Summer 2013 Anime |10th Dimensional OT| the first ignoble truth: all of life is anime

I learned Japanese for a bit back when I was 10.
Then I stopped for a long time, started learning it again, from September 2012 to May 2013, one class every week.
And as I said in this thread a while ago, I managed to get into the college I was aiming for, which only teaches Oriental, African... languages (INALCO ), so I'll be able to properly learn Japanese!

I am French yup. I thought it was pretty obvious :lol

Well , like me you probably never hidden it , i probably remember someone from animagaf that was french like me ( and that is probably you ) but since it's not important i probably never paid attention.

Sorry about that.
Anyway i wish i could have more time to improve my language skills but i least i don't get rusty..several people i introduced to the language years ago are now much more fluent in japanese that me ;-;

Mmmm, Pirotess. Dark Elf Waifu of all time. The Lodoss OVA series was so good. That sword fight between the kings is one of my favorites in anime, I think.

I'm presuming where I'm at is middle-to-end, though someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Without spoiling much, episode 13 is what I considered the rock bottom for the show. Much as I like to beat up on it still, I think it has improved since that point.

I kind of feel bad for beating up on the Trost-arc because it's almost like pointing out that they sky is blue and that grass is green - it feels rather redundant.

True, but like any grown up, y'gotta have an answer for when a kid asks "why is the sky blue?"

Actually, the theme of what parents pass on to the next generation, for better or worse, is a common theme of Sharp in general.

It's pretty funny that Doremi, an episodic magical girl show for little girls discusses clearly identifiable and fairly weighty themes where as most titles for teenagers don't even attempt to promote or examine a message.

If, for some reason, you have the energy and time to listen to people talk about Diebuster for one and a half hours Dynamite in the Brain have recently put out an episode on the OVA series. You can download it from here.

I will say that Brian kind of lets Philip go off on some crazy long soliloquies, which he should probably have shut down, but even with that caveat the discussion is fairly interesting as they make sure to go into lots of spoiler-filled detail about the work.

I think the most interesting thing that came out of the discussion was Brian pointing out that the story was basically a fairy tale wrapped in mecha dressing which isn't a frame I had considered placing around the work before. If I ever re-watch the series for a third-time, which is always possible, I will have to consider that angle more fully.

It's also a shame that the discussion lacked someone who was more critical of Diebuster. I'm not saying that it's impossible to have an interesting discussion of something if everyone is positive but I think it's always interesting to have someone there to bring an alternative perspective who can challenge the arguments of others.

High school dxd New - 06
Finally this arc is done .

They did a lot of good things in it considering the source material and That dragon apperance was excellent.

What might seem like too much talking was actually pretty important for next arc.

High%20School%20DxD%20New%20-%2006.jpg

Finally !!!

Ise continues to be fun , even if he didn't have a great moment during this arc ..
We should however have a lot of good stuff now that this arc is over starting with the legendary pool episode that ANY Dxd LN READER expect.
Oh i'm hyped...

Yuuto using the swords during the fights was nicely done... you can feel that the writer is behind this to make the thing better ..

Gatchaman Crowds 5

Well it looks like things are going to come to a head. This show hasn't been a looker lately but the internal politics and philosophies of Rui and the Gatchamen have been very interesting to see. My one issue with the show is that when it seem like shit is about to go down the episode ends and kills all the momentum.

Them finding a secret base was kinda fun I guess, but pretty pointless, especially because they ended up settling on the most obvious place in the end that they only said wasn't good enough in the beginning because "ohh I tripped on a log we can't use this place!" I wish they had chosen the zoo though. If you want a secret place where you'll be all to yourself and nobody will disturb you, then check out the Jaguars home stadium that I don't even know the name of.

In before comments about how Yellow Line was the best segment of the movie accompanied by the best track in the score.
the rest of the score feels flat so that's no real accomplishment.

i don't think there even are any other full length action tracks actually.

I would probably consider it more of letting you understand each character more since it's kind of relevant in regards to their interests, even if they all did end back in the same spot.

I guess but I don't really feel like I learned that much other than that Nao and Akane like cute things and that Reika actually thought the top of Mt. Fuji was a good place to discuss official Precure business.

Hopefully it'll generate some discussion, as I was eager to talk more Diebuster.

I think it's interesting that both your review and my much earlier review touched upon the nature of Nono's 'message', e.g. that one just needs hard work and guts to success although I see that you approached the subject slightly more favorably than myself.

You also talk about the ending (which isn't that surprising as it's one of the most discussed elements of the show) and the position you express is one that was defended during the aforementioned podcast. I'm in two minds about the whole thing although I think that I mostly land upon the side
which feels that the ending to Gunbuster was far better than the ending to Diebuster and, in fact, Diebuster's ending only had any kind of weight because they borrowed the power of a completely different series.
It's almost like they didn't feel like their ending was strong enough on it's own.

Conversely I can see the argument that the ending was earned because of all the set-up that happened throughout the series.

Well more like THE PATH for Reika, as you'll be hearing that a lot, on top of Nao's Pokemon antics.

For Akane, it's more on she likes gorillas, which are pretty strong animals (and she's rather strong herself as she'll display over time).

Although it's more for the sake of playing with what is established with the characters rather than really developing them.

