime is kinda a crapshot usually. He was involved in a few turds in the past after all. But what makes me a lot more hopeful moving forward is that since Madoka he definitely picked up a much stronger following among anime fans, and their expectation of his works seem to have gone up a lot. After Madoka and Fate/Zero, I think he has a certain "brand" which he personally feels the need to upkeep now. Hopefully that means that his upcoming works also reflect this, and he works with more capable production teams instead of the more questionable ones from further back in his history.
So it looks like they published the first staff list for the Mondai-Ji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo anime on the official site:
Series Director: Keizou Kusakawa (Dog Days S1, Campione, everything Nanoha since A's)
Director: Yasutaka Yamamoto (Squid Girl S2)
Series Composition: Noboru Kimura (Nyaruko-san, Amagami SS+)
Character Design: Naomi Ide (Lotte no Omocha)
Animation Production: Diomedea (Squid Girl, Campione)
How long before he works with KyoAni? I hope it happens so pizzaroll is forced to like a Urobuchi production.Urobuchi has certainly moved up from Bee Train and Gonzo.
How long before he works with KyoAni?
It most certainly does.
I need to start learning guitar again BUT LAZY. I can already play piano (poorly) so maybe that should be my next instrument?

It would be fun to have someone to learn with! Though I think trying to do this over the Internet would be kind of tough to pull off. Oh well.
I guess it's the guy from Index that punches.Hey, get it right; those are slaps, not punches. And he hits men too.
How can she be the main character if they spend so much time in Ichiko's head though?Momiji IS the main character. Hell, she's the titular character. She's just sharing the spotlight with Ichiko and now Ranmaru.
Ahhh right, I totally forgot that it was that.Prequel. She's a full adult in Kizu, then gets demoted to loli in Bake, and is back up to teenager by Nise!
Not even Watanabe could convince me otherwise.
Haha, I had a similar line of thinking when Kishi Seiji was announced as the director for Angel Beats after Seto no Hanayome and the good reception for Tentai Senshi Sunred, except I was a lot more blindly optimistic. Well, it isn't completely the same thing, but that's kinda what came to mind reading this.
Sherlock Holmes? The Great Gatsby? How can she be the main character if they spend so much time in Ichiko's head though?
SatoJun get~
If you ride a train, you are not obligated to get off at the destination. At least the first time it arrives. In which case it seems odd to talk about disembarking from hype trains when you only get on the line well after everyone else has already taken their ride.
KyoAni will (further) sell out eventually. It's a matter of when, not if.His scenarios involve too much stuff actually happening for KyoAni to be interested.
Oh, well I'll be.Pizzaroll likes Fate/Zero.
I wasn't really being all that serious.

Good. I like my anime how I like my Star Trek. Boring.

What, that their next anime apparently stars a girl with a medical eyepatch isn't a sign that they've sold out already?KyoAni will (further) sell out eventually. It's a matter of when, not if.
Why would you use that word to begin with... (It's sexist...)Binbougami 7-8
So, I don't know if it's wrong for me to dislike Ichiko because I'm afraid that I'm being sexist (it's probably the first time where I'm not comfortable using "bitch" to even joke about how I feel about her, as I would with characters from Ace wo Nerae or Oniisama e...).
No, I don't think it's sexist at all to dislike Ichiko. I mean, how is she a likable character in any way? She's awful, incredibly selfish, and the basic concept of the series seems to be about how she's wrong but stubborn, and will never accept reality. So no, I don't know that you're actually supposed to like her; if you are, it certainly doesn't work for me either. But I don't think you are. She's not a good person. The show hammers this home over and over and over... it's quite clear she's an unbelievably selfish, not very likeable person who hurts the people around her and only barely cares.I guess because of cosmic, I can't stop thinking of Gintama when thinking about this show, but even though Gintoki is a jerkass at times, he starts from a place that is fundamentally good. Ichiko is presumably coming from the same place, but whereas Gintoki's selfishness is likeable, her selfishness just makes her hate her even more.
I just can't stand her because she is so selfish. I don't care that she has "a past" that justifies her behaviour, the fact that she goes back to the same self-centered state at the end of every episode makes it very hard to find her sympathetic at all. They've emphasized that when shit hits the fan, she'll do the right thing, but the ease of which that she reverts to that "B-word" status is infuriating. I suppose Gintoki goes back to being a lazy, bill-dodging, degenerate reprobate the moment he's done saving the world, but with him I'm fine with that as a "mask" for his true self.
I dunno, maybe I am secretly sexist. But I suppose I should be happy that I can even try to articulate how I feel about watching this show.
I mean... I'm supposed to like Ichiko, right? That's the whole point of this manga/show, isn't it? She's the heroine/protagonist? I'm not supposed to think that she's the most vile, despicable person on the show, am I?
I suppose I should credit the show for making me experience an existential crisis anyway. lol
I should probably try watching this show.Utakoi 8
Speaking of sexism, this was another one of those stories about a woman entering the court in order to break out of her limited life as a woman in old-timey Japan.
While the first one had the woman make the choice to join the court and be more than just a doormat, this one had the woman want to be sheltered, forcing the man to "sacrifice himself" in order to open her up to a bigger world suited to her intelligence and capabilities.
As I said the first time around, I do understand that women were treated like shit back then (hell, they still are now), so the types of narratives about women advancing in society are all going to be problematic and they're all going to play the same... but I really don't know how I should feel about a story where it's the guy who makes the noble sacrifice. It's almost as if the show is telling us that we should be proud of him for "doing the right thing" as opposed to celebrating the fact that this woman was able to find success at court via her own abilities.
God, who knew that two shows from this season would fuck me up so bad when it came to the representation of women. Anime.
too bad they stole the idea

How can it be "the beginning of the end" when Hanada already wrote scripts for both seasons of K-ON! and did series composition for Nichijou?
We got one last promo for Episode of Nami, a remake of the Arlong arc in One Piece. It's a long one too. Animation seems rough in a few spots, but seeing this with the modern art style will still be godly.

Well, I guess this special is why they're going to sell some limited edition Nami oranges:We got one last promo for Episode of Nami, a remake of the Arlong arc in One Piece. It's a long one too. Animation seems rough in a few spots, but seeing this with the modern art style will still be godly.
Nami's prized mikan oranges, as seen in Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga and anime, will actually be sold in Japanese supermarkets and department stores in October. A farm from Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture is offering these official One Piece mikan. "Nami's Mikan ~Premium~" stand out from other mikan oranges with their sweetness — they have a sugar content of 12 percent or more.
The official website for the oranges already began taking pre-orders on Friday. A set of five will go for 1,050 yen (about US$13), 10 to 15 will go for 3,150 yen (US$40), and 30 to 32 will go for 6,300 yen (US$80). Naturally, each set comes in a package with a different, brand-new anime illustration of Nami, the Straw Hat Pirates, and Nami's mikan trees aboard the Thousand Sunny ship.
If they ace the execution, maybe the single biggest anime event of the year for me.
Didn't realize they'd be animating select scenes from the Buggy and Kuro (and presumably Baratie) arcs too. Hopefully those are just to illustrate Nami's early interactions with the crew and are fairly brief.
