Don't be! I think that's impressive! It's as much another language to me as people taking about football.

If you have a firm grasp on how to logically deduce things, think processes out with or without a flow chart, and can inference well then it's alright. This is assuming you have a programming background.

WELL if ya want an overview of the franchise with little spoilers, there's this I made two topics ago

Don't read Smile's though. Might be spoiler-rific.

>Hating on Cure Mint

Awful.

I'm considering possibly Sailor Moon after I'm done with the Precure series, but with the pace I'm going, its going to be another 2 years or so until then. I started Heartcatch in September of 2012, finished in February of this year, Started Smile, finished earlier in the month, and are watching Suite now. So... yeah.

Well, I started Smile all the way back in October 2012, and now I'm about to finish up the last season I need to see: Go Go. So it's taken me less than a year to get through all of the seasons for me (and that's with tons of other shows on my backlog).

See, this is why I don't like advocating people just start watching Precure with Heartcatch or Smile. Where's the fun in turning the series into a downhill struggle?

Do I what I did! Intermix the series! Granted, I found Max Heart the most boring of the series (and hardest to get through) but I still enjoyed it. I think I honestly can enjoy mostly anything really. A show has to try really hard to get me to not like it (the only show I've ever dropped was Elfen Lied for instance).

Oh right, haven't done a list yet.

Me Being a Brain Base whore
- Blood Lad
- Brothers Conflict

Unsure how hyped I should be after Devil Survivor 2 now
- DANGANRONPA

I kinda forgot about this
- FATE/KALEID LINER PRISM☆ILLYA

Upper Body Tier
- Free

I don't know where my hype is coming from
- GATCHAMAN CROWDS

I guess I'll watch the sequel (maybe)
- GENSHIKEN NIDAIME
- FUTARI WA MILKY HOLMES
- TEEKYU S2

Actually hyped for the sequel
- HAKKENDEN - TOHO HAKKEN IBUN S2
- SENYU S2
- TWGOK S3

This could sub for me probably never playing the rest of the games
- Neptunia

:DTL Hype
- MAKAI OUJI DEVILS AND REALIST

Some Hype is Here:
- SERVANT X SERVICE
- SILVER SPOON
- UCHOTEN KAZOKU
- WATAMOTE

Man, I'm watching too much stuff.

Eden of the East 03 - On the night of the Late Show (dumb title, I hate in any movie or show or whatever when the title is a reference to a throw-away, non-thematically significant line in an episode)
Another episode, another OMG SO CUTE title card, which doesn't really have any connection to the more serious style of the series.

Before I keep going I'm going to mention that around episode 5 or 6 I'm going to make the episode recaps a little shorter and/or start using spoiler tags -- is that the proper etiquette here? I want to be able to talk about what I'm watching but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Recap

KYbMg9fl.png

More of this. It's more stylistic than times I've seen it used in other shows, but it's still dumb to me.

Akira's apartment is intact, but the area has turned into a slum. It's very weird to me that Saki, whose memory is fine, seems to have no idea what happened to the areas of Tokyo that got attacked by missiles. Akira has the keys to his apartment: Where did the keys come from? He was completely naked when we first meet him. I guess the keys were in his cover apartment in New York? His "apartment" is a giant mall and warehouse complex. It has a puppy dog living in it (and a food dispenser, that's why the dog isn't dead I guees)

fpJx5gHl.jpg

In the apartment section of the mall Akira has a giant "The World is Yours" Scarface Globe. In the last episode and this one Akira has made it clear he's a movie buff and remembers a ton, even though he doesn't know who he is.

EDANkiil.png

The Cop follows. He finds a pile of discarded cell phones and concludes that Akira was involved in the disappearance of a number of people ("those 'neat' losers"--NEET maybe?)--this is a flashback to a photo we see in the first episode of Akira with a bunch of dudes in the mall that we now know is his apartment. He also figures out that Akira is involved in the attacks on Tokyo.

The people who were trying to pick up Saki are at a restaurant hanging out on their laptops and cell phones trying to reach her. She sent a text to one of these people (her sister?) asking to cover for her.

4EHiIdRl.png

Saki watches one of her favourite movies in a totally empty theatre while Akira is in the projection booth. The Cop enters the theatre. Akira and the Cop discuss how Akira has no memory. Akira asks what SELACAW is. The Cop beats the crap out of him and takes his phone and says "There's no way you can change the world with a measly 10 bil[lion yen]. The bastards who forced us into this game should die." So I guess the Cop is also a SELECAO and wasn't impersonating Akira in the last episode when he called to get the other guys murdered. Heads up Akira: When your bank balance runs out, someone shows up and kills you, and the Cop just stole your phone.

grw3ax9l.png

The Cop texts someone saying "We have enough money to play around with for the rest of our lives" but as it turns out, Akira's phone is useless because the phones have fingerprint locks. LOL. The Cop's wife meets up with him and tells him that if he's going to text his mistress, don't send the message to her by accident. LOL. She stabs him to death. Akira has stolen The Cop's identification and plans to meet him to exchange it back. Unfortunately, by the time she finds him, he's bleeding out.

