Kino's Journey - 4

Guys, I don't even-It's just, well I so-HOLY SHIT.

Why hello there Homura Akemi! Yeah, there's no mistaking it that's the exact same hairstyle as Madoka Magica's Homura.

And here we have...Kino? So it's a background story episode. Well then. At least everything is fine and dandy in this tow-

What in the?...Oh. That is...oh my....YIKES. This is some dark shit going on here! They are literally sucking the child out of childrens!

Oh and of course the townsfolk go in a rage at those who question their "perfect ways".

I-I'm stunned. I never thought THAT would be Kino's backstory! I mean damn. The fact that she just watches the original Kino get stabbed with nothing more than a shocked expression is what made it all the more saddening.

So Motorcycles in this world can just talk if you make and name them? Ok then. I accepted the fact that Gurren Lagann can make big drills out of nowhere so I guess I should just stop questioning strange things like that in anime.

But wait, IIRC, Hermes mentioned something about a "Master" in the first episode. But if this is Kino's backstory, then he obviously wasn't talking about home. Was this "Master" the one who taught her how to use a gun or something?

I can't remember the last time I was shocked by an anime episode this much, I mean what the hell?

You'll find out more about
the "Master"
later on.

The world god only know godesses - 05

The handled yui part very well , even if it was painfully obvious that they didn't have money for many scenes. i've never seen a theme park in anime so EMPTY.

The%20World%20God%20Only%20Knows%20-%20Goddesses%20Arc%20-%2005.jpg

This part always made me laugh.

Now i realised that they didn't stop making changes to the manga , fiore in particular is nowhere to be seen.Does this mean that
aqua torture scene
won't be adapted ? I mean :
Fiore shoudl have been captured by this point !...do they plan to put her as a final boss for this arc ?
If they do try to remove aqua later things would still make sense BUT if they don't then
how are they gonna adapt the after school ambush ?
?

This is why i hate when you adapt and change too many details..i can't help but think that they will make a giant mess for the final act.

If anyone has any doubts about Higurashi being a comedy, they only need to watch ep9-13. What an epic arc. I still remember the emotions going through my head as I watched it, and how the deadpan humor just built up episode after episode, scene after scene, until everything was a blur of hilarity. Higurashi was the fucking bestest.

Pro-tip: When They Cry refers to the audience crying from laughing too hard. :D

There's no way Higurashi wasn't intentionally hilarious. Most of the arcs in the first season were paced and directed as dark comedies, with the outcome being the joke.

I think it comes off that way only because the direction and art is bad.

I enjoyed Higurashi the first time I watched it, soon after it came out, but when I went back to it years later after having read the VN I found it unwatchable.

Higurashi was one of the first series I watched back when I got back into anime in 2009 (I had a really bad preteen weeaboo phase and tried to distance myself from anime until I got out of high school as a result).

I was kinda pissed that Umineko was such a terrible adaptation, since that began airing right around the time I watched Higurashi.

The writing and direction was soooooooo good. It's filled with hilarious tragecomedy tropes like the main character asking for information which will DEFINITELY get him in trouble later on. Soooo much foreshadowing. Back then Higurashi was the best comedy anime since Azumanga.

I liked Higurashi when I first watched it years ago when it came out but its been so long I can't remember any of it except the ways people died, which is I guess the best you can ask for in a slasher flick.

Haha, that was a funny episode. It was really enjoyable with telling basically two different stories and really let the characters shine.

Yeah thats Kino for you. It wont stop either. Youll be reacting like this over and over again. As for what you mentioned, theres an OVA movie episode that explores it much more in depth.

i still think of the ending of this arc to be the best part.

The "oh so expected result" of several bad choices made.

Brillant i'd say

The only thing I know about Higurashi is that this character song or whatever has given me several heart attacks over the years. Also that one recent special with the girl voiced by Yukarin sliding her butt against a window.

Boku wa Hanyuu tomo shimasu
Boku wo sugataga miemasen (nano desu)
Zutto mukashikara kokoni imasu
Dakedo Rika shika shirimasen (nano desu)

(lol)
This song is very hard to forget once it get into your head.

Auau hauu hauu auau auu-wa hauuau!
Auau hauu hauu auau auu-wa hauuau!

Penguin Drum spoilers I guess:

Does Japan have some huge problem with providing adequate care for orphaned children? Or are "Invisible Children" and the Child Broiler not references to orphans? What is this show even really supposed to be about? Utena has been pretty well analyzed, but I've seen little discussion about Mawaru Penguindrum.

i think animegaf reached a conclusion while it was airing but i don't remember what it was.
As for me i turned of my brain at some point after ep9 because it was getting SO CONFUSING. but you're right , i think
the invisible children are orphan even if i have my doubts on what the child broiler is.

