For the pleasure of AnimeGAF, I have organised the shows of next season into tiers in order to indicate which I will be watching and which fall under other categories. This is a novel idea, I know.

Shows within tiers are listed in no particular order.

BACKLOG TIER (no I won't actually get through all of these in one season)
Futari wa Precure Splash Star ←watching now
Yes! Precure 5 (looking forward to seeing my first sentai-style Precure, even if it's not one of the popular series)
Yes! Precure 5 GoGo! (is this one supposed to be baaaaaad?)
Fresh Precure! (I know nothing about this)
Heartcatch Precure! (when I get this far, I will rejoice)
Suite Precure♪ (when I get this far, I will...buy lots of idol CDs? Or is Fresh the idol one? Idon'tevenknow)
Smile Precure! (when I get this far, I will build a shrine to Yayoi </probablylies>)
DokiDoki! Precure (the final stretch!)
Hidamari Sketch &#8592;not actually watching now because of Precure addiction

Danganronpa (I loved the games, and hope the anime can come close to their level of style)
Gen'ei wo Kakeru Taiyou (I like Persona. I like Madoka. What could possibly go wrong?)
Symphogear G (I watched the first series and am thus obliged to continue)
Gatchaman Crowds (I know next to nothing about this franchise but I'll be damned if this doesn't look cool)
Kin'iro Mosaic (looks like the best of this season's moe anime)
Silver Spoon (because everybody thinks it's great or something. And it's Arakawa.)
Futari wa Milky Holmes (because I can't resist the Milky girls even when they're being mind-destroyingly stupid)

WILL PROBABLY CHECK OUT TIER
Blood Lad (looks kind of like Soul Eater)
Free! (because I give KyoAni the benefit of the doubt)
WataMote (for the luls)
Stella Jogakuin (guns aren't really my thing, but girls are, so we'll see how this one goes)
Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku (bring the cute, and I will be there)
Love Lab (the least promising-looking moe anime of the season, but who knows? it could actually be the best)
Fantasista Doll (I'm such a glutton for mediocrity)
Inu to Hasami (why am I watching this? I hate dogs?)
Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi (uh this is a thing I guess?)
Kimi no Iru Machi (hey guys I watched Suzuka waaaaaaay back when I first got into anime and I totally liked it but I don't think I ever actually finished it and the moral of this story is I might watch this because I dunno.)
ServantxService (I have less than no idea what to expect from this)
Uchoten Kazoku (apparently people like that Tatami Galaxy thing but I never saw it. Maybe this will be good)

NOT REALLY INTERESTED BUT MIGHT THINK ABOUT IT IF EVERYBODY LOVES IT TIER
Gifuu Doudou!! (Doesn't look like my style at all, but it is from the Hokuto guy so I won't dismiss it completely)
Makai Ouji (looks like yaoibait, but also kind of stylish, so it might actually have merit of some kind?)

Prism Illya (Looks delicious, but I'm not watching anything Fate-related until I finally get around to playing Stay Night)
Rozen Maiden (I never watched the original series or read the manga and I'll be damned if I'm going to jump in here)
Hyperdimension Neptunia (never played the games, have no intention of playing the games, anime doesn't feel standalone enough)
Genshiken Nidaime (never watched the original series)
Kara no Kyoukai (if I was going to get into this, I think I'd go for the original novels)
Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai Goddesses Arc (never read the manga or saw the earlier anime)

WOULDN'T WATCH EVEN IN THE ABSENCE OF REASONS TIER
Sen'yu S2 (not a fan of super-short anime, so I never watched the first series and will not be watching this either)
Recorder and Randsell Mi (see above)
Teekyu S2 (see above again)
Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS (I love lolis, but I was bored to death when I tried to watch the first episode of the first series of this. Dropped and never coming back)
High School DxD NEW (I know nothing about this series and nothing about it catches my eye and its a sequel so yeah not happening)
Tamayura More Aggressive (I think I tried to watch an episode of this once and it seemed like all :firehawk and nothing actually engaging in the slightest)

NO WAY IN THE SEVEN HELLS AM I GOING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT TIER
Brothers Conflict (I am not attracted to pretty guys)
Hakkenden S2 (still not attracted to pretty guys)
The Midnight Animals (I'm all for weird stuff, but this looks too out there even for me)
Kingdom 2 (lol CG)

I'm going to end up watching way too much this season and have no time for anything, aren't I? *despair*

I sort of mentally checked out when Sailor Moon Kai got thrown into the Phantom Zone so I'll probably just cruise on more Genshiken.

I'm considering possibly Sailor Moon after I'm done with the Precure series, but with the pace I'm going, its going to be another 2 years or so until then. I started Heartcatch in September of 2012, finished in February of this year, Started Smile, finished earlier in the month, and are watching Suite now. So... yeah.

You can shelve the rest of the seasons for now if you insist on completionism because everything that you haven't seen is worse than any season of Sailor Moon anyway.

Eh, I want to watch all of the Precure seasons. I don't know if I'll wait or not to start Sailor Moon. They aren't exactly mutually exclusive.

See, this is why I don't like advocating people just start watching Precure with Heartcatch or Smile. Where's the fun in turning the series into a downhill struggle?

Well generally speaking, this is how I see it.

If someone wants to actually invest a lot of time into the series, I'd say do it in order.

If they don't want to though, I'd suggest Heartcatch and Smile.

Oh, I think you misunderstand. I didn't say not to watch them, simply to prioritize Sailor Moon!

My problem was that I started with Heartcatch, and then decided during that run that I wanted to watch the entire series. I started Smile next because it had just finished, and from there decided, "Heck, I'll just watch the series in reverse."

Somehow I wonder if the fact that there are now established "strategies" for getting through an entire franchise isn't the biggest indication that it's not advisable to watch all of it.

cnet seems to be enjoying this method, though, so more power to him. I still don't recommend it!
