In the world of Bakumatsu Rock, the warriors of the Edo period don't fight, they sing. I think the government has some weird monopoly over that shit too.

I thought at first, that this was a stage for some music video, since they had modern speakers and glo sticks. I didn't get far enough into the episode to to see, though.

It seems that this is a really silly show that you shouldn't take seriously, none of silliness is funny, though.

So I went on to see what shows Crunchyroll has added from today. Which is jackshit. Buttfuck it I went ahead to see some PV's. First up was glasslip. I don't think I have ever seen such a boring PV in my life. Like the show looks so painfully average and forgettable. So i thought to myself "this can't be everything, maybe there's more in the description"

and I go to MAL and it says

No offense whoever created this, but what a shitty fucking dream. A show based off her didn't need to be made. I'd be more interested in watching an anime about a girl whose dream is to become drying paint.

Passed so hard. Let's watch this season's run of the mill mecha show see if it's decent.

Add to it the notion that this summer two big names like Saint Seiya (with the LEGEND of SANCTUARY film that had a good opening week with a 'roadshow' showing on selected cinemas; Toei Animation was clearly preparing for this future, so start embracing it guys) and the always relevant Doraemon are jumping on the wagon.

Saint Seiya had a bad opening. It was in 145 screens and only made ¥82,024,908 in the first week. In fact, when you add Harlock to this, it seems like Toei hasn't had any success with CG movies so far.

I was halfway expecting a parody of Gintama's opening narration at some point of the episode with swords replaced by music. The premise has a lot of potential for humor, but nothing in the first episode was executed particularly well. Of course, maybe I'm looking at this in the wrong way and it's just a fanservice show for girls, considering the group presentation at the end.

Theres a whole ton of good stuff though at any given time to watch. Anime is the #1 most enjoyable thing in my entire life.

Browsing this and the Spring thread the last few days put Rail Wars on my radar. That GIF pretty much destroyed any desire to watch it...

The light novel art looked pretty.

No this can't be Railwars. The trailer made it out to be like it was going to be a great show about the security at train stations, perhaps romance and good visuals and I get treated with this shit. I don't know why I got hyped now.

Glasslip Episode 1

Best character in the cast and lively but kind of kicked to the side to focus on boring characters. Sadly its just overall boring with some dull antics like chicken raising and throwing romances left and right. Ill stay for him.

OP and ED are also not very good visually or song wise.

And on the visuals, why did so many scenes have the white glow on the sides of the screen, it was good the first time but for many minutes the effect just became really distracting.

I should actually ask if you've seen the craft being done for example glassblowing? It's rather fascinating and miles from your watching paint dry dig.

#1 Ping Pong

I didn't have any interest in watching this show at first, but I"m really glad I picked it up. The style was weird at first; however, I warmed up to it pretty quick. This may be the only show where I liked all the characters in it. Smile started of pretty good in the beginning than quickly got boring. Near the end is when I started really liking him especially the last episode. Wenge "China" Kong was my favorite person in the show. That brief character growth was so good. I also really liked the symbolism with the dragon, robot, butterfly, and hero they had going on. May have forgot one but oh well. The ost was great with some really nice songs. I think Bokura Ni Tsuite was my favorite ED this season. Overall it was a really solid show, and is definitely the AOTS in my book.


#2 Love Live! School Idol Project (2nd Season)

Stupid drama aside I found this show to be quite enjoyable. It was the only idol anime I have seen, so I can't compare it to others. Nun was the best idol. Nozomi never learned how to read.

#3 NGNL

Bunch of fun references, and games were entertaining. Show was also lewd. Jibril was an entertaining character.

# 4 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Once they start traveling is when I started to really like it. Stands were great to see in action. I think my favorite one was Ebony Devil.

Music was good just didn't not like the shaftness in it.

Oh I have. Sure it's fascinating to see and take pictures/videos of. I wouldn't make a living of it. The difference between this and say my interest in Silver Spoon or Log Horizon where even if I don't care for the particular industry I'm still interested is that I find the management and the economics aspect of w/e they're doing interesting. Numbers and managerial skills tend to do that for me.

If this show does that, maybe I'll watch it. But from that PV it looks like it'll be largely best friends hanging out and boys boys boys and let's go do shit every other anime does as well like a festival and you better wear your yukata wow you look so cute, try to catch the goldfish OH MY GOD HE GRABBED MY HAND.

My impression of Glasslip's summary was that it was going to be a fun little slice of life show with teenagers. I'm assuming that her dream isn't going to be a huge part of the show.

Still though, I'm going to mostly do what I usually do during these anime seasons. Wait for the impressions and see what the general consensus is. Last season was a bit of a dud for me on that matter.

Lots of build up for the regional swim this episode. Rin also reveals his purpose for his desire to swim. We also get some last minute drama at the end of the episode which makes sense given Rin's current condition. Focus on what you're best at even if you may not get to compete against your rival.

first off, great OP. Was wondering why it reminded my of Hyouka until I saw it actually was a ChouCho song :L It's more subdued than Yasashisa no Riyuu, but I still enjoyed it a lot. In general a really nice soundtrack throughout, the string pieces in particular were nice.

Lots of Yukatas, which is always great.

Really nice art and high production values.

As for the content, it seems like a pretty sweet and adorable slice of life with some inevitable romance, aka it's right up my alley. Gave me a sort of Hanasaku Iroha vibe, although without any sort of clear plot yet.

Nice first episode, definitely staying with this one this season. A nice surprise.