I just wish they had more budget. whole show feels halfassed and feels like no one wants to make it.

Penguindrum was too convoluted for its own good by the end.

I still loved it, though. Really oughta buy it on Blu-ray. Even though the prices are a little steep.

Anyway,

Attack on Titan - 14

Okay, the Trost arc was going on way too long, so I'm happy just to see something new. Levi and Zoe are both characters I could end up really liking as long as their character development isn't fucked up along the way. Also, Hiroshi Kamiya and Romi Park as their VAs. I can get behind that.

New OP and ED are better than the first ones, IMHO.

So amending the list of things about Gundam 00 I don't think are awful to include the music. Understand when I say this I don't mean Princess Marina Ismael's Horribawfuckingly Ear Rending Sing-Along, but like, the other music in the show. Which is catchy and good and SRWZ2.2 has reminded me of this, so just throwing that out there. That the music in that show was killer. I hated the Trans Am but I'll be damned if it doesn't have a slick theme.

Trans-am, theme are the the frigging nasty

m anal and try to ace as many pilots as I can. Arios is really hard to do because the unit is absolute shit.
Dem animation though, Arios might've the best one in the game.

Something something symbolic of the entire show's plot something something.

Well, on the flip side Setsuna's ace bonus makes him a god against Gundams and solar powered robots. Those mass produced innovators are super easy to kill using just a beam saber.

Crunchyroll in that news article was just leering at the chance to the streamer of choice for the new Sailor Moon franchise.

But I got bad news for them.

Hulu gonna get it.

you think Netflix gonna get it?

if they can, they can try...

and then convince the post industrial vagabonds (aka, the hipster) that the company is not gonna die in 5 years just like everything else not named porn or owned by the 8 majors.

Sailor Moon SEXY/Spinning 96

Face full of Michiru ass

So Mako falls in love again, but this time with Haruka. There are not enough lesbian seagulls in the world for this one.

Interestingly enough we found a porn mag in Rei's room. The Garden Variety kind. But anyway, we're dealing with Michiru and Haruka being assholes without the others knowing (because fuck I don't know how Secret Identities work to this day here) and

HOOOOOOLY FUCK! Last episode wasn't good with the sex appeal with the Daimon but THIS MORE THAN MADE UP FOR THE LAST EPISODE! CHILDRENS TV SHOWS! FUCK! Best season keeps giving! Lesbians and Star Nipples! When will we (and I mean they) find out their identities D:

Oh hey, the KnK site is open now:
http://anime-kyokai.com

Ishidate is the director, Jukki Hanada is writing the screenplay, Miku Kadowaki is CD/chief sakkan, Fall 2013 confirmed!

So I never got around to discussing this. What are people's opinions on Ishidate? He's never directed a full series before.

I was sorta hoping it was going to be Takemoto, since I'm not likely to get FMP4, but alas.

Competent, I guess? Dunno. Recently, he directed the final episodes of both Hyouka and Chuuni, and one was good and the other was bad, but I wonder how much input he had on either (the first was storyboarded by Takemoto himself, and the latter was just about unsalvageable with the script it had, anyways).

KyoAni is continuing their tradition of growing their staff and promoting from within. Ishidate will be the 3rd in-house animator/director given the reins on a new series in recent memory (sorry Yamakan). I don't have specific examples but he's generally well liked as an animator (Shergal should have more details regarding this).

As for Takemoto, while I do wish he got announced as director, I've come around to the idea that it would be a shame to waste his talents on this. Let him find the next Hyouka and bring it to us rather than waste his talents on what is clearly LN-fare in Kyokai no Kanata.

I haven't seen much from the guy but what I have seen, I've liked.

For instance, (going by ANN) he apparently storyboarded episodes 3, 17 and 22 of Hyouka and those were some of my favorite episodes in the entire series. So I'm looking forward to what he has in store for KnK plus I'm just a sucker for supernatural things in a modern setting.

Ishidate is a very good animator and a mostly good storyboarder. He's the go-to action/FX guy in Kyoani too, so it seems fitting that he's directing the action show.

e: Oh, and he loves fancy (and sometimes not so fancy) post-processing, the Nagato vs Asakura fight in that video was from an episode he directed (his debut as SB/ED, actually), and the CM for KnK was also pretty charged with it. Not a lot of his episodes are bloated with that shit though, he probably can't always get away with it.

He could, or could not, bring down the overall visual quality of KnK depending on how he goes about that. I'd hope he knows to restrain himself, but one can never be sure...