1eK0T1vl.png

"There are 10 others besides us. All are SELECAO and they all have the same phone. We're all forced into playing the same game. You can see [the others] activity logs on your phone. Try to meet them and find out who you are"

Also the Cop reiterates that Akira is dangerous and killed or tried to kill 20,000 "NEET". "No wait... you're 'the Supported', aren't you?" The cops arrive, Akira runs.

Review
This episode basically emphasizes whatever game or organization Akira and the Cop are involved in. We still don't know how that organization connects to politics, but the Cop seemed sure that it was involved in the terrorist attacks. Why didn't the terrorist attacks kill anyone? Why hasn't Tokyo rebuilt the areas that were attacked? Is "the game" a metaphor for something bigger? Find out more, next time...

Wow that was absolutely spectacular.

Does Studio Trigger have anything coming up? Is this coming out on blu ray in NA? Lord.

I can't let Stump suffer any more. If he was watching the Japanese he'd know this, but the name of the individuals chosen to play the game are called "Seleçãos". I can't speak for how it's pronounced in English.

Oh, wait, I see you've got it now.

Kill la Kill. There's a preview coming for it very shortly.

Somehow I wonder if the fact that there are now established "strategies" for getting through an entire franchise isn't the biggest indication that it's not advisable to watch all of it.

cnet seems to be enjoying this method, though, so more power to him. I still don't recommend it!

Wouldn't say watching it in order is really a strategy.

Yeah someone corrected me last page. I have no idea how I would know that from inside the show's context though, at least not at this point :p

Speaking of LWA and Anime Mirai in general, looks like Otakon will have a feature screening for Anime Mirai movies; the article is a bit unclear so I'm not sure if it's just the 2013 films or all three years' worth.
Otakon is pleased to announce that this year will feature a special HD screening of the entirety of the Anime Mirai project (also known as the Young Animators Training Project) as art of its 20th year programming. Presenting the showcase will be veteran YTV producer Michihiko Suwa as well as Yuzuru Tachikawa, one of the featured directors.

Anime Mirai is sponsored by the Japanese Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) and the
Japanese government's Agency of Cultural Affairs, and is in part a response to increased
outsourcing of Japanese animation projects. The intention is to ensure that up-and-coming
animators have opportunities to pursue their own works and gain experience leading projects.
Each year, four studios are selected to produce short films, which play in theaters and may serve as springboards to larger projects. The first showcase was in 2010, and two more showcases appeared in 2012 and 2013.

Producer Michihiko Suwa has been part of the selection committee and an ardent supporter of
the program since its inception, and brings 30 years of experience to bear. His credits include Detective Conan (Case Closed), Lupin III, Inuyasha, Black Jack, Magic Knight Rayearth, and City Hunter. Joining him is director and storyboard artist Yuzuru Tachikawa, whose first solo effort, Death Billiards, is one of the showcased shorts.

That's right, we use spoiler tags whenever we're discussing major revelations in a work. Although where exactly the line is drawn on what constitutes a spoiler is pretty vague.

Cool! I have a creative writing focus too! I'm just not a kayos-of-all-trades lol.

I wish I went into more creative writing. =/ Sort of sad I didn't. I went towards the more writing and rhetorical theory so I know a lot of language related nuances. And I have a background in engineering, computer science, chemistry, and korean.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Yuyushiki 12

Ending on a beach episode, huh? I approve. Other than that, pretty standard episode. Didn't feel like a last episode, and the yuri content was strangely low, as well.

I'll miss this show. It wasn't the greatest show by any means, but it was a nice, fun C(D)GDC(D)T show. Took some time to get going, but once it did it was pretty funny. Yuzu is best girl forever, but they were all pretty great.

Only three more spring shows left!

There are a few hints to the storyline inside the opening credits, which I believe change overtime:

Yay, a new season. Definitely gonna watch Silver Spoon and TWGOK.
I kind of want to watch Recorder and Randsell, but I'm afraid they're just going to recycle the same jokes over and over again.

Loving
Gargantia

Watching
K-ON!
Dog Days - (Almost done!)

Should probably continue watching
Full Metal Panic!
Morbito

To watch in the near future
Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou
Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation
Fantasista Doll
Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Teekyuu S2

Dropped for now.
Fate Zero - (May watch this again later, but with what I've got on this list, I don't think it would mix that well for me).

Dropped forever
Heartcatch Precure - (Despite it being hilariously easy and fun for me to make fun of, it's just not clicking with me. Sorry PrecureGAF!)

Hyouka 11.5- OVA

Somebody told me to watch this before ep.12.

Oreki does lifeguard work. Why? I don't know. He's the last guy I'd want on duty if somebody was drowning. He'd be all "What a pain."- well fuck you, somebody's fucking DYING!

Well anyway, mystery about a woman's earring being missing. Except there was no earring. It was just ice cream from her kid. I saw that one coming from a mile away. And why did he need Chitanda and Mayaka to reenact that? It would have made sense if he just explained it.

Seems like this episode was there mainly to show Chitanda in a swimsuit. Made for a pretty awkward scene at the end. "Vanilla ice cream is the only stuff that's white around here."