I don't know why you guys are talking about choices of languages.
Here in Brazil we only have english, and by english I mean only the verb to be...in three years. =____=

Sailor Moon SuperSilly 162

Well things happened, and everyone talked about dreams, which makes me feel like thinking back... (theorizing)

but before that, Mamoru is tied to the earth, and the spiderwebs covering the sub is keeping him out of commission to fight. They really like to throw him under the bus these days. Anyway

So I'm guessing it's more like children have the brightest dreams, they're the most untainted since they also don't truly understand the world. We see that each of the Sailor Senshi recall actually seeing a Pegasus in their dreams as children, who later dismissed it as being a dream. It probably represents dreams thrown away, which probably will lead into something like the main villains are actually thrown away dreams from the main characters themselves, Nehelina or whatever could be Sailor Moon's since she's the Queen of the Dark Moon, and Sailor Moon is the moon Princess. Just a stab. Not sure who Zirconia would be (Mamoru? lol).

Also leading up to it's more on lines of dreams of an adult, considering the Amazoness Quartet do not want to be adults, but kids forever, and the Circus motive is more on the lines to easily connect to childhood. That's why it's the Deadmoon Circus.

Now then, I'm surprised it took them that love to figure out where Pegasus is considering the person who keeps fucking calling the thing.

I never watched at the time of it's airing but was it already mentioned at the time that Diebuster tied into Gunbuster? If so, I could imagine that perhaps they felt the need to
add in the additional tie into Gunbuster with that ending as a way to forestall any future questions about its place in the continuity since, from my hazy recollection, beyond the mention of Busters it could be unclear as to how it fits into place with it having such a dramatically altered style to the original.

That's not to excuse it of course since you could then make the point that proper writing would have ensured that such an ending would not be necessary in the first place.

Uchoten Kazoku 1-2
While I'd seen the hype and admired some of the visuals people had posted I remained lazy about starting it and I rather wish I hadn't. I think it's interesting to see such a wealth of different characters on display with motivations and personalities beyond a single character trait.
I wonder if there's any significance to the shot near the end of episode 2 where
during the mention of the father being eaten in a stew with a cut to Benten sitting round a table. I attributed it to merely referencing her threat from the previous episode but I wonder if that was deliberately chosen?

Edit: Oh hey, member status.

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam 5

LOL Godzorla. It's like Godzilla and Gorgonzola in one Mobile Suit. Also the implication that Gary and Sabat were lovers from FemMashmyre. Anyway, Katejina is a huge pain in the ass, whining about how they shouldn't be making Uso fight like this while also shirking all of her responsibilities onto Shakti for no reason at all. People keep asking Uso if he's scared and he goes "No fucking duh, of course I'm scared, but hey, I don't want to just sit here and die, either."

The scene where Uso almost
fires his vulcans on a person with no mobile suit
is really intense, it reminded me somewhat of the scene in Eureka Seven where Renton
goes berserk and smashes a guy into pieces.
Except, obviously, that
Uso didn't kill this dude.

But yeah, Katejina = Worst Girl, Ms. Marbet = Best Girl. Not even a contest here.

WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF MIRRORS! And The Quartet feeling as if they're losing to Chibi Moon.

We had a brief I AM YOUR SHADOW AND I REACH OUT FOR THE TRUTH moment here, but they're not dumb.

Something will happen to the Quartet, I mean they did steal Chibiusa away to play with the Pedogasus.... and nearly burned it alive no less.

Yeah I realize that the whole "switching bodies" thing has been done hundreds of times before, but I thought this was hilarious. Watching the others have to cover for Candy during class was probably the funniest part. Futari wa should have had an episode where one of them switched bodies with Porun.

Maturity, bitches.
So, watched the first few episodes of The Future Diary that came out dubbed, and all i have to say is..................

Shit.
Still bitter that they
cut short the ending so we missed Hammer Time. I was looking forward to people's reactions. Even made an MC Hammer gif for it in advance... :(

Being such a show, the continued look at the matter of loss is most surprising. Not everything is sunny in Misora City.

Attack on Titan 18

Reiner has the best taste in Waifus. Lots of words words words this episode, but the moments with the Female Titan smashing faces were thrilling. There were even some nice shots like this one:

That cliff hanger sure was a bullshit way to end the episode though.

Sailor Moon SuperSilly 164

Look everyone! The circus is in town!

The Golden Crystal has been retrieved, which killed Helios. The Quartet was having their energy drained, but saved by Sailor Moon and friends by breaking balls. Zirconia was killed off when the Queen revived, Mamoru still has heart problems.

Who can truly wield the Golden Crystal? There's like two possible answers.

The worst date ever.
I can't even count the ways that date was awful to behold. Is there no word for "kiss" in the Japanese language? It seems odd to me, since there are multiple words for this in other languages, that people would say "Kisu" instead of whatever the Japanese equivalent is. Unless the fact that "kiss" and "kisu" sound so much alike is pure and fortunate happenstance. Itou is the worst date ever, though. I mean, really. It's almost frustrating to watch this unfold. Like, has Itou never heard of the phrase "coming on too strong?" Cuz bro is not respecting this girl's personal space at all.

Meanwhile love interest number 4 has been introduced. I'm saying 4 'cuz I'm counting Itou's male friend as one. As a harem drama, I assume all characters introduced are possible routes.

This girl, complaining about her :chet being the heaviest burden of all. I don't think I'm mature enough to consider this complaint in any serious way, nor to expect that the writers themselves did. I also have my doubts that girls feel each other up as much as anime wants me to think that they do.

Might've been me :p I had to edit out some scenes so that the video won't crash down on the first day.
