I posted this in the One Piece thread:

So on that day, this thread will probably be full of impressions of that instead of birthday wishes for me.

Whoops, think I spoiled when my Birthday is. Now everybody will know that it is August 24th!

Wow, that was boring. Everything about it is vapid and uninteresting. Haruka is the worst offender in that regard because he comes off as an emotionless robot designed only for swimming rather than the typical shy or awkward protagonist. He doesn't even show any wit or presence to counter balance the lack of emotion. He's just there for the other two guys to drag him along. Then there were the two big music choices which were so silly that I couldn't help but chuckle. I doubt that was Kyoani's intention. Thankfully, the studio can still produce some nice looking background art and small moments of good animation, but those are just small bright spots under a pile of issues that I had.

Maybe this was just a bad introduction and Kyoani might be able to put out a few worthwhile episodes like Tamako Market or so I've heard. If that ends up being the case, I'll look into those. But for now, I don't see myself continuing this.

The water sakuga delivered though.

Love Lab 1

What we have here is a Sakuga display of a budding relationship between two girls. A Smart yet.... not smart girl, and Fanged McBadgirlton, and the latters potential look into girls.

What I watched gives me the feeling that it'll be like the soft feel of women's skin on a woman's hand. Elegant and loving at the same time. I'm keeping my eye out for this one.

I like this description. Hopefully can watch it soon.

Guess I'll be watching Love Lab when I wake up tomorrow. And then, of course, almost every other series I'd planned to watch starts tomorrow. This weekend is crazy.

Rolling post for select info from the Viz/Neon Alley panel Q&A:

- also plan bringing Gargantia to Neon Alley

- Bring Denno Coil to the US? Good question, it's a series we looked at multiple times, it's excellent. We haven't been able to acquire it, it's something we continue to look at

- long answer about the state of Monster: (paraphrasing) the best way to show that you want more of something is to buy it when it comes out...there was a huge push for monster, gorgeous box set, but unfortunately it did not catch on as much as planned...i can't give a definititve answer but there is no current plan at this time

I LIKE THIS !

School life sucks , but i know from experience that real life is worse. But anime always make me remember the good memories of school.

15 people, an unlimited number of days and everyone has a large number of hidden squelletons in the closet ...

This can't end in a happy end that's for sure but one thing 's certain I reallly want to play the game now

I've never been this hyped for a game by an anime like this recently.

Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu Ep. 1

Not baaaaad, in fact it was actually pretty fun. The inner gun-nerd in me is probably talking but I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit despite the painfully boring first half. They should've just kept the introduction similar to the manga which had copious amounts of pseudo-yuri (NSFW). The main characters introduced so far seem charming and likable enough, but something about Rento's voice acting kinda grated on me throughout the episode. Her seiyuu seems to be relatively new so I'm hoping it'll grow on me as the series goes on.

Loved the music that complemented the introductory mock-battle as I'm a sucker for instrumental jazz. Not the strongest way to begin a series but if the mock-battles continue to be this enjoyable, then I might've found a very serviceable show to fill the void that Girls und Panzer has left in me.

Also, I really loved that ED song.

Viz also announced that they have licensed Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet! Coming to BD/DVD next year, with the OVAs included.

Fuck viz but great the Gargantia will get a release!

Danganronpa - 01
I was somewhat underwhelmed by this, but it's still a pretty interesting start. I liked the art style and the general setup of the story, at least, although I'm pretty indifferent towards the production values. I'll give it a few more episodes.

C3-bu - 01
This, I had a lot of fun with. The first half had me chuckle and smile a lot more than I expected, given some of the other impressions in this thread, and the eventual battle scene mixed with the music was just icing. It didn't look too bad on the technical side, either. Also, everyone on this show is lovely, it's hard to choose favorites. XD

This one's a definite keeper, so far. c:

All the girls in c3bu are adorable but ahoge stands out!

It's back, wooooooooooooo!

Looks like they were able to iron out the production issues of season 1, because damn does this look great. The excellent choreography and crazy weaponry is back, but this time it's coupled with actual good animation.

Best part is there's pretty much no downtime at all. It's just fight fight, technobabble, fight, idol concert, fight, fight, EXPLOSIONS, fight, villainy!

This continues to be the best action magical girl show ever, and I'm super excited to see where things go this season. If it can reach the highs of season 1 (particularly episode 12), this will likely be a lock for my top 5 this year.

I am overwhelmed. This show looks great, is pretty funny and can carry the jokes with its animation. It bit off just the right amount to do an introduction episode where everything doesn't feel like a perfunctory overview and instead things were just fun from the get go. Like seriously the quality of this just blew me away.

I'm sure I noticed it back when the info was first revealed, but... Love Lab really is pretty much the main YuruYuri staff and studio working on near the same kind of show, isn't it?

Even if it is they are doing waaaaaaaaaaay more with the animation in Love Lab. It is leaps ahead.

Dont let them fuck up Dennou Coil :(

You're right. This is pretty awesome. And Yuzuzu is great, she really feels like a real kid and not a small adult.

Yes its adorable. Exactly the kind of show for you if you enjoyed Usagi drop. Pity the production values were so low.

Love Lab 1:

Expression porn. Hair porn. Sakuga porn.

This is the most fun I've had with a show yet this season, which I guess is pretty sad, but this is basically execution > premise Exhibit A.

Don't toy with me!

I still think that it looks messy most of the time, so there's that.

Oh, definitely -- even from just the first half of the episode so far this is some insane animation quality for a comedy show -- to the point that I would joke they're going to run out of budget too fast.

I wanna be excited but it sounds like a stock "please keep on checking our line-up regularly" answer.

Love Lab 1

Well that was full of moe, sakuga, yuri, funny faces, cute girls, and funny moments. Of course all of it can get old very quickly if they keep up with the same jokes over and over again. However in the mean time the next couple episodes should still be fun while this gimmicky concept is still fresh.

Its more immediately fun than Upotte was.
it doesnt have FNC but it does have several cute girls on par with her.
the bgm was excellent all things considered.

Yeah that womans feet look was too small.
sometimes K on looks a tad bit silly because of this.
