Summer 2013 Anime |10th Dimensional OT| the first ignoble truth: all of life is anime

Wow. At the risk of sounding overly harsh, whoever runs the NeoGAF Shitposts twitter account needs to get on this post. Besides the bad comedy of RC/FG, half the jokes in those episodes don't make sense unless you're already versed in SW.

IMO RC and FG(for once) had good comedy in those SW episodes. You really don't need to know anything about SW to know that Herbert the pervert being Obi Wan is gold.

And I'm just going to leave it at that in order to avoid bringing up a Star Wars argument in a anime thread.

You should just drop everything else and only watch Uchouten then.

I can't do that

:(

Because I haven't seen Star Wars? There were far more important films to watch when I was a kid, like all the James Bond movies. Like I knew one person growing up who cared about Star Wars (said friend I went to see EpII with). No one cares over here.

In Britain it isn't an institution it's a terrible phone ad.

Disney overpaid for Star Wars, but Sony fell into Bond.

James Bond is pretty good. I love spy stuff and the International Spy Museum in DC was pretty amazing. However that doesnt reduce the importance or popularity of Star Wars.

When I say it's a phone ad, I'm not exaggerating.

And maybe I actually watched two of the original triology as a kid, I donno, it was so long ago and they really didn't make an impact on me.

2nd error on my part in regards to the Kanno playlist. There is a 2nd song missing that is between Tank and Chikyuu. That song played before Innocent Green.

I now remember Chikyuu. I take back my earlier comment. She actually did do a good job with the song. It's like she simulated reverb with the piano somehow. Really cool audio effect.

What was the song with the heart rate monitor that she actually sang to? Monochrome from GitS:SAC? It was familiar, but I can't quite place it...

(Kanno has an amazing singing voice, coincidentally)

That wasn't for you foreigners.

USA USA USA

That's how we roll. We make the countries we defeated sing our theme songs.

That only works if we know the lyrics. We just sat there trying not to look too conspicuous.

Sailor Moon Sexy/Spinning 123

EVEN FOR A KIDS SHOW, THIS IS SHOWING TOO MUCH

That's not what they mean by kids show! And why is it always Chibiusa? Nevermind the fact that
they ripped out her heart to awaken Mistress Nine, which means it's not Sega Saturn, but that Hotaru was possessed already by an entity, also the last Witch killed herself with her other Pepsi clone. Kaorinite was useful, but then got blasted into the barrier and died. lol.

4 episodes of Sexy/Spinning left. Then the Sexy/Spinning Movie..

Yea it was definitely Monochrome. So was the secondary vocals overlapping her voice for this one and she sang Gravity solo?

Which one was the one with the bird?

And yet it's full of British actors.

Challenge him to a watchbet.
But then Branduil would have to watch Kill me Baby.
Would be a pretty unfair bet.
One is an iconic piece of fiction that will be remembered for its influence for generations to come. The other is Star Wars.

He could have BGBW watch the rest of the prequels to balance this.

Or just the christmas special.

Uchouten Kazoku 6
So the world-view of the series is coming to light, along with more sprinkles of backstory. The relationship between tanuki/humans/tengu is really well integrated into the narrative. It actually feels like well-done magical realism, which I suppose comes from the source material being a legit novel. But the directing can draw that dreamy feeling extremely well due to the precise layouts and editing, the very competent sound direction and the absolutely arresting art/colour direction.

In other words,

I thought Monochrome was solo and that Gravity was mostly sang by people from the audience, but I was pretty far back, so I could be mistaken.

As for the bird - Argh! It was the first track after she opened up the lid of the piano, but I can't for the life of me remember what actually was!

Whilst we're talking about this, do you know what songs Chiaki Ishikawa performed other than Uninstall and Fukanzen Nenshou? I couldn't quite place them (and it took half the song for me to remember Fukanzen Nenshou was from Kamisama Dolls...)

Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku Kinetograph OVA 2

I really hope this is the last OVA. I mean, it's your completely standard otome adaptation and all that political plot going on in the background terrified me that they'll make another episode.

But anyway, more choose your own adventure!

There was no way she was singing Monochrome solo. They definitely added some recorded voice and she sang with it. Gravity she sung solo. Let me try a revised list. Unknown means I don't recognize it. Maybe from Macross Plus or something.

I also don't remember much from Ishikawa other than the ones you mentioned and that her songs went on way too long.

1.Tank!
2.Unknown
3.Innocent Green
4.Chikyuu
5.Unknown, visual with bird
6.Monochrome sung along with prerecorded voice(in that the prerecorded voice was in addition to her voice), visual with pulse machine
7.Gravity sung solo, visual with plastic bag
8.Memory of Fanelia
9.Real Folk Blues
10.Rakuen
11.Power of the Light
12.Star Spangled Banner
13.Tank! But played faster

You're probably right about Monochrome - it was beautiful regardless.

I think the second Tank was before Star Spangled Banner. I think the plastic bag visual was for whatever was immediately prior to that (Power of the Light?) because it was played alongside the concert credits?

And, yeah, there was a Macross Plus track in there - I think it might have been Nomad Soul (can't find a video anywhere, annoyingly). I think that might have been the second track. I can't remember what the song with the bird was, but it was absolutely something I know. It's driving me nuts!

As for Ishikawa, it was only really Uninstall what went on way too long, because she went straight into a really weird arrangement of it immediately after the original, and that was the full length all over again.

Really disappointed after just finding out that Funimation has copyright issues with the One Piece "Hands Up" OP.

Guess I'm still stuck with skipping the tired old one since part 2 began.

But you see, it's deep commentary on how immigrants were telling these amazing tales of how America was the promised land only to end up being completely disillusioned.
If anything this observation is the intent!

And then they fall for it again in the sequel.

Well France is the second biggest manga market right behind Japan. (12-13 millions manga sold last year)
I guess we like anime a lot too.
You do. France is an infinitely more healthy market than any other western anime/manga market.
Edit: Another factor is that a lot of Japanese licensors sell English rights at a premium compared to French.

Ace of Hearts Precure 28

Aguri continues to be our food porn specialist.

And she gets a taste of her own medicine when she realizes she only thought of herself this whole time, so she gains her first friend around her own age, holding hands under the fireworks display (this better be in the doujins Gambler Club).

And she pretty much solo'd once her love started coming out. Not much else to say honestly.

Don't know why next weeks title only focuses on Sharuru, considering the other two will learn how to become human. Lance has the shittiest design.

If you are going to complain about a country getting stuff you don't complain about Britain and it's exclusive Oyster Card holder with the K-On movie. Only six people in this country buy anime, five of them exclusively Ghibli movies.

DigiKerot, I think the unknown bird song is probably Aquarion related but I'm not familiar enough with the franchise to know which song is more likely to be played.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Aquarion OST on my iPad, unlike the Macross Plus one, so I can't check.

Are you sure Gravity wasn't earlier in the show? I could have sworn it was just before she opened the piano lid (most adorable thing ever, by the way!). I thought it was the first vocal thing she played?