Oreki's sister seems cool. Hope there's more of her.

MangaGAF's walls of shame > AnimeGAF's ( ̄へ ̄)

That one has font from a terrible manga so ours wins by default. Besides, ours is animated.

I don't understand why I always end up so high on the wall of shame because I don't even feel like I post that much.
I often wonder the same thing.

how do yall survive the summer heat? Don't think the AC is working well in my room, and 3 monitors and a pc really does raise room temp :S

1 window fan and 1 swervy fan.

hmmmm....
I deal with heat the anime way.

Damn you guys aren't fucking around.
We do what's necessary for the sake of our Moe world.

Heh, I might be able to give tags now, but there's still only one tag that I actually like giving ;)
Oh gee! I wonder what those are!

Hold your horses lads. It's just duckroll in disguise!
duckokapow

Does that mean Kurita can never change his avatar?
Pretty much.
:kurita

C-calm down guys

(and she's not even a girl from a J-drama!)
It matters not, animeGAF's memory is more effective as stigma than any tag can be.

re automatic name to emoticon replacement

it's pretty easy

Code:
// ==UserScript==
// @name Animememu
// @version 1
// @description uguus ur animu for maximum uguu
// @match http://neogaf.com/*
// @match http://www.neogaf.com/*
// @exclude *editpost*
// ==/UserScript==

function uguu()
{
var uguuEmoticon = {":uguu":"http://i.imgur.com/fsn5qUr.jpg",":lol":"http://i.imgur.com/r7KXDgh.gif",":kurita":"http://i.imgur.com/Rw4733D.png"};

for(var uguuu in uguuEmoticon)
{
document.body.innerHTML = document.body.innerHTML.replace(new RegExp(uguuu, "gi"),'<img src="'+uguuEmoticon[uguuu]+'">');
}
}

uguu();
[/indent]
obviously replace the emoticons in the var uguuEmoticon line with proper urls for the images. Add that script to GreaseMonkey for Firefox or TamperMonkey for Chrome and you'll get in-line emoticons.

For example:
:uguu
Sadly it loses a lot of its appeal if it isn't a system wide thing. Like most customisation like this much of its point is to show other people.

"who but WB masochism" is a reference to the slogan "Who But W.B. Mason", for W.B. Mason, an office supply chain. What WB in WB masochism is supposed to be...I don't know.
This is animeGAF. We are all masochists.

Need to get round to watching that.

Only 399 last thread? Sudoku etc.

Stump, you don't have to write a dissertation about every episode. You're making the rest of us look bad!

Dissertations about Eden are always welcome! It's really interesting to see reactions from someone who has the time to think about it.

However, that Wall of Shame was also a lie, so I guess it doesn't count. (Also it looks like the Wall of Shame has been removed from it now?)

There's only one solution in that style to not having parts of the animation complete for broadcast. I took it, and I'm fixing it for the Blu-ray version now.

Good choice for the Free! image

Chuck helped out, and yeah, he came up with something that works better.

"who but WB masochism" is a reference to the slogan "Who But W.B. Mason", for W.B. Mason, an office supply chain. What WB in WB masochism is supposed to be...I don't know.

Just the reference. I thought it was appropriate in a season with -two- sadistic female leads wielding stationery as a weapon.

Smile is best stuff?*

*Note= I love Smile, but it's certainly not the best show in the franchise.

nah, just saying that there are a few seasons that are more of a slog before you get to the ones that are less so. It's more of a general statement.

But it also gives older stuff a chance to shine before it gets thrown under a bus

Sometimes, the bus is necessary.

nah, just saying that there are a few seasons that are more of a slog before you get to the ones that are less so. It's more of a general statement.

The only really tough season I think is Max Heart. Other than that, the other seasons really aren't hard to get through. Granted it may just be because I never saw it as a slog. More like a magical adventure up a magical mountain with magic.

After School Midnighters - so Mr Jeff brought this up in relation to NeraGaku and yeah...

CG Future!

CG aside, with probably some work, this could pass as a Tim Burton feature, what with everything being so whimsical-gothy. There's hardly any set up, which is kind of neat when you expect a lot of time establishing the premise in a movie like this (let's explain how fear powers the world of the Monsters in Monsters Inc, for example)... instead, it's just three girls in a haunted school doing weird CG-inspired hijinks. In fact, now that I think about it, the set up is very much like Monsters Inc inasmuch as you have two monsters who want to scare the kids but they end up protecting them.
I only really mentioned it because it was shown at the same film festival I saw NeraGaku. I went into it completely blind and I loved it for it's comedy. As DiGiKerot and yourself have pointed out, it's not one for overly complex setup or anything deep and meaningful but it's just a lot of fun!

I can't remember the exact scene but somewhere definitely near the end I was laughing so hard I felt I was going to be sick. If a comedy movie is doing that, it's moving in the right direction at least. Perhaps I'm just too easily pleased. For a movie that was pushed out purely so newly built cinemas would have something to show in them, it's still fairly great.

Still 15 or so pages on this damn thread but when you see a name check well....
