Well, my three weeks of vacation in England with family are over. I'm back in Germany, which is somewhat depressing, and it's back to work on Monday, which is similarly depressing.
That said, there are a few advantages to being back in Germany. Though the existence of work means I'll have less free time overall, the fact that I have an apartment to myself here without family to worry about makes it easier to devote what free time I do have to watching animes. ...It also allows me to catch up on all the doujins I've missed over the past three weeks. Mmmmmmm, delicious.
Shingeki no Kyojin 19
Nice episode. I was actually wondering whether the anime was going to omit the spoon scene entirely, since it didn't happen at its appropriate chronological position, but they positioned it as a flashback here instead. Which is actually the same place it was positioned in the manga, but I didn't recall that because in the manga EVERYTHING is a flashback. Is this the first time the anime has followed the manga in showing events non-chronologically? If so, I can see why they chose this moment to do it, because this flashback tied in really nicely to the dilemma at hand. Pretty powerful stuff.
...And I'm glad the spoon sequence didn't get left out, because I always thought it was a pretty memorable scene, as well as providing interesting new information about how the Titans function. Also more Hanji being Hanji is always worthwhile.
