No idea if you are still here, but it looks like no one replied.
The UC timeline is indeed a mess, but for Gundam Unicorn I believe you don't have to watch anything else at all (I'm sure another person from the Gundam thread is yelling at me again). But about a week ago someone asked the same thing about Gundam UC essentials and we came up with:
Mobile Suit Gundam
Mobile Suit Gunbam Zeta
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (Debatable skipability)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (Movie)
Of course there is a lot after that but I think most would say those are the groundwork.

Shirogane no Ishi: Argevellon 01
CG Mechs ewwwwww. Well, it could be way worse.
So this is about two countries at war then a new titular mech comes in and starts winning. Groundbreaking new premise for a mech show, the series above would've never thought of that.
Not an awful first episode, but I expect little to Captain Earth from this show so I'll probably end up dropping it soon. Really not a lot to say, that was certainly a first episode for a mecha series.

The Wind Rises
An episode about animation and one where Yokoi is the one getting into trouble for bringing personal belongings into class...
Well, the funniest episodes where were Goto had a big role. Parts of other episodes were good, but mostly it was just amusing and not that funny. There's only so many times you can find Yokoi getting shocked/surprised at whatever Seki does funny before it gets a bit old. And why does she care so much about what Seki does in the first place? Could try to get better at ignoring what he does, but then again, then there wouldn't be a series... OP was nice (and part of the reason I started watching) though.
Amusing enough to get 2.5/5 amused Yokois, but no more:

This feels like the end of the first major arc of the show.
I don't have a lot to say about anything, but I still like all the goofy humor. Like everyone's exaggerated reactions when Nyanta announced they'd have curry, complete with airplane zooming sounds as they ran into the room. The stakes haven't been particularly high, but (unlike how I felt with Maoyuu before dropping it) the cast seems really colorful, largely thanks to all this humor. It's really Shiroe's story, but everybody's got a good collection of traits that make them stand out.
I hate the piercing chorus of the ED almost as much as I love the OP.

I can understand that. Everyone's work can resent on determined rough projects... I feel for you, man, but don't lose hope just yet. Maybe Toei Animation truly understands this is a key opportunity to make an impression again seeing all the expectation at a global level they are trying to gather.Toei did a lot of things better four years ago

Well, I feel pretty confident in drawing an impression of the overall quality of the this work based in the writing in the first episode. It's pretty young adult in nature, with the expected "OMG so DARK" stuff thrown in that you'd expect in a genre work of this nature.
Some people aren't bothered by this kind of thing, some are, but you'll probably know by the end of the episode whether it's for you.
Of course, I could be wrong and the writing style and quality could change completely later on, but that seems unlikely.

Oh Shardy. Im a quite optimistic penguin its true, but I wont just watch shit for the sake of watching it. It has to entertain me. And not just because its cute. Like 90% of anime now looks cute. I have to still cherrypick what might be worth my time or not since I do have very limited free time to watch it every other week.
Rail Wars is one I specifically picked out along with Illya S2 and ....SAO2 (tries to hold back puke)
The things I put up with for short blue haired cuties.
Yeah WiiU doesnt have a CR app but I have lots of other things that do so its not a big problem. It would be nice though. CR is a tough sell if a console isnt super popular because of how niche the audience is to begin with.
Ill add you and anyone else when I get back to my parents house where my WiiU currently is.
